I was so excited to be home this weekend and then didn't really accomplish much of anything. Why does it always work that way?

But Friday night I got to hang out with the visiting [livejournal.com profile] juliedarling at [livejournal.com profile] trjeannette's fabulous pad, along with [livejournal.com profile] careyleah, [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell, and other fine folks. We had Chinese from my favorite Chinese place and watched some West Wing on DVD (and it wasn't even my idea!). Good company, good times.

Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell, she wrote a completely insane, hilarious, brilliant BSG crackfic I can't recommend enough. Gaius and Six get married and have children and head!children. It was difficult to accept how much less famous they were now. On the bright side, this meant they would not have to use the children as cute little baby human shields. (Gaius later swore that he was kidding. Head-Six knew he totally wasn't. Caprica sighed and projected herself into the woods for three hours, like she does.) Seriously. Go read.

Saturday I had brunch with the ex-boy and then wandered around the city and did some shopping. I bought a pair of Keds skimmers at DSW that I ADORE, they are black with tiny white polka dots and turquoise trim. They are very me. I also bought a top at Forever 21 that isn't very me but I look really good in it so I am going to follow the dictum of Tim Gunn and Make It Work. Saturday night I watched the first Fantastic Four on DVD. Wow, that is a bad movie. And Jessica Alba, wow. What a terrible actress. I didn't really notice it on Dark Angel because I was dazzled by how insanely hot she was, but when she's unflatteringly blond and too thin, the acting is harder to ignore. I'm starting to get a thing for Ioan Gruffud, though. Rowr. Also, Chris Evans has Really Nice Arms, and we know that goes a long way with me.

Other than that I don't know what the hell I did with myself. I did watch the first two episodes of Hey, Paula. Wow. )

Speaking of awesome: Charm School finale. )

Speaking of VH-1 awesomeness, I finally saw a commercial for Scott Baio is 45...and Single. VH-1, how are you so good to me? HOW DO YOU DO IT? This premieres the same night as Rock of Love. It is almost more than I can stand.

Oh, and I half-watched that Lifetime movie that Katee Sackhoff was in, How I Married My High School Crush. Wow. That was horrifically bad. Just...horrific. OMG. I only half-watched it, but I'm still disgusted with myself for doing that much. Oh, Katee. *shakes head* Still, it was amusing to see her acting giggly and klutzy and girly. *g*

Speaking of Tim Gunn (a few paragraphs ago, anyway), I just found out that the Bravo website has Project Runway mashups. This one, which is all about hating Wendy Pepper, is absolutely delicious, and reminds me of how much I love and miss Jay. Dammit, Jay! Why are you not the next great designer already.

On a more serious note, Al Gore had an editorial in the NYT today, about global warming, natch. Choice quote: Are we so scared of this challenge that we cannot lead? Read it here.

All housecats are descended from a handful of clever cats in the Middle East. So cool.

Did anyone see Ratatouille this weekend? I can't get over the reviews this movie is getting. I had been on the fence about it, but now it's a must-see. Especially since I hadn't realized that Brad Bird wrote it, as well as directing. I thought he just directed it for some reason. Very excited to see it now.

Finally, Studio 60. Very short thoughts. )

All in all, it's the potential of this show that I will mourn the most. I was worried about it from the first time I heard the premise, and never stopped worrying. At least now all that is over. I will REALLY miss Bradley on my TV screen, I will miss Jack terribly (I still think he needs his own spinoff, or at least to become a character on 30 Rock), and I think I will miss Brad&Matt interviews most of all, so I really, really hope they do something else together. I love those boys.

Good night.

Ha ha ha ha ha. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] leftofcenternyc for the link.

I was going to post about tonight's (final) Studio 60, but when I sat down at the computer I got sucked into taking a stab at a couple more questions in [livejournal.com profile] miggy's Ultimate American Idol Quiz 2.0. *shakes fist* So, later this weekend, since I will actually be around this weekend. I liked it, though. And Bradley directed and did an okay job. And I will miss Matt and Danny. And Jack. Oh, Jack.

Oh, and there was some Danny/Suzanne fic posted at [livejournal.com profile] studio60_fic, for those of you who are into that sort of thing.

