Am here in Heathrow -- currently listening to a group of Americans discuss "Glee" in the hotel lounge, so that's kind of weird -- and am happy to report both Jamie and James are delightful and delicious.

Unfortunately the lighting in the main hall sucks so my pictures didn't come out so hot. This one isn't bad. And I've taken some video. The best moment today was when [livejournal.com profile] airings asked Jamie about the pigeon scene and there was much discussion from both him and James about filming with "the fucking pigeon." Heeeee.

OMG these Americans are becoming classic ugly Americans right now. So fucking loud. Ugggggh.

OK, will wrap this up. More later!

in brief:

I am worried for my girl Allison tonight, even though she was awesome. I hope that America agrees with me that Matt should go, seeing as how the other time they agreed with me, the judges saved him. ;) Wibble. (Also, Jamie Foxx cracked me the hell up. Everyone was apparently transcendentally amazing and well on their way to ruling the world.)

I disagreed with Simon more than usual tonight. Felt like he was having Opposite Day or something.

Fringe was solid tonight, with a great guest star performance. And Peter being hot. And Astrid being smart.

So how about that Arlen Specter, eh? It probably won't change much on a practical level, and it was done for purely political survival reasons (which may not save him if the Dems manage to field a good primary candidate), but it's certainly made for an interesting day. *g* Now if they'd just seat Franken already...

A must-see link for BSG & Lee fans: Jamie Bamber on the finale. While I still think the ending was a piece of shit, he actually did make me feel a bit better about Lee, and for that I am grateful. The clip is worth it for his poetic insight, and hearing him speak French. ;) Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] canadiangirl_86 for the heads-up.

And a must-see link for everyone: Kids' choir singing Eye of the Tiger. Awesome. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jesshelga for the link.

It hit almost 90 today, and is going to have a high of 57 tomorrow. This is how I get sick, people. Not cool. Not to mention the inevitable headache....bah.
Just in case there's anyone on my f-list who cares who hasn't seen it yet: Jamie Bamber for PETA. Jamie, your fangirls thank you for this gift. He commented recently that he's gotten softer, and I can see that for sure, but he's still very impressive. Sigh. Also, he's apparently friends with Lucy Davis! WIN.

Watched L&O: UK and was mostly reminded how much those shows aren't for me. However, watching Jamie be all cocky and smiley and smart made up for a lot. And I thought the rapport between him and his partner was great. "Your blood sugar's low, I'll get you a sandwich." Hee. (BTW, I recognized the older, woman who played the babysitter's mother...where have I seen her before???? It's making me nuts. Was it Doctor Who?)

Michael Cera finally signs on to Arrested Development movie. FINALLY.

Next season of ANTM is going to feature short girls. So nice of Tyra to take pity on a disenfranchised demographic. ;P

Greatest t-shirt ever? Possibly.

Bed now. My mood theme shot is Kara lifting a glass to Jamie's hotness. So say we all.
This week has been dubbed "Lee Week" by [livejournal.com profile] dionusia (check out her LJ for some great stuff), and since I like to think that for me, every week is Lee Week, I had to make sure to commemorate this auspicious occasion. I will actually be posting a Lee-centric guest post to [livejournal.com profile] btlstr_hiatusca in a few days, but in the meantime, I thought I would put together a picspam celebrating my favorite attribute of Lee Adama's.

You get three guesses, and the first two don't count. )
Very quickly:

24 )

Have you seen this news story about a mystery piano left in the woods? Freaky.

You can see a promo for Law & Order: UK here. Too bad Jamie doesn't speak in it. I hope it turns up on a US channel at some point.

Some companies are getting rid of clamshell packaging. Thank god.

No more Amtrak for Joe, woe. Speaking of Joe, the macros in this post had me howling.

Cool Anya photo shoot for ANTM fans.

So, it turns out that in Star Wars, Han Solo was originally conceived by George Lucas as being married to a Wookiee. NO REALLY. Much as I hate to link to io9, they're the ones with the scoop, here. Oh, George. You freak.

