hello.

Sep. 19th, 2010 07:54 pm
I don't know you guys, I don't post for a while and then I get intimidated about posting because I haven't posted in a while and it becomes this self-defeating circle. Charming, I know.

Anyway, things have been okay, mostly. Had a fun time at Dragon*Con, rooming with [livejournal.com profile] nnaylime and [livejournal.com profile] zinke and generally just being silly, as usual. The highlights of the con for me were the I Dream of Jeannie panel and the Luke Perry panel. I am not making either of those things up.

And the best part was that a work colleague decided to pay for half of a photo op with the Jeannie cast as my birthday present. Such a super nice guy. Here are the results: Brown rectangle behind the cut. )

By the way, Larry Hagman kept switching between his military cap and a white cowboy hat all weekend. While sitting in a custom-made leather director's chair with his name engraved on it. No really.

The only other celeb I took a picture with was William B. Davis, aka Cigarette Smoking Man. Oh, his panel was a highlight as well. He is so incredibly charming and funny and dapper. A pure delight! Here he is. )

Maybe I'll post some of my shitty Luke Perry pics. If you want to see pics of the other panels you should go check out [livejournal.com profile] zinke's journal.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, and a Happy Belated to my birthday twin, [livejournal.com profile] kirbyfest. Had a fun time at this place in the city that is like a pool hall, except it's ping pong instead. Complete with bar/waitress service, food, DJ, etc. Mucho fun. Helped distract me from how old I'm getting. :(

But, am very happy Mad Men is on tonight and very sad the season's about half over. Glad that Glee and Fringe are returning very soon, at least. Yay.
I managed to get into the Glee panel (which was a madhouse) thanks to the kindness of [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell, [livejournal.com profile] trjeannette, and [livejournal.com profile] careyleah. It is good to have such nice and sneaky friends. *g* Attendees were Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, producer Brad Falchuk and creator Ryan Murphy.

There was a bit of con fail on the part of Fox in that they brought an "exclusive" "highlight reel" for us....which was almost HALF AN HOUR LONG. For an hour long panel. WTF. It was just a bunch of scenes put together. After a while we were all like, this is nice and all, but WE'VE ALREADY SEEN THIS. So yeah. Whoever made that decision does not understand Comic Con at all.

But on to the pictures! Behind the cut. )
Thanks to those who have voted in the picture poll so far! Chuck seems to be slightly leading so I figured I would do that first. Image heavy behind the cut. )
Finally! Of course, I am cheating a bit as I only went to one panel on Saturday. *g* [livejournal.com profile] intopolitics and I got in to Heathrow that morning; our hotel room wasn't ready yet, so we went to the room at the con hotel that [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell had stayed in the night before and crashed for an hour while Nicole went to her photo op. Then when she was done the three of us went over to our hotel for the next two nights, checked in, and Lz and I crashed for another couple hours while Nicole went back to the con. LOL. Luckily the panel with Jamie and James wasn't until 3:30 PM, so I was able to rouse myself by then and head over to the con.

Pictures and video behind the cut. Image heavy!! )
Hi all, thought I would post my pictures and video from the BSG panel at Big Apple Comic Con a couple of weeks ago. Both [livejournal.com profile] zinke and [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell already did great writeups here and here, respectively, so I will not say too much. Oh, and I took a photo with Rekha Sharma, that's behind the cut too.

And away we go. )
OK, so first off, I can't believe I forgot to tell my Dirk Benedict/Richard Hatch story in my last post. So here's that. )

So yesterday was...not so great. I will preface by saying that [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63 is a good friend, and never more so than when she is being the Ethel to my Lucy. In this particular instance, I talked her into attending this with me, primarily for the LULZ and in the hopes of seeing Susan Lucci. (I of course was excited to see Ricky and Chrishell, who portray my favorite soap couple of the moment.) We took our chances and asked for the upper desk of the bus.