Anyhoo. More later. Oh, if you feel like helping out a good cause, mosey on over to [livejournal.com profile] coloneljack's journal for info on donating to the Tipitina Foundation. /PSA Or, if you're feeling more mercenary, go bid on Bradley's sunglasses.
I've really enjoyed the hell out of the last couple of episodes of Studio 60, probably due in no small part to getting to see Bradley be alternately romantic and angsty and bullying. Although I am having weird Gaza/Memorial Day flashbacks the whole time, which is disorienting. Anyoo, I can't help but feel like if Aaron had written like this from the beginning, things might have gone differently for the show. Then again, maybe not. Some more, in which I try not to bitch about Jack not being on tonight. )

Speaking of Steven Weber (sort of), another actor has now blogged on Huffington Post: Ryan Reynolds. It's not political at all, just a very funny story about his brother when they were kids. The writing is actually pretty good, too.

Donald Trump is producing a new reality show called Lady or a Tramp. I think we already have this show, it's called Charm School.

OH! CHARM SCHOOL! YES. ZOMG. )

Speaking of Celebreality, we now have a first look at Rock of Love. I cannot wait. Choice quote: "'...Bret brought outrageousness and excitement to the show that exceeded our wildest expectations,' said show executive producers Mark Cronin and Cris Abrego." THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW IT WILL BE GOOD. [livejournal.com profile] oeilade's and my show business boyfriends said so.

I am still very tired. Going to bed now.
Studio 60 )

So it's official that the next season of Battlestar Galactica will be the last. I know that intellectually I should probably see this as a good thing, but I'm woman enough to admit that it also makes me sad. The way things are going, with GG and S60 gone and BSG ending and possibly Prison Break too, I'm not going to have anything to watch two seasons from now, I swear. ME. Not having anything to watch. Scary thought, people! I also think it's odd they're ending it so close to the magic syndication number, but what the hell do I know. And it pisses me off that they keep referring to next season as being 22 episodes, it's 20 episodes with a frickin' Pegasus movie. Oy. Which, by the way, is now airing in November, not September. Goddammit. I am cranky and woeful right now. Oh well.

In other universe sucking news, The Bush administration said Tuesday it will fight to keep meatpackers from testing all their animals for mad cow disease. Keep on fighting the good fight, boys!

Wish me luck at what is sure to be a fruitless trip to the doctor tomorrow, would you? :(
For the first time since it became, like, part of the Patriot Act, I purchased REAL Sudafed today, because my ears are still clogged and I am in dire need of decongestant that actually, you know, WORKS. Man, is that some crazy shit or what? They scanned my driver's license and I had to sign something. I just want to be decongested, SERIOUSLY. Good grief.

My Overheard went up today! Woo hoo! Yes, I really did overhear that on the subway.

The Creation Museum is now open, featuring dioramas of people cavorting with dinosaurs. I can't even add to that, really.

Studio 60 last night. )

I cannot stop thinking about the Lost finale, as I'm sure many of you are experiencing as well, and now Damon has given an interview (to Kristin, ugh) and he's not spilling anything. Bastard! Where's my Ron Moore style I-will-tell-you-more-than-you-even-wanted-to-know spillage? Grrrr. Interview is still worth checking out, though. Not surprisingly, I keep coming back to Jack and Kate and it's making me want to read some dirty dirty fanfic, so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

By the way, did anyone think "I Saw Her Standing There" in the Idol finale was....well, weird? To have a 25 year old singing flirtatiously to a 17 year old was a bit strange. Hmmm. Also, both Jordin and Blake's "EPs" are on iTunes, except you can also buy them on the Idol site, and why you'd want to get the iTunes format instead of good old MP3s I have no idea.

Also by the way, apparently I'm not the only one who thought Clive Davis was taking a swipe at Kelly during the finale.

I keep forgetting to rant about the fact that Scott Clifton is leaving GH. I am very very sad about this, to the point that I may give up watching again. It's typical GH, taking a talented actor and....completely wasting him. And they keep doing it and doing it and doing it and don't even care. WE HATES THEM. I mean, good for Scott for electing not to re-sign, considering he got shunted to the side for Spinelli, for chrissakes. Spinelli is great and all, but it's not like he's going to be the big teen romance of the summer or anything. Oy. Also: waaaah.

