so much upheaval

As far as I'm concerned the big news of the day is that Tim Gunn is leaving Parsons for Liz Claiborne! Sniffle. This is not what I want to hear when it's already in doubt as to whether he'll be in next season's Project Runway. Gawker has his exit memo here. Actually, my favorite part is one of the comments someone left: Tim Gunn is a mainstream white who is articulate, bright, and clean. He's a storybook, for God's sake! A ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Speaking of Tim, I TiVoed Ugly Betty and then fast-forwarded to see the Tim parts, which were woefully small. For some reason I thought he would have a real scene or something. Maybe next week? Nah.

I'm not sure what to say about My Name Is Earl other than: Randy? Really? Hee hee.

Supernatural was, for me, a little bit silly (probably not their intention) and oddly sweet (probably was). I went into the ep with a lot of trepidation considering the subject matter -- I was afraid it was going to be another "All Souls" and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that Shiban didn't write it -- but I think they more or less pulled it out. It engaged me a lot more than I thought it would. Also, magic fingers! (Between the visions and the magic fingers and the flashlights, the first ten minutes were XF-tastic in any case.)

Exxon set a record for annual profit last year. Isn't that fantastic? I mean, now I'm sure those gas prices really were right where they needed to be! See? /soul-sucking snark

ALL MY CHILDREN FIRED CADY MCCLAIN? WTF? I'm so glad I stopped watching that show a couple years ago.

GH fans, go read this from SOW, it's Leslie Charleson bitching about Stuart Damon's firing and it is priceless. "I was standing on the stage yesterday and Jill (Farren Phelps) came by and I said, 'The way things are going around here, should I start looking for my coat?' Tony (Geary) was right behind me and he leaned over and said, 'All of us over 40 better know where our coats are.'" DAYUM.

Also, Rick Worthy has been recast before he even aired, so no Cylon in Port Charles. Alas. (But yaaaaaaaaay Kin Shriner today! Whee!)

You know, I see a lot of strange things on the subway. It's New York City mass transit, that's gonna happen. The other day I saw a woman using a sticky roller, the kind you use to get rid of lint or pet hair, all over herself. While sitting on the subway. And she didn't seem crazy or anything. She was a young, well-dressed woman. Rubbing a roller all over herself as if that were appropriate public behavior.

I've come to the conclusion, recently, that most people are just a mess. It's oddly comforting.

So is Tad still with that Val chick? I want to punch her in the face every time I look at her. She's a main reason I stopped watching, AGAIN. (I had previously stopped when Krystal and Babe took over Pine Valley.)

JFP and Brian Frons literally have no souls. None.

Does ABC realize that plenty of people over 30 watch their shows? Do they care?

They really don't care. Even though that's who their advertisers continue to buy ad time for, so you'd think they'd get a clue.

No. Tad and Dixie were just about to get back together. Val is with some hot guy with an accent who appears to be able to act, at least more than the noobs playing JR or Spawn of Erica. Since Accented Hot Guy can act a little, they use him rarely.

The actress playing Babe manages not to bust out laughing when she does scenes with both JR and Spawn, so I give her props for that.

I am over 30. I have disposable income. And I have little or no interest in watching a bunch of moronic 22 year olds who've been on these shows for two days. Clearly, none of that matters in pursuit of the younger audience.

Good to know.

Aww, man, if Tad and Dixie had gotten back together I would have started watching again. Way to go, AMC. Then again, I too am over 30 and have disposable income, so what do they care.
