Apparently their intent was to convey that since Elizabeth had stayed faithful -- unlike Calypso -- Will was free from the curse at the end of that first ten years. The post-credits scene would have been the first day of their normal life together.

OMG why did they cut that??? I would have been SO much less traumatized! *g*

And yes, I meant to mention Geoffrey Rush -- ironically, I meant to mention how underappreciated he is, and then forgot to mention him. ;P He is sublime in this movie.