Today is Star Wars' birthday! Awwww. It's not an exaggeration to say that movie had a huge influence on who I am as a person today. (So now you know who to blame, ha.) And yes, I did see it in the theater when it first came out, you whippersnappers. Granted, my parents went to see it first to make sure it would be OK for my very young eyes, but hey.

The History Channel is running some kind of Star Wars special Monday night. I'm sure it will be a lot of recycled stuff, but I'll have to try to remember to check it out.

Apparently they're making a movie of The Sims. I don't even get that.
24 )

The end of Desperate Housewives with Lynette and Tom got me all misty-eyed, dammit. Also, Carlos is hot in a suit.

Kimberley Locke is joining forces with Clothes Off Our Back to do an American Idol auction. Kimberley Locke and Bradley Whitford, that's quite the odd fandom collision for me. Plus, there will probably actually be clothes that normal people can fit into, so that's something.

Go Fug Yourself noted that one of the Borat screenwriters is going to write a comedy about the Eurovision song contest. That's so beautiful.

You really must check out this YouTube link showing a territorial turtle terrorizing a cat. Do what I do and imagine the "Jaws" theme running in the background.

The Daily News has a poll (which, granted, probably means it's the most unscientific poll ever, except maybe for any poll the Post runs) which shows that New Yorkers prefer Bloomberg over Giuliani in any matchup, mayoral or presidential. Which will surprise no one who actually lives here. There's this myth outside of NY that all New Yorkers were enamored with Rudy, when the truth is most of us were well and truly sick of him, his personal antics and his dictatorial tantrums by the end.

West Wing fans: I really enjoyed this drabble posted to [livejournal.com profile] tww100 today, check it out.

I feel like I should say something about Studio 60 officially being canceled, but I don't know what there is to say. I've been going through a slow and gradual grieving process for weeks, so to have it confirmed is just that last exhale. I will miss it, but not terribly. What I will really miss is having Bradley on my TV screen, and, as [livejournal.com profile] crossmymind has noted, I will miss Bradley/Matt Perry offscreen cuteness. But the show never caught on and it's just too expensive to make and that's the way the cookie crumbled, this time. At least Brad will now presumably stop dying his hair blonde, so that's a silver lining. In the meantime I will watch the last few episodes, and then say good night.

Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] writingpathways!!
So the two stressful work things from today are overwith, but the stressful work thing tomorrow is twice as stressful as both of today's things put together. Aaargh. *again with the deep breaths* But then after work I will be going to see Spamalot and it will be good. Unfortunately, it will also be in the middle of a snowstorm. Them's the breaks.

So this flight attendant was punished for having sex with Ralph Fiennes in the airplane bathroom. Personally, I think the woman should get a medal.

I am so beyond ready for this "real-time" General Hospital nonsense to be over. And the bit with Alan today? OY. Except Monica's little speech almost made me cry today, which means I'm going to be a blubbering mess during the death fallout. Still, enough already.

I watched last night's Dresden Files and I thought it was probably the best episode yet, but it was also so bizarre in terms of trying to track it back to the novels. So that chick was Susan only not Susan, and a werewolf instead of a vampire, and it was kind of Fool Moon but not really, and....huh? I probably need to just stop doing that, don't I. But Butters! With I heart Polka t-shirt!! :)

Studio 60 )
I went to pick up my laundry after work tonight and it wasn't ready. I dropped it off on Saturday, which meant they should have had it for me on Sunday evening if I'd wanted it, but I told the guy no worries, Monday is fine. Monday at 7. I show up at 7:15 -- making a detour in single-digit windchill temps -- and it's in the WASHING MACHINE. WTF. And I got SO ANGRY, which is why I'm going to have a heart attack before I'm 40. Seriously, I was enraged. It's just...you know, all they do all day? Is do laundry. They can't use one more washing machine than they were using to make sure my stuff gets done when they said it would be? Aaaaargh.

I know, I know. These are the daily stupid things that I need to just get the hell over. And it's mostly just because I stayed at work later than I had to and made a detour in freezing weather, for nothing. (Plus I had a pretty bad day at work, so I just kind of snapped.)

Anyhoo. On to a more pleasant topic, Monday night television. Let's face it, I mostly just want to squee about Prison Break, which was so awesome tonight I can't even stand it. I really thought that was one of their best episodes, if nothing else in terms of pure fan service. LOL. Sara Tancredi is the bomb. )

24 was both predictable and surprising, and I am not surprised by that. *g* Jack Bauer's too manly for angst, he feels mangst. )

Studio 60 was enjoyable, although I was surprised that the moment where I got most excited was when Jack finally appeared on screen. Heh. Not to mention my favorite scene. )

How crazy is this? Jeffrey Dahmer may have killed Adam Walsh. Eeeeek.

