Mainly posting to wish [livejournal.com profile] anitchka a happy birthday. Happy Birthday Anya!! I heart you.

Went to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63 tonight, where she spent much time trying to convince me to participate in Yuletide this year. We Shall See. It was a great dinner but as such I am behind and haven't even watched Chuck yet, much less Law & Order: Lee Adama UK.

I did watch 24, though, which I thought was AWESOME, and the only thing I didn't like about it was that there was no kissing. Hee. (Am I fangirling Jack/Renee all by myself or what?)

Here, have an incredibly awkward and embarrassing employee training video made by GameStop, educating their employees on how to talk to....WOMEN. No, really. Here's how to help those befuddled gals buy games for their Wii! By offering subscriptions to Good Housekeeping! It's unbelievable.

It's not as bad as some videos I've had to sit through - they try and make it entertaining. The Cosmo shit is UNBELIEVABLE. But like, man. A. Gamestop has really shitty service and needs all the help they can get, and B. Every time I'm in there, there's some old lady mom customer just like the first one who barely can even articulate what game system they own and the guys usually bork it up.

It's way, way worse than the women in comic shops problem, because it's comic shop dudes + technology.

There's a line in the video where the woman says something like "one thing we all have in common is we don't like to be condescended to or ignored," I'm thinking that's the treatment I experience every time I go into a GameStop. Gonna take more than a cheesy employee training video to fix that.

Seriously.

You're totally not the only one shipping Jack/Renee, bb. Don't worry. I thought there would be kissing tonight after he grabbed her hand so she couldn't slap him again. It's twu wub, I'm telling you!

That video, man. Just ... wow. I couldn't get past the first minute before I was disgusted. That's serious? Really? You're sure it's not a joke? Wow.

Exactly! Soap operas have conditioned me to believe that that is ALWAYS THE CASE. Sigh.

I kind of keep waiting to hear that the GameStop video is a joke, actually. it would make me feel better.

That video would have been right at home in the Onion.

Why yes! I WOULD LOVE a subscription to Good Housekeeping! And a copy of Halo 3! Thank you for introducing me to the exciting and sexy world of video games, here is my phone number!

I know. I keep hoping it's some kind of joke. I love when the blonde woman says, "I love Cosmo!"

Oh, no, no, no. Even Mr. S -- who rarely ships -- is waiting for them to get it on, and is providing faux Jack voiceovers that amount to "She's HOT!" every time they stare at each other. Hee.

He hugged her! And it made him go sulk on the steps by the reflecting pool all hot and angry! Hee!

Until he was distracted by his man-love for Tony! Heh heh.

Yeah, I feel like Jack and Renee are MEANT to be together, and at the same time they CAN'T be together....and naturally I am lapping it up. It's just nice to see Jack up against a woman who is his equal in the field (well, almost, I mean, no one is equal to Jack). He's not used to getting called on his shit and I love that she does that. "Don't pull your gun on me unless you're prepared to use it." "I was." AWESOME.

the only thing I didn't like about it was that there was no kissing.

I was very confused and possibly disappointed by this development. But then Tony showed up and I got over it. I'm easy like that.

Tony's appearance and the subsequent Jack/Tony man-love did make up for a lot. :D