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] kopernik! Hope it was a stress-free, fun day.
So on Sunday, my coworkers' flight home to NYC was cancelled because of weather. Oddly, mine was not. In the utter chaos of the three of them trying to find new flights and re-book hotel rooms, I handed one of my co-workers a sheet of paper I had with the hotel's phone number on it. And my BSG panel notes scribbled on the back. And...I realized tonight that I never got that piece of paper back from him. AAAARGH. I am so aggravated about this stupid stupid thing. So I rewatched most of it on SCI FI to refresh ye olde memory.

Anyway, this is not dial-up friendly at all...and if you're still using dial-up, what the hell is wrong with you anyway? ;)

On to the show... )

Overall it was a really fun panel and I'm very glad I made it into the damn room! And I hadn't seen Tahmoh before and now I'm really looking forward to seeing him at Dragon Con (if Dollhouse doesn't put the kibosh on it, sigh). And it was also a nice reminder of my James love, so I can keep in mind that even if Jamie doesn't make D*C, at least James will be there. Sniffle.
Downloading and cleaning up my photos is taking longer than I'd like, so I'm probably going to be posting stuff in bits and pieces. For tonight, since I need to go to bed soon as I'm exhausted, personal encounters! Will try to do the rest (or at least the BSG stuff) tomorrow.

So here's my story about the Jamie signing: I'm waiting on line, probably about the tenth person in line or so. In front of me is this guy who has no idea who Jamie is; he's just going to the signing because he was a fan of the first Pulse movie. (Jamie's signing was to promote the straight to DVD magnum opus Pulse 2.) The lady in back of me only knew who Jamie was b/c her husband is a BSG fan. She and I were talking to this guy, and we were wondering if Jamie was going to allow photographs. Sure enough, people start asking, and what they do is walk around the desk at which Jamie is sitting to sign, put their arm around him and get a picture. Guy in front of me is all, I'm going to get my picture taken with him because he's apparently famous! No joke, that's what he said. So, he gets up there, and asks for a picture, and goes around the desk, puts his arm around Jamie, gets a great shot. Then it's my turn. When I ask for a picture, the lady who's running things is all, "You know what, to save time, can you just stay there?" meaning on the opposite side of the desk. So MY picture is the awkward leaning in across the desk shot, when asshole in front of me WHO DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO JAMIE IS got a nice full body contact arm around him shot. MOTHERFUCKER. I was so fucking PISSED I can't even tell you. SO UNFAIR. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. Ugh.

At least he looks nice in the picture. That one and a few more, plus Sam Witwer, John Barrowman, and Gareth David-Lloyd. )

day 3

Jul. 27th, 2008 02:26 am
Crazy day today.

Photobucket

Jamie Bamber (eeeee). I have a whole rant about what happened to me at the signing, sigh. I did get to see him though and asked him if he was going to DragonCon and he said he might not be. WOE.

Photobucket

Jason Mewes there on the right.

There was also a visitation near our booth from Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, but I didn't see him, just the crowd around him. Couple of my co-workers got to talk to him though. Well, they talked to Robert Smigel, not Triumph, LOL.

Jamie was on the BSG panel! Which I only barely made it into (and actually missed a lot of the video that they showed, grrr). And I was all the way in the back so really just had to watch the big screens, sniffle. Tahmoh also showed up about halfway through. But to be honest James Callis stole the show with thoughtfulness, humor and hotness (season one Baltar hair, yo). Pictures and recap when I get back.

Chuck panel was fun. Zachary Levi is a big dork who seems only slightly resentful of the Cult of Adam Baldwin. They showed a whole bunch of clips from season two which looked fantastic -- apparently there will be a LOT of Chuck/Sara romance stuff next season, which is exciting.