OMG.
When Harry Met Sally as a horror film. Genius.

ETA: I think today was [livejournal.com profile] juliedarling's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE!
I have to take a moment to thank Prison Break, which I realized, thinking about it tonight, is a show that has never, ever, let me down. I have never ended an episode of PB thinking, "Well, that sucked." Or even, "Well, that was kinda boring." It just delivers consistently week after week. For me, anyway. It's the little show that could, and does. *pets* Plus, sexy phone voices! ) Very excited for shipper squee next week.

As for 24, this was one of those filler episodes. Except for... Ohnoes! )

I liked Studio 60 quite a bit tonight. Turtlenecks are hot. )

Oh, and I watched The Hills but don't really have anything to say except, once again, Brody Jenner, ewww. And Heidi's birthday outfit was weird.

The guy who plays the Simon Cylon on Battlestar Galactica is going to be on General Hospital. Ha ha ha ha. That is a fandom collision of the most bizarre order. Apparently GH is going to attempt to have an actual storyline of some kind for its black cast members. I will believe it when I see it. ;P

I know my fanfic standards are possibly stricter than most, but, I don't think it's out of line to not want to read any story in which periods are not used at the ends of sentences. Is it?

I was in a really, really terrible mood for most of the day today, but I think I'm getting a bit better now. *deep breath*
Seriously. Prison Break (Wentworth). 24 (Kiefer). Studio 60 (Bradley). After all I have done for TV, TV is now trying to kill me. Et tu, tee vee?

Prison Break made me giggle and gigglesnort and cackle with delight. Considering how violent this show is, that's quite an achievement. Oh, how I love this show. )

24 made me scream in surprise. A lot. I didn't even get it at first... )

And then Studio 60 was on. And, I think this Monday night lineup is making Jack Rudolph my favorite character. Here's why. )

Note for GH viewers: Tony Geary returns on February 1st. Thank god. Also, Stuart Damon's storyline may not resolve the way it was originally reported. If I find out for sure I'll let you know. (He's still leaving, though, and apparently very unhappy about it.)

That's all I got. Eye doctor can't figure out what's wrong with my eye, but it looks okay, so...yeah. Story of my life.
First, some news you can use:

Psych returns on Friday, January 19th at 10 PM. (For those of you who watch Monk, that premieres right before.) Yaaaaaaay Psych, although I kind of wish they were keeping it as a summer series. It was the perfect summer series! Sigh.

Battlestar Galactica returns on Sunday, January 21st at 10 PM.

The Dresden Files premieres on Sunday, January 21st at 9 PM. It had been rumored it was taking over the BSG slot but it looks like they're just going to run Jake 2.0 all night on Fridays instead.

And if you watched tonight's Prison Break you already know that returns on January 22nd. :) But on to the episode itself... The mystery of the razor blade... )

Studio 60 made me happy: Mark McKinney! Mark McKinney having scenes with Lucy Davis! Bestill my heart. Also, shout-out to my fellow GH watchers: Nikolas' psycho nanny was on tonight! With a couple lines and everything! Seriously, I could not believe it. And her hair looked so much better than it does on GH, LOLOL. Good for her. Oh, right, the actual episode. )

Saw the last couple seconds of Heroes. When my dad picked me up from the train station on Thursday he asked if I was still watching it, and I said no, I have a lot of friends who love it but I just think it's boring. My dad then proceeded to tell me everything that was currently happening on the show. After I just told him I thought it was boring. He loves to do that sort of thing. (I'll never forget the time he told me the entire plot of the Chris Farley movie Black Sheep.) Ah well, it's rare that he gets so excited about a TV show, so that aspect of it was cute at least.

Wednesday night they light the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, which means I won't be able to go outside during the day for the rest of the year. Sigh.
Running out of town again, but I had to briefly post to say that I loved Studio 60 tonight, mainly because Danny pwns all, Jack suddenly became hot and awesome, Lucy Davis rocks my socks, and Jordan was really funny, AGAIN. But mostly it's all about Danny, really. "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" "I want to kiss you all over the face right now." "This may sound crazy, but...your making us chicken caesar salads isn't keeping the plane from going faster, is it?"