Well, yesterday in New York, it rained. And rained. And rained. Yahtzee and I huddled together in our raincoats and umbrellas and drove around the city for three hours. Because of the rain, half the promised cast didn't show up, and half of the ones who DID show up didn't really come up top because of the rain, including the ones I most wanted to see. I will give many thanks to Danny Kennedy and Adam Mayfield for being really awesome about socialzing, though; too bad they weren't the folks I was interested in seeing. :(

They didn't even have the narration going on the tour bus, so there was...no tour. Just randomly riding around the city. With most people on the bus not from here and not knowing what they're looking at. If I were just a little more outgoing I would have gotten up and given my OWN tour. ;) Oh, and to top it all off, we were sitting near the most annoying women on the planet. Loud and shrill and not anywhere near as funny as they thought they were and not intelligent enough to be clever, and.... I don't know, it's funny how PROPRIETARY soap fans are about their stars. Like, when some of the guys did come over, the women were pawing all over them. I would NEVER do that unless it was a photo or something like that. I don't know, it's weird.

Anyway, the day was pretty much a bust, but having Yahtzee there helped a lot, and at least the $$ went to benefit a good charity (Operation Smile), or else I'd REALLY be pissed. And we had a nice dinner at Brooklyn Diner afterward.

Today, of course, was a GORGEOUS, PERFECT DAY, and I might have spent more than a little time being bitter about that.

As for tonight's Mad Men.... you know, they could have an entire hour of Don/Sally scenes, and I would not complain about that one bit.

And how much did I love last week's Psych? "The man cobbles."

And wow, Kanye West is an asshole.

Finally, the extended Lee/Kara scene from TABFAYW BREAKS MY HEART. Fucking Ron Moore.

Happy Belated Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ascian3!
Hi all, finally finding some time to do some con write-up.... so here are my pics/stories about personal encounters with people (including my yearly funny photo op), mostly BSG but also Karen Allen of Indy fame....

Brown rectangles behind the cut. )
This was hands-down my favorite panel of the Con, just for pure joy. You guys, they started off with a JEFFSTER performance. FTW.

Pics and just one vid. )
Here are my pictures and videos from the 24 panel if anyone is interested. In which Kiefer sort of talks to me and Katee and MaryLynn look pretty. )
Hey folks, here are my pictures (and a few videos) from the Psych panel at Comic Con.

Behind the cut. )
So here are the photos of me with various famous types: James Callis, Michael Hogan, Nicki Clyne, Zachary Levi, Robert Englund. Plus a pic of EJO too. :D

Behind the cut. )
I AM SO TIRED. Bone-weary is the term, I think. Well, today I went to the Chuck panel, which was AWESOME -- easily my fave panel that I've been to -- they had a live JEFFSTER performance of "Fat Bottomed Girls." GENIUS. It was so much fun, I hope the whole thing winds up on YouTube so everyone can see it. This cast and crew really know they owe their continued existence to the fans and they couldn't be more gracious and grateful. Love them. Will talk more about it when I get home.

Also made it to the Fringe panel, albeit in a fairly crappy seat. But Josh looked good and he and John Noble are just adorable together. That was a cute panel in that for every question an audience member asked, one of the panelists would come up with a trivia question from the show and whoever got the right answer got a t-shirt. Very cool.

I sadly didn't get to go but I heard the Lost panel was an absolute riot, with appearances by Jorge Garcia, Michael Emerson, and a surprise cameo by Josh Holloway. Definitely will be looking for that online.

Only celebrity encounter of the day was Robert Englund, aka Freddy Krueger. Very nice guy. Got a V-themed picture with him. :D

I did get to see Edward James Olmos at the autograph booth. I almost got a picture with him, but couldn't decide if I wanted to do that or maybe a photo op at Dragon Con, and ultimately decided that either way I would rather get a pic at D*C with my friends around, since that is half the fun. :)

What I am bitter about is that James Callis looked SUPER HOT today in a black leather jacket, OMG. When I took a picture with him yesterday he was wearing a trucker hat. Sigh.

Saw my first Galia (?) from Star Trek today. Surprised I haven't seen more Star Trek costumes. Actually overall it feels like less costumes this year, I wonder if people just didn't want to spend the money.

