I don't know if you read French (I should know this, sorry), but if you do, here are Cotillard's comments (http://www.marianne2.fr/Plus-fort-que-Thierry-Meyssan-Marion-Cotillard-!_a84388.html) in context. Some of her statements that have been attributed to her as her own personal beliefs are rather her describing some conspiracy film she saw online. I don't think she comes off well, either way, but the American media is still doing a job on her that I'm not sure she deserves. Flighty and inappropriate, yes, but considering the audience and the actual content of the dialog she was having, headlines like "Actress says U.S. gov't to blame for attacks" reek of serious bullshit to me, it's just not substantiated by her comments whatsoever. The note on the bottom of the French article too about not being able to post the video seems a little shady, they come out with this random old transcript now but can't supply the video?
I'm so beyond being disillusioned when it comes to the disgusting new depths that "entertainment journalism" (which now I can't even really define anymore, it's like watching a stain spread on cloth) manage to sink to every day, however, that nothing surprises me anymore.