Fringe panel was pretty whatever, except for MR. JOSHUA JACKSON. Guh. So hot, so adorable, and the (male) moderator was a Dawson's Creek fan, which was amusing. He asked JJ what he thought Pacey and Joey were up to now, and he was like, errrr, in a shack on the edge of Capeside with a bunch of kids? "It's not something I've given a lot of thought to, oddly enough." Heeeee. And we had REALLY good seats for that one, only about ten rows back, so it was awesome.

Unfortunately the Fringe signing conflicted with the BSG panel, so no personal interaction with Pacey. Oh well.

Finally a delightful dinner with Jim Butcher tonight and now I'm trying to digest my ice cream dessert before bed. Blurgh.

Me: How was your panel?
Jim: Okay. I mostly tried to keep my mouth shut.
Me: That must have been difficult for you.
Waitress: *eyes grow wide like saucers* I heard that!
Jim: You know you only say these things because you know you can get away with it.
Me: Yep.

Most random thing that happened today: walked out of the exhibit hall at the end of the day and who is standing there chatting with a friend but Sam Witwer, aka Crashdown from BSG! So I got a picture taken with him. He was really nice and hotter in person than he was on the show. I asked him what he was up to and he said he was going to be playing Doomsday on Smallville, so that's pretty cool ("I'm gonna try to kill Superman!"). He's also the human basis for the main character in the new Balance of the Force Star Wars game. Totally random cool encounter and I will post the picture when I get home.

Was fortunate enough to attend a free screening Thursday night, and must say that Run Fatboy Run is a funny, charming, enjoyable movie. Not the greatest or funniest movie ever made, but a true delight. Also, Hank Azaria is essentially naked in one scene, and very ripped, for those of you who will find that appealing.

Last night [livejournal.com profile] oeilade and I went to a birthday party thrown by a friend of mine from college who I only see sporadically...she rented out a private space at an indoor golf club in Soho. You could practice your swing, and there was a pro on hand for instruction, and there was free food and an open wine/beer bar. Needless to say my friend is a lawyer. Ha ha ha. It was one of those slightly surreal NYC experiences, reminding you that you really can do anything in this town. Good times.

I'm assuming everyone has seen the XF2 teaser poster by now, but if you haven't, you can see it here. Fairly spiffy. Speaking of XF, this bit from the Paley Festival is perhaps intriguing from a relationship perspective. Cut for the purists. )

The new Lee promo makes me squee very hard. It could be considered spoilery depending on how much of a purist you are.

Speaking of BSG, nice LA times article on the last season if you haven't seen it. Obligatory awesome Bamber quote: "The end is in sight, for better or worse...Every time I come to Vancouver now there will be a sort of Proustian element and a Pavlovian response." ♥

Speaking of BSG again, the "Revealed" special was pretty encouraging from a shipper perspective, I thought. And the "Phenomenon" special was fluffy but cute.

Article about the Stuff White People Like blogger getting a ridiculous book deal.

Random House is relaunching the Sweet Valley High series and are making teenage girls feel fat in the process. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] corianderstem for the link.

So, um, there's this new particle accelerator that's going to be tested next summer, and there's some concern that it might create a black hole that swallows the earth. I find this a bit troublesome, as I am feeling this is the kind of thing where one should perhaps err on the side of caution.

The Prison Break news has made me very happy. And if you believe the producers' spin that this was their plan all along, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. All I care about is that now I'm actually excited for the new season and will watch it happily. Yay! My show might be coming back to me!

Big bellies can lead to dementia. Well, that's just peachy.

On a more serious note, this past week marked the first anniversary of [livejournal.com profile] dochyel's death. I was too busy to post that day, but seeing all the posts by mutual friends certainly had me thinking about him. You're still missed, David, and we still love you.

Going to see a bunch of apartments tomorrow, wish me luck. Also have something going on that could just be yet another anxiety manifestation, or could be a really annoying medical condition, so fingers crossed for the former would be appreciated. Sigh. It never ends.
BSG on Letterman )

(By the way, it should be illegal for Jamie and Tricia to pose for pictures together, as it is just too much hot....)