Walked right behind Adam Baldwin on the way to dinner tonight, that was pretty funny. Then had a lovely dinner and dessert with [livejournal.com profile] eloiseinparis, and now must do a little packing before bed. I get home on Monday and will try to post some pics then. :) Night!
First of all, so I've been "tweeting" (very sporadically) from the con, and today Andrew WK started following me! LOLOLOLOL. Maybe he's a 24 fan since that's mostly what I was talking about. Too funny.

Basic highlights of the day: got in to the 24 panel (and got a decent seat); got my picture taken with James Callis and with Michael Hogan; almost got my picture taken with Adam Baldwin but he had a line and I needed to get on line for the 24 panel, woe; almost got knocked over by Margot Kidder; and randomly took a picture with Zachary Levi on the exhibit hall floor.

You guys, ZACHARY LEVI IS HOT AND AWESOME. I will tell the whole story when I can download the pics. But that was the total highlight of my con so far. Eeeeeee! Now I feel like I have to try to go to the Chuck panel tomorrow, LOL.

I also have to share this: while waiting on line for the 24 panel (for TWO HOURS), I was irritated that a lot of the people in line were clearly Whedon fans who wanted to go to the Dollhouse panel afterward. Apparently two of those people were behind me. The one girl said to the other, what panel is up next? And the other girl said, 24. First girl says, who's in that? And the other girl says, and I am not making this up, "Katee Sackhoff and Kiefer Sutherland." OK, I love Katee and all, but giving her top billing over Kiefer for 24 already had me aggravated, and then, THEN, the first girl says....

"Who's Kiefer Sutherland?"

OH MY GOD. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING AT A MEDIA CONVENTION IF YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT. WHAT THE FUCK.

So then first girl was trying to explain and the only movie she could come up with was "this old movie from the 80s," Lost Boys. I WANTED TO CRY, YOU GUYS. I hope they enjoyed the panel. Little fuckers.

Anyway. I'm so tired I can't even stand it so I'm off to bed. More tomorrow!

Jul. 23rd, 2009 11:12 pm
I've been up since 5:30 AM New York time and it is now 11:00 PM California time. UGH.

Managed to get to the Psych panel today, but missed the first 20 minutes or so because the way they let people into the room is unbelievably stupid. I was very lucky that [livejournal.com profile] juliedarling had saved a good seat for me. Everyone was delightful, as expected, and Dule did an impromptu tap dance, which was awesome. Then a bunch of us, including me, again thanks to Julie, got some awesome swag: a comic book, a "psychic" 8 ball, and a Psych t-shirt! Well played, USA.

The other drama today occurred when I found out that James Callis and Michael Hogan and EJO are here signing autographs!!! How did the internet let me down on this score? I only found out when a friend of mine came over to show off his autographed pics. Olmos said something hilarious to him which I will recount later. Anyway, they are supposedly back again tomorrow so I will go over to hopefully get pictures taken with them. (Can someone tell me how much EJO is charging for autographs at Dragon Con? Wondering if it's cheaper here.)

So, yeah: JAMES CALLIS IN THE HIZZOUSE. I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. YAY.

Wrapped up the exhausting day with a lovely dinner with [livejournal.com profile] juliedarling, [livejournal.com profile] trjeannette, [livejournal.com profile] wmpoty and a few other ladies, which was nice.

Tomorrow the only panel I'm going to try for is 24, which is going to be an insane clusterfuck since Katee will be there too, so BSG fans will also be on line, PLUS, it's the panel before Dollhouse, so all the crazy Whedon fans are going to be on line to get in there too. I'm dreading it already. (But: Kiefer!)

Okay, hopefully I can post more tomorrow night.
Sunday was Dollhouse, followed by Fringe. Dollhouse was the Joss and Tahmoh Show, which let's face it, was basically the Joss and His Scary Fans Show, as all Joss panels are. But, both men were funny and charming and Tahmoh was HOT, holy hell. I was pretty far in the back for that panel, though, so my pictures and video are crap. My best pictures and video are the ones I took of the large viewing screen instead of the ones I took of the men themselves.