LOVE.

Also, Prison Break was very good mostly because Wentworth Miller is like unto god sometimes, and tonight was one of those times. Holy moly. Again: LOVE.

Yay for hot and talented men, is I guess what I'm saying.

And now I'm offline 'til Friday. See ya.
I had a very strange conversation with my landlady today. "I'm going to get the windows replaced in your apartment and I'm going to tell my husband you're paying half but you don't actually have to give me anything, that will be between us for...there are reasons. Okay?" Errrr, okay. I've thought before that she handles all their money matters and I guess that confirms it. Weird. But if it means my apartment being warmer this winter, sounds good to me.

Bradley was on Megan Mullaly's show today and was delightful. And Megan Mullaly is a really bad interviewer; for a lot of the segment it felt like Brad was the actual show host and not her, which then got me thinking about Brad hosting a talk show, you know, maybe politically focused, and hey, something to consider when Studio 60 gets canceled. Anyway. I could have gone my whole life without knowing that Jane Kaczmarek can't get enough of kielbasa, but Brad was wearing tight jeans so I still feel like I came out on top. (Notice that I managed to use kielbasa and tight jeans in the same sentence. As well as Brad, came, and on top. I am a GENIUS.) And he did pinup poses and bodybuilder poses and gah, I need caps, immediately.

Everybody Hates Chris had a moment tonight that was pure brilliance. I mean, I kind of got goosebumps as I realized what they were doing and I was so impressed by it. If anybody cares. )

Heroes bored the crap out of me until the last scene, which was very cool. I missed the first 20 minutes or so because I was watching something on TiVo, and so then I rewound and watched what I'd missed, and soon discovered that I can watch Heroes the same way I watch General Hospital: mostly on fast forward, because I can pretty much write the dialogue in my head. Oh, but Hiro was gambling at the Montecito! Heeeee. Although I don't think it was the Montecito set, but still, funny. And the cheerleader story got me thinking a bit about how our society values teen boys more than teen girls, though I doubt that was their intention. But if they don't stop putting a HYPHEN in MIDTOWN I'm going to have to slap a bitch.

Studio 60 tonight was an awesome commercial for Sting's new album. Ha. More. )

Because [livejournal.com profile] velocityofsound loves me she linked to this description of New York's Flavor of Love spinoff. *snerk* Oh, I can't wait. Although it's possible that would be too horrifying even for me. Take your best shot, Cronin and Abrego!

Your moment of zen.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] md1016!! Your present is on order, I'm afraid -- should arrive in about a week. :) Hope you had a great day.
Thanks so much to everyone who's commented with good thoughts for my kitty. It really means a lot and helps more than you know.

I shall now try to focus on the night of pretty men. :)

I think I fall a little more in love with Michael Scofield every week. Prison Break. ) And THREE WEEKS until the next episode?? AAARGH. I mean, I knew back when the season first started that there would be a break for baseball, but I had managed to put that out of my mind. THREE WEEKS? Not to mention the hiatus it will take in the winter. I really don't know how I'm going to manage it.

I'm still undecided on Heroes. I thought the ending was pretty cool and Greg Grunberg is love, but, eh. I'll probably keep watching for now just because nothing is on opposite it. And because the Indian guy is really hot.

Danny drives an SUV and that makes me love him a little less. Studio 60. )

Almost forgot -- Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] em_meredith! Hope it was a great one.
I don't know what this says, really, but tonight when I went to pick up my laundry, the guy in the laundromat grabbed my laundry bag from behind the counter without even having to look at my ticket. It's just a light blue bag, it's not a distinctive Snoopy print or something. Am I in there THAT often? I am disturbed by this for some reason.

Also, the other day I was offered a religious tract by the woman sitting next to me on the subway, who happened to be wearing a surgical mask. Gotta love this town. Or something.

Anyway, on to the one good thing about Mondays, which is Monday night TV.

Prison Break )

Heroes )

STUDIO SIXTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE )

(Note to self: be cautious when reading comments in a friend's LJ which is largely populated by people who do not share your fandom tastes at all. That way lies aggravation and madness.)

Haven't watched Sunday's Flavor of Love yet because I've been too busy. What a tragedy.