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] alissabobissa is looking for reasons to love Battlestar Galactica so mosey on over and share.

I was going to do a Happy Anniversary post for the Iraq War, but [livejournal.com profile] pennilesspoet17 beat me to it, and did it brilliantly.

American Idol results: it was too bad, but I'm not all that surprised. I wasn't all that surprised about the 3rd lowest person, either, surprisingly enough.

Flight 93 memorial will consist of 903 acres.

A co-worker shared this cool link: Modern gadgets presented with vintage ads.

Have you seen Google Sky? Pretty wild stuff.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] bbennett! You are the wind beneath my wings. Or something.
(Awesome icon courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] nnaylime.)

Kitty update: She was doing much better, to the point where this morning I was prepared to say she was back to about 90%, and then the rest of the day I feel she's backslid. Hasn't eaten all that much, has been drinking a lot, and just seems more listless than she was yesterday. Don't know if the crappy snow/rain weather is playing into that; god knows I've been listless today myself. But it's been very frustrating and worrisome. I guess all I can do is see how she is over the next couple of days and then try to figure out if I need to take her back to the vet. Whimper. I've really had quite enough of this already, thanks. :(

I did venture into the city for a bit yesterday, and I guess thanks to my not going in until after dark combined with how ass-cold it was, it really wasn't that crowded, which was nice. Actually got some Christmas shopping done and was bad and bought a Liz Claiborne bag for myself at Filene's Basement. It's similar to this only in teal. I looooooove it. It's such a great size for a work bag for me. It was only $35, and I figured I owed myself a treat what with everything I have going on. :P

I was pleased with the elimination on TAR tonight, and that's really all I have to say about that.

Was that our last episode of Desperate Housewives thanks to the strike? Because, HOLY CRAP! It's not often a show like that can make my jaw drop in horror, but it did tonight.

And although I didn't post about it last week, I just want to say how very much I love Dirty Sexy Money. I love it a lot.

Star Wars galaxy map. Pretty cool. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] velocityofsound for the link.

Why Jamie Bamber wins at life. Although when it comes down to it, I'd rather have had the phone call. Because in the end, it's a dirty towel, you know? I mean, what do you do, stick it in a Ziploc for the rest of your life or something? Hmmm.

Here's a great interview with him, by the way.

Quiz: The Hills or Shakespeare? This was actually a lot more difficult than you might think.

Judd Apatow's take on if the writers strike continues: a re-enactment of Justin Bobby and Audrina on The Hills, by James Franco and Mila Kunis. GENIUS. Seriously, go watch. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] proggrrl for that one.

Pretty wacky news about Six Apart selling LJ, eh? Not sure how to feel about that yet.

And in case I have too much shit going on tomorrow to remember: HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] skywaterblue! My online life would not be the same without you.

OK, off to see if I can get some sleep despite my worry and panic.
Why can't I Love New York be two hours long? It would make me so happy. Spoilers. )

Prison Break: Eh. I still like Sofia, so that's something. It's getting completely out of hand ridiculous that Michael is walking around in that sweatshirt in that heat. Not even pushing up the sleeves? I know the tattoo is a bitch to put on, but COME ON. Oy.

The Hills can pretty much be summed up with Spencer is a douche, but that's how every episode can be summed up, really.

Switching gears:

Dread Central Interviewer: Do you feel like the greatest badass in the world, or do you feel like the greatest badass in the world's son?
Jamie Bamber: I feel like the greatest badass in the galaxy's spurned lover.

Love. Especially how he corrected "world" to "galaxy." Although nothing can ever be as dorky as his Dr. Evil impersonation. BIGGEST DORK EVER. I always fall for the celebs who are spazzes.

In other geeky news, TAR returns on November 4!! Woo hoo! Best TV news I've heard in a while. Viva Laughlin has already been canceled, and I can't say I'm surprised. I'm just thrilled we're getting TAR instead.

