I had a very strange conversation with my landlady today. "I'm going to get the windows replaced in your apartment and I'm going to tell my husband you're paying half but you don't actually have to give me anything, that will be between us for...there are reasons. Okay?" Errrr, okay. I've thought before that she handles all their money matters and I guess that confirms it. Weird. But if it means my apartment being warmer this winter, sounds good to me.

Bradley was on Megan Mullaly's show today and was delightful. And Megan Mullaly is a really bad interviewer; for a lot of the segment it felt like Brad was the actual show host and not her, which then got me thinking about Brad hosting a talk show, you know, maybe politically focused, and hey, something to consider when Studio 60 gets canceled. Anyway. I could have gone my whole life without knowing that Jane Kaczmarek can't get enough of kielbasa, but Brad was wearing tight jeans so I still feel like I came out on top. (Notice that I managed to use kielbasa and tight jeans in the same sentence. As well as Brad, came, and on top. I am a GENIUS.) And he did pinup poses and bodybuilder poses and gah, I need caps, immediately.

Everybody Hates Chris had a moment tonight that was pure brilliance. I mean, I kind of got goosebumps as I realized what they were doing and I was so impressed by it. So Chris is running for class president and he has to give a speech to the student body, but the school bully, who is running against him, steals his speech and uses it. So he has no material when he goes up there and has no idea what he's going to say. He starts talking about what he will try to do as student president, and does it in a way where he criticizes things that are wrong with the school. And he gets all attiudinal and "What's with the meatloaf?" and as he revs up, you realize that he is performing a comedy routine. And the audience eats it up. Now, Chris is not a very funny character on the show, there's not much there that would indicate to you that this is going to be Chris Rock someday. Until tonight, where you see the birth of his future happening before you, how he's good at this, and he loves the laughter, and he never knew he had it in him. It was really quite something, so deftly done. Loved it.

Heroes bored the crap out of me until the last scene, which was very cool. I missed the first 20 minutes or so because I was watching something on TiVo, and so then I rewound and watched what I'd missed, and soon discovered that I can watch Heroes the same way I watch General Hospital: mostly on fast forward, because I can pretty much write the dialogue in my head. Oh, but Hiro was gambling at the Montecito! Heeeee. Although I don't think it was the Montecito set, but still, funny. And the cheerleader story got me thinking a bit about how our society values teen boys more than teen girls, though I doubt that was their intention. But if they don't stop putting a HYPHEN in MIDTOWN I'm going to have to slap a bitch.

Studio 60 tonight was an awesome commercial for Sting's new album. Ha. So this was not one of the funnier episodes, but it had a lot of heart. The scene where Harriet talks about her past to Martha was surprisingly riveting, I thought Sarah Paulson did a fantastic job. I could easily have watched these two women talk for longer. Not that there was any super surprising information in Harriet's background, but still, a nice scene.

I really loved the revelation that Matt started to break out because he was writing to impress Harry. Incredibly sweet but at the same time makes you wonder why writing for himself isn't good enough. Sweet fucked-up boy.

And the UST was pretty killer in that last Matt/Harry scene. I bought it hook line and sinker. Matt Perry does smitten very well.

Tom was insanely adorable tonight, from the lobster suit to covering for Suzanne to mocking Simon and his mad spy skillz. He's gallant and awkward at once and it suits him. I liked the feeling of family that came through tonight; even if you don't approve of what your family does you try like mad to prevent them from being embarrassed or hurt from it.

Not enough Simon tonight, alas, but the spy thing was so great and I thought he was really funny in the Nancy Grace sketch. Not enough Lauren Graham, either, thank god she's in it next week.

Speaking of the sketches, still mostly not funny. The Nancy Grace sketch had some funny moments and the baby-less sketch was funny to me just because I hate those superior mommy bitch types, but otherwise, there really needed to be less sketches and more heart. Again.

The Jordan/Jack storyline felt extraneous, but what was there was fairly well-done, I thought, especially the Ed Asner scene. And of course Danny coming up to speak to the writer was great, keeping with the theme of protecting/helping out the people in your family -- Jordan is slowly becoming one of them as she continues to prove herself.

Sting calling Cal "Calvin": hee! Tim was so cute in that scene as he watched Sting with a happy look on his face.

Danny didn't have much to do tonight except save Jordan and look hot, but he did those things well. ;) And now we know he's twice divorced and single, which is fine since we know Brad can play emotional fuck-ups well. I just hope they don't plan on keeping him sexless. Assuming the show is on long enough for him to have sex. :P Next week looks hilarious with Jack yelling "Fight me" and Danny crunching peanuts. Awesome. And Danny wants more sketches with Lauren Graham. He is wise. Also, hot.

(And [livejournal.com profile] corellianjedi reminded me that Aaron put the "crack in the schoolyard" line in the episode. LOVE.)

Too bad I've become convinced this show is never going to make a full season. Tonight was a really important night for them ratings-wise, we'll see what happens.

Because [livejournal.com profile] velocityofsound loves me she linked to this description of New York's Flavor of Love spinoff. *snerk* Oh, I can't wait. Although it's possible that would be too horrifying even for me. Take your best shot, Cronin and Abrego!

Your moment of zen.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] md1016!! Your present is on order, I'm afraid -- should arrive in about a week. :) Hope you had a great day.
