Did anyone notice the new Studio 60 commercial that ran during Project Runway last night? It was the "Imagine this" narration, but the first shot was Matt and Brad sitting on steps with Amanda and Sarah sitting behind them and rubbing their shoulders. It broke my brain a little, in a good way.

Also, the ex-boy asks a good question: "If the show is a hit who do you think goes to rehab first -- Aaron or Matthew?" Heh.

(By the way, Dalton Ross apparently thought Brad & Matt "weren't believable" in their roles in the pilot, so now I can never trust anything Dalton says ever again.)

For Fashion Week, Saks has a window display featuring large photographs of fashion luminaries wearing different designers. One of the windows is Tim Gunn. I should bring my phone with me when I go out for lunch tomorrow so I can take a picture. It's pretty awesome. God knows in that neighborhood I'll just look like yet another tourist taking a picture.

Interesting sign of how the economy is flailing: normally Origins sends me a coupon during my birthday month for $10 off any purchase. This year I get the coupon, and it's for $10 off of a purchase of $40 or more. How depressing is that? Since they carry Origins at the Company Store I get to go to, I may not even bother with the coupon. Bah.

Marcia Cross is pregnant. That was fast.

My "favorite" news story today, despite most of my intellectual energy being dominated by the Path to 9/11 travesty: Saudis consider banning women from Mecca. Our good buddies, the Saudis! What a relief that everything they do is A-OK with the US since we like their oil so much. Wow.

Kind of pointless but fairly interesting article about the dividing line between New Yorkers who were living here on 9/11 and those who moved here afterward. The article makes one observant point: NYCers tend to avoid talking about 9/11 as much as possible.

So glad tomorrow is Friday, even if it is going to be a stressful one.

Hmm. Here at Ground Zero Jr., 9/11 is one of the top conversation starters: Where do you work, can you believe these housing prices, doesn't traffic suck, and where were you on 9/11? Within 15 minutes of meeting the other DC-area guests at the B&B we stayed at a couple of weeks back, we were right on it.

Maybe the difference is that ours didn't play out live, and we don't have a gaping hole in our skyline. Or that traffic woes flow easily into discussing evacuation plans and how, well, forget it. Hard to say.

heh, i was just commenting about the same thing. when i first started my job and was being fingerprinted they told me it was so they could find my body in the rubble. nice introduction, huh?

That's really interesting. Here it only ever comes up, generally speaking, if it has to in the context of a greater conversation. No one talks about that day.

I do think part of it might be that a lot of us (myself included) did see it, as you put it, play out live. I saw the towers fall with my own eyes, not on TV, as it was happening, and -- that makes everything different.