Oh, and apparently I missed [livejournal.com profile] sternel's birthday, so Happy Birthday! And it's about to be midnight, in which case I say Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] miggy! Peace out.
He's killing me with the tight black shirt and the tight black pants. And when I type it like that, it sounds like he looks like Jack LaLane, but believe me when I tell you he really does not.

ahoy

Sep. 19th, 2006 11:59 pm
Got back a little while ago from seeing Wicked with [livejournal.com profile] oeilade. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I wasn't blown away by it. It looked really cool more than anything else. The art direction is just fantastic. I think -- no, I know -- I would have enjoyed it much more if I weren't such an admirer of the book. I'm really bad at putting that sort of thing aside, sometimes, even though I knew going in that it would be very different from the Wicked I knew. And really, I was more or less making peace with it all until the ending, which got me so agitated that [livejournal.com profile] oeilade practically restrained me as she said, "It's Broadway." Seriously, I think the ending is an abomination that completely eviscerates the character and everything she stands for, but hey, we all know how difficult I am to please. ;)

The Wizard was played by Steve from Married...With Children. AWESOME. And Madame Morrible was played by Carol Kane, who of course always rocks. The chick who played Galinda was clearly cast because she looks and sounds like Kristin Chenoweth, so that was amusing. (Oh, and the crowd was SO AMAZED when Elphaba was pulled up into the air, you know, on wires, that I commented to [livejournal.com profile] oeilade that clearly these people have never been to a Bon Jovi concert. Tee hee.) Anyway, I really am very glad I saw it and am very grateful to [livejournal.com profile] oeilade for the gift.

And there was a sky-high larger-than-life S60/Bradley wrap-around billboard on the same block as the theater, so that was like a little gift in itself. *g*

Speaking of which -- the show did well in the ratings, but not great. Still lost to CSI: Miami, although I'm sure that was expected. Its overall ratings were 3% higher than Medium in that time slot last year, and more importantly, 11% higher in 18-49. So, we'll see. I'm much more curious to know how it did TiVo-wise.

And a heads-up for those of you who may have missed the S60 pilot last night and want to check it out: Bravo is showing it tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 11 PM EST.

One day after the premiere and [livejournal.com profile] studio60_fic has two Matt/Danny slash postings. Oh, fandom. *pets*

So -- coup in Thailand, eh? WTF??

Oh, and Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] thestickywicket and [livejournal.com profile] jo_march! Hope you both had a wonderful day.

*uses Toby pirate icon as Talk Like a Pirate Day fades away*
Well, I'm glad that everyone will have seen the S60 pilot, now. I watched it anyway just to see what music had been added, if anything had been cut, etc. My main worry was that somehow "Under Pressure" would be gone, but it was not, and so I am happy. But, what was up with that fucking .com logo IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN? I am seriously sending NBC an angry e-mail. SO OBNOXIOUS. It makes me not want to watch ANYTHING on your network when you are that disrepectful not only of your viewers, but of your OWN SHOWS. UGH.

I also hope not too many people are too disappointed. This was the most overhyped show in the history of the universe, and this is where I remind everyone that I said all along that I thought the pilot was good, not amazing. High expectations can be a bitch. That last scene still gives me chills, though.

In any case, the previews for next week look so good and I am SO excited about that. Next week is when it really starts, baby! Yay.

Oh, and I loved this from the L.A. Times: Studio 60, I suspect, will be very much Perry and Whitford's show, both within and without. They're as good together in the two episodes NBC sent out as Martin Sheen and the late John Spencer were on West Wing, and their relationship is similar, the Kennedy-esque sense of hope here grafted onto the re-education of late-night TV. Awwwww. *sniffle*

I recommend reading Sorkin and Schlamme's post-show live blogging. Some good stuff there, including Schlamme making a geek WW-related joke about phone booths and this: "Tommy and I knew that Brad was the guy to play Danny from the beginning, but we were initially reluctant to cast him because he'd just gotten done doing seven years of some show about the White House. So we saw every other actor in town for the part and in the end agreed that talent wins. After shooting five episodes, I'm certain we made the right decision."

Also amused at the comments by upset Christians who turned off the show after Wes's rant. Um, a) thanks for both PROVING the point, LOLZ, b) it's too bad you didn't keep watching to find out one of the heroes of the show is a devout Christian, and c) why were you watching an Aaron Sorkin show anyway? Don't you know he's a crackhead whoremonger?

