in which i talk too much
OK, I finished watching the BSG miniseries and decided I kind of liked it. It has some Robotech elements to it that I really dig. Heh. (Also, very amused by how the theme music is a rip-off of the V theme music. Clearly Ron Moore and I share TV likes.) But I have a couple questions. So is Gaius really seeing some manifestation of Six, or is he just insane and imagining it? I don't mind being spoiled if it's been definitively revealed. Either way, what's up with that red dress? And why is she so oversexed? The only answer I can come up with to both of these questions is, to make the fanboys hard, but, it would be nice if there were another answer. 'Cause, you know, ROBOT and everything. And Starbuck gets less annoying, right? Smoking a cigar is not character development. Anyway. I'll keep watching.
Supernatural tonight was an episode I hadn't seen, so I watched it, since It's New To Me (TM NBC). And was glad I did because hello Daniel Hugh-Kelly! I adore Daniel Hugh-Kelly, because Hardcastle and McCormick is love.
So Fear Factor is coming back in a few weeks, which, who cares, right? Not me, generally speaking. But it sounds like I have to watch the first episode, featuring reality TV contestants. Via Reality Blurred: An episode description for that first show says that "tensions flare and emotions erupt in one of the most explosive fights in 'Fear Factor' history." That fight is between Amazing Race 6 contestant Jonathan Baker and show host Joe Rogan. As a preview video shows, after a stunt, Victoria Fuller, Jonathan's wife, punches/pushes Jonny Fairplay, who was heckling her during a stunt. Joe Rogan then tells her, "You and your husband hit each other, that's one thing; you don't hit other contestants." Jonathan then gets in Joe's face, and then intercut between interviews, we see Joe with Jonathan in a headlock.
That pretty much sounds like Must-See TV (TM NBC) right there.
Hey GH fans, have you seen this? They are really pimping the teens this summer. And what the heck is Lulu doing?
Glarkware has a Bad Wolf t-shirt. The Vaughn t-shirt is also amusing.
The
apocalyptothon (you know, the comm where the members voted for Battlestar Galactica to participate, even though, you know, it's canonically post-apocalyptic, and, well, whatever) is now running and so I have a couple recs.
miggy wrote a brilliant Harry Potter story and
aliaspiral wrote a creepy Lost fic. Eh, just go check out the comm. And now I feel like writing another apocafic...
Oh, so, the NY tabloids were hilarious today regarding the decrease in DHS funding for the city.

The Daily News article is pretty hilarious, too. And keep in mind these are right-wing propaganda rags saying this stuff. Hee.
Apparently the DHS determined that New York City did not have any "national icons" worthy of being protected, or susceptible to terrorist threats.
...
No, really. Statue of Liberty? Eh, no one knows what that is. The Empire State Building? Might as well be a Radio Shack. Times Square? United Nations? Wall Street/New York Stock Exchange? Psssh. However, the Jacksonville, Florida baseball stadium? WE MUST PROTECT IT FROM OSAMA! Since, you know, we never did catch that guy, did we.

It hasn't been definitively revealed. However, toward the end of season two we get a really really cool twist on it, but all it does is raise more questions (albeit in a good way). I won't spoil it because it was one of the few bright spots of the dismal second season (after a brilliant first season).

Hahaha. Wtf, Lulu?
During my AMC years I would always get annoyed about the pimpage of the teens and the lame teen storylines in the summer. I was like, "No, I want the adults back, please. Pleeeease."

Because it's not really real Six; it's Baltar's interpretation of Six. And that is all I shall say, for fear of spoiling.

Yeah, because there's not like any of those things here. Any famous ones anyway.

The Post, absolutely, the Daily News not so much. They're kind of old-school Dems over there -- big on labor and equality, but also big on defense and security. The show I worked on all last summer was a documentary about their staff -- it should air on Bravo soon, and I think you'll like it. It made me want to move to New York every day.
*steps off the Daily News vs. Post soapbox*

MIKE TO NY: DROP DEAD
(I have to say, though, that the people of Oklahoma City might take exception to the "hicks in sticks" crack. Way to keep the high moral ground, Post.)

I just responded to your last post, but I just have to respond again. Jacksonville is my hometown, so I feel the need to "defend" it. Jacksonville is getting $9 million *total*. It's the home of two major military installations. It's not just about protecting national icons.
And it's my understanding the Homeland Security dollars are also used for preparing for/recovering from national diasters, such as hurricanes. Jacksonville is the only major city in Florida that hasn't been hit by a major hurricane in the past two years. It sits on the coast and has the second largest river in the US running through the middle of its downtown area. I'm sure some, if not most, of that money will go into emergency preparations in order to avoid another Katrina-like tragedy.
Believe me, I'm not a supporter of the current administration. But I'm tired of rhetoric and knee-jerk reactions from BOTH sides.
(I know you don't know me -I'm Honeybee from SQ- and I lurk in your LJ for your WW reports, so I may not have any right to comment here. I apologize if I cause any offense.)

I will admit that there was a Six/Gaius moment in late S2 (as your other flister said) that made me go "Oh! Ok. Yes. Good." So... The real/insanity thing made a lot more sense to me then. :)

Glad you're onboard. :)