Pics and video behind the cut. )

Fringe still to come, eventually.
OK, realized I need to post this stuff in chunks or it will NEVER GET POSTED. So here are pictures and video of Aaron Douglas and friends at the Emissary panel, and pictures of Eve Myles at the Torchwood panel.

This will be light on text, I think, mainly just pictures and videos, since I don't remember much at this point anyway. :P

Friday evening was the panel for "Emissary," a series which does not actually exist yet, created by and starring Philip Morris, aka Jackie Chiles from Seinfeld and That Guy from a bunch of other stuff. I went because also starring in the series will be Aaron Douglas. The other panelists were Brian Thompson, the Mighty Morphin Bounty Hunter from XF, Thaao Penglis from daytime fame, and Yuri Lowenthal, who's apparently been in some stuff.

Emissary panel pics and video. )

Saturday was the Torchwood panel with Eve Myles. Pics and such. )

I'll get the Dollhouse and Fringe stuff up later in the week.

Me and Aaron Douglas. )

Me with John Noble and Jasika Nicole from Fringe. )

Me and David Tennant (kind of) )

Will try to post more tomorrow night. My pictures didn't come out as well as I'd hoped -- they look so much nicer on the little camera display screen! -- but they're not terrible. Need to figure out if the video I took is watchable, too.

BTW, 24 tonight? HOT. What is it with my ships running around brandishing guns together lately? Which reminds me, I need to find a Jack/Renee icon, hmmm.

I worked from home today and got more done than I would have at the office. If I could work from home one day a week, I would be a happier and more productive person. Damn societal conventions! *shakes fist*
Olmos solo, BSG )

In other news, Tina Fey as Sarah Palin on SNL = HILARIOUS GENIUS. The rest of the ep, not so much. Turned it off at midnight.
Saturday started off with me attending a Robert Englund panel, which was described in the program as being about "V." Unfortunately, the panel opened up to questions right away, and all anyone wanted to ask him about was Freddy Krueger and horror movies in general and stuff like that. Ick. Crappy picture here. )

So despite my joy at seeing "Willie" (he was, for the record, extremely well-spoken and intelligent) I only stayed about fifteen minutes. I snuck into the back of the Torchwood panel instead, which had James Marsters in attendance in addition to Gareth. I don't remember much, just Gareth getting asked if he'd like to be the filling in a Captain sandwich, to which he seemed amenable. And someone asked James if he had any interest in doing audio books other than the Dresden Files, and he said "One of those 10,000 books about what a bad president George W. Bush is? I wanna read one of those." Snerk. No pictures because I was all the way in the back. Oh, and the flask chick was back again and wanted James to drink from it and got shut down hard for her shenanigans.

Then [livejournal.com profile] intopolitics and I went to the "Stars of Star Wars" panel, which consisted of David Prowse (Darth Vader), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Matt Wood (General Grievous and a sound guy), Ray Park (Darth Maul), Peter Mayhew (Chewie!), Daniel Logan (young Boba Fett) and Jake Lloyd (young Anakin). This was a surprisingly enjoyable panel, Lz and I were really glad we went. Jeremy Bulloch in particular was very charismatic, and Daniel Logan was delightfully funny and engaging and told some great stories, one of which involved Ewan McGregor. More behind the cut. )

Next up Lz and I made our way to the Micky Dolenz panel. This was DELIGHTFUL. I was a HUGE Monkees fan back in the 80s and still adore them. It was a real fangirl thrill to sit and listen to Micky talk, moreso than seeing Davy Jones perform earlier this year. I guess it was the more intimate setting. Anyway, he told a funny story about an encounter with The Beatles. Behind the cut. )

Then, on to BSG! Panelists were all the same except for Hatch, who was on a 30 Years of Battlestar Galactica panel that day instead so he could re-live his glory days. But everyone else was in fine form! Recap and pics. )

Will do Sunday and Monday tomorrow (is anyone actually reading these?).