On another note, I've been disappointed since day one that Sorkin chose an SNL-type show as the backdrop for his new series, and that hasn't faded. Why, Aaron, why? Alas.

All in all, I was more excited about Brad being on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today. That was delightful. He got Ellen flustered with his dirty talk. Heeeeee. Brad is a horny guy and he needs to call me. Funny underwear and go on a trip, indeed. I need screencaps! Especially of the sitting on the floor with his legs spread wide, yes. *nods*

Meanwhile, Prison Break was much fun tonight. All I really have to say is: of course he ate it. OF COURSE. Oh, Prison Break, how I love you in your complete cracked-out-ed-ness.

When I said I would have picspam tonight I apparently totally lied. Sorry. By Wednesday for sure.
Headache a little better today. I am fervently hoping it will be 95% gone by tomorrow.

Bad review for Studio 60. What? Unlike some news organizations, Radio Free Dianora tries to be fair and balanced. ;)

On the other hand, this guy at Ain't It Cool News liked it even more than I did, I think. Hee.

I am confused by this guy, though, who says, "I know, I know — it's easy, popular and fun to complain that there's nothing good on TV anymore. And some of us get paid to complain about what's on television." Um. What is he talking about? Isn't it the general consensus that we are experiencing a golden age in TV? Does he not watch some of the most popular shows on TV, like Lost, 24, The Sopranos, House, etc.? Maybe he should find another vocation, in that case.

I had to take [livejournal.com profile] studio_60 off my reading list, though, so I must rely on my peeps to keep me apprised of anything important. I just -- there's a reason I'm not a member of any general comms for TV shows, and prefer to stay on the fringes of fandom. That reason can generally be summed up as: I don't like people.

[livejournal.com profile] velocityofsound linked to pictures of Jay McCarroll's collection for Fashion Week. LOVE. I covet much of it, and even the stuff I would never wear, I think is brilliant. Not to everyone's taste, I know, but I think he's amazing. I haven't looked at the photos for this season's final four, though -- I am a weenie who likes to see it first on the show.

I watched the "Salvation" episode of Supernatural tonight. Was that the season finale? I don't think SPN is going to be opposite anything I watch this season, so I may try to catch most of it in real time.

Going to my parents' this weekend, which means cute nephew time! Whee. We may go apple picking, although I shall just watch as I do not believe in performing manual labor if I am not being paid.

Finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] corellianjedi! It sounds like you've been having a great day and I am so glad. You, my dear, quite simply rock.
Did anyone notice the new Studio 60 commercial that ran during Project Runway last night? It was the "Imagine this" narration, but the first shot was Matt and Brad sitting on steps with Amanda and Sarah sitting behind them and rubbing their shoulders. It broke my brain a little, in a good way.

Also, the ex-boy asks a good question: "If the show is a hit who do you think goes to rehab first -- Aaron or Matthew?" Heh.

(By the way, Dalton Ross apparently thought Brad & Matt "weren't believable" in their roles in the pilot, so now I can never trust anything Dalton says ever again.)

For Fashion Week, Saks has a window display featuring large photographs of fashion luminaries wearing different designers. One of the windows is Tim Gunn. I should bring my phone with me when I go out for lunch tomorrow so I can take a picture. It's pretty awesome. God knows in that neighborhood I'll just look like yet another tourist taking a picture.

Interesting sign of how the economy is flailing: normally Origins sends me a coupon during my birthday month for $10 off any purchase. This year I get the coupon, and it's for $10 off of a purchase of $40 or more. How depressing is that? Since they carry Origins at the Company Store I get to go to, I may not even bother with the coupon. Bah.

Marcia Cross is pregnant. That was fast.

My "favorite" news story today, despite most of my intellectual energy being dominated by the Path to 9/11 travesty: Saudis consider banning women from Mecca. Our good buddies, the Saudis! What a relief that everything they do is A-OK with the US since we like their oil so much. Wow.

Kind of pointless but fairly interesting article about the dividing line between New Yorkers who were living here on 9/11 and those who moved here afterward. The article makes one observant point: NYCers tend to avoid talking about 9/11 as much as possible.

So glad tomorrow is Friday, even if it is going to be a stressful one.
