LJ being down tonight was KILLING ME. OMG.
First,
keeper1247 made this HILARIOUS Josh video to "I'm Too Sexy." Totally over-the-top and hysterical. A must-watch.
Second, there's a little bit by Brad in the new TV Guide about WW ending, and, I admit, I got a little teary-eyed reading it. I think some of his comments truly made the fact that the show is ending hit home for me. Also, he is such a shipper. Hee.
BRADLEY WHITFORD: On Leaving West Wing and Getting the Girl
The memorizing was endless. Our first season we were shooting in Washington DC, and my character, Josh Lyman, had a huge speech. I have to walk when I memorize, so I went outside and started pacing back and forth, saying the lines out loud. It was a speech railing against moronic Republican congressmen.
Suddenly a guy comes running around the corner with his gun drawn, screaming at me - "What's your name?! What's your name?!" I drop the pages, throw my hands up in the air and start yelling back at him. "Don't shoot! I'm Brad Whitford. I'm an actor. There's no reason to kill me!"
It turns out I had been pacing back and forth in front of the FBI National Headquarters. It's always fun trying to convince a guy who's pointing a gun at you that you're on a television show that he's never seen.
There was a lot of laughter on the set. Martin Sheen forgetting people's names. Richard Schiff laughing so hard it actually shut down production. Allison Janney acting so beautifully in her big furry slippers. Josh Malina, who played Will Bailey, thinking practical jokes were funny. You'd go to get in your car at 2am and the door handle would be slathered with Vaseline. I'd get it open and it's filled with trash. If he saw me reading a book, he would tear out the last couple of pages when I wasn't looking. I would like to take this opportunity to say that Josh Malina is a talentless, unemployed fool.
There were difficult times as well. It was a nightmare for us all to lose our beloved brother John Spencer, who died of a heart attack in December. And it was strange to film Leo's funeral so soon after being at John's.
I think Josh Lyman is going out on a good note. He got to see his man elected president and he got his girl. Finally. Man, we stretched that thing out to the snapping point. [OMG Brad I love you. Call me!] I was beginning to wonder about this guy. By the way, the difference between Josh and me is that I didn't wait seven years to have sex with someone I'm in love with. [Heeeeee.] Josh and Donna both end up working in the White House, and I believe they are going to be together for a long, long time. [Okay, that might be where I started crying.]
It broke my heart to say goodbye to the show. It was surreal at the end. We had gone through so much together. Martin was very emotional and that was hard. It hit me when I watched Jimmy take the oath of office. And most of all, I knew I was going to miss these people, my dear friends on the cast and crew who were the most important part of this wonderful experience.
Sob! I love that man. Many many thanks to
bbennett for the transcription.
And that's that. Moving on to Tuesday TV:
"It's like Harrison Ford's backyard out there." <------ GREATEST POP CULTURE REFERENCE EVER. Oh, ASP, no matter how angry I may be with you right now, lines like that make me your bitch. AWESOME.
It kind of sums up the episode, actually, because while the dialogue was great, nothing actually happened. This felt very much like filler before the finale. I mean -- Liz and JT? REALLY? And I thought that Luke was at least going to have an a-ha type moment when he was explaining to JT that women don't always mean what they're saying, but, no, doesn't look that way. So...what was the point? Just to show us that he's clueless?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think the only reason I'm truly concerned about ASP leaving is because she's the only one who can write Richard and Emily. "Will you please keep the comedy routine to under five minutes at my funeral?" Hee. And buying the house? SO. SWEET. Seriously, what an awwww moment. With STABLES because Lorelai likes HORSES. Wow. That was just wonderful, and I love that Lorelai was clearly affected by the sweetness of the gesture. Oh, and I also liked Richard's South Dakota comments because they were clearly aimed at SD because of their abortion law. *snerk*
There wasn't any point to Rory's story tonight, was there? Oi.
Overall, would have been a really good episode if anything had, you know, HAPPENED. Sigh.
I'm worried about my girl Katharine! Her first number was not strong at all, and her second number was vocally fantastic but performance-wise kind of weird. I kept waiting for her to stand up and was frustrated when she didn't. I didn't like that shit when Fantasia did it, either. Sigh.
I think my main problem with Elliott is that he picks music that doesn't appeal to me at all, so I always want to take a nap while he's singing.
I thought Paris's "Kiss" was cute, if uninspired, but Mary J. Blige does nothing for me.
Chris was good, and looked hot. The end.
Taylor -- I'm sorry, but I LOVED Play that Funky Music. LOVED. I am not ashamed to admit it! That was just everything I love about Taylor, right there, right down to Simon still not getting it at all. And "Something," I just love that song, so, it was all good for me.
I died when Seacrest and Taylor were lying on the floor, and the camera panned down and they realized you could see Taylor's belly, and the camera panned back up again veryvery fast. Heeeee.
I saw the new trailer for Superman Returns, and I still think it's going to suck. Sorry.

Thanks for posting that article! I don't know whether to love Brad insanely or start crying. Probably a combination of both.

There are no words for how much I love the fact that he felt the need to throw that little piece of information in there. Sigh.

And I know how Michel feels about the 2% milk. It's too percenty. There's too much milk in it.

2. Brad! Oh, I love you so! I mean, I always did, but I think I love you just a tiny bit MORE now, if that was possible.

Yes, her face totally changed from frustrated to amazed. LG has amazing facial expressions. And I loved that when Lorelai broke down, Emily sacked it up and acted like a mother for a change. ::loves Emily::

Thanks for pimping the vid out on LJ!!!! I'm kinda new over here and pretty much just have a site to post screencaps on, so other than TWoP and Yahoo I have no way of sharing stuff. So, yah, thanks. And I'm glad you liked it.
Oh, also, I'm a huge fan of your fics! Just wanted to say that.

Thanks for posting it!
I've only seen one trailer for the Superman movie, and I'm really hoping it turns out to be good. I'm a big comic book geek - yes, I freely admit it - and I would SO LOVE a good DC Comic movie! (The Justice League of America, of which Superman is often an integral part, is a comic I collected for YEARS as a little kid through post college days!) *proudly returns to geek closet. slams door in defiance*