Oh wait, I just remembered other good TV news: Joshua Jackson is going to be on Grey's Anatomy. Not that it does me much good, since I don't watch the show, but it's possible I'll TiVo it just to see his scenes. He's looking hot lately, by the way. See? Except for the scarf, anyway.
Hey all, whassup. Had a busy few days and then a slow day today. Thursday night [livejournal.com profile] divanoir and I went to a free screening of 30 Days of Night. It was...pretty much what I expected. I don't normally go to movies like that so I don't have much of a yardstick for comparison. I thought it was a decently done movie, based on a good idea mangled by Hollywood. If you like that sort of thing I would recommend it, I guess. Friday was lunch with the ex-boy and then evening Costo shopping with G. & B., where I bought too much stuff for my nephew, then yesterday was a party at [livejournal.com profile] paleologa's, where I ate the most awesome brisket ever and, even better, she gave me some leftovers and I ate it again tonight. Yum.

Today I went to the local Stop & Shop because they have a Coinstar machine and I had an assload of change. How much of an assload? Thirty dollars worth, my friends. I did some errands afterward and still came out ahead. Awesome.

Also caught up on TV. I love Gossip Girl SO. MUCH. Dan and Serena reduce me to a gibbering fangirl and oh, the bitchery is so sublime and the outfits, guh, the outfits, and did I mention Dan and Serena? Love. I think I'm primarily watching Pushing Daisies at this point for Emerson, who is made of win. Supernatural was WAY too much fun this week, I enjoyed the hell out of that episode. Well done. Viva Laughlin was harrible, as Thom Filicia would say. Did anyone else watch this? They sing WITH the original songs, and the original drowns out the person's voice, and hello, it's Hugh Jackman, why are you covering him up?? And the lead is a douche and oh, it was awful, just awful. Well, one less show I have to concern myself with. And is anyone else still watching Desperate Housewives? I'm enjoying it so much this season.

Bobby Brown to do country reality.

Kiefer dressed as a giant liquor bottle.

Amazing Race DVD Game. Sounds wacky.

My celebrity boyfriend (British edition) is the biggest dork on the planet. But he's wearing a suit and real shoes, yum. And he and Tricia Helfer are so hot together I can't even stand it.

Nicki Clyne and Nick Brendon karaoke-ing "Tainted Love." You can't tell me Nick Brendon is not stoned.

Last bit of BSG: the third webisode is worth watching if you haven't yet, because Adama is totally fighting the original Cylon fighter ships. Awesome.

Japanese people dressing as vending machines to fight crime. I can't make this stuff up.

Everything that's wrong with our healthcare system in a nutshell: United Healthcare posts 15% profit. They brag about not adding "customers," i.e. people who need healthcare, and brag about their "medical ratio" being down, i.e., the amount of claims they reimburse. Remember, every time they pay for your claim, they're losing money, so they try to do it as little as possible. Sickening. Literally.

But hey, as you go through your week, that no matter how bad things seem, at least you weren't attacked by wild monkeys! That's something.
Yes, I am finally getting around to typing this up. There will probably be more comprehensive reports out there, but this one's mine. It's, um, still pretty long. *g* Read along, will you, about the awesomeness of Jamie Bamber, the delightful insanity of Aaron Douglas, and, well, Richard Hatch. I'll have very minor/vague spoilers at the end, clearly marked. However there are season 3 spoilers in here, so if you haven't seen all of season 3 yet, be wary. If you are coming directly to this post, you might be interested in the other part of my con report here, including Jamie sightings, and my post about my personal photo/encounters with Jamie here.

The most important and frightening news is, as many of you have no doubt heard by now, that SCI FI is considering showing the first 10 episodes of season four starting in Jan or Feb 2008...and then not showing the next 10 episodes until 2009. Both Jamie and Aaron made no attempt to hide their disgust at this possibility. As Jamie put it, it's a way for them to get two seasons without having to actually pay for them. So, start writing letters now, I guess, because that would suck a lot.

As for everything else... )

Um, in conclusion, I love Jamie Bamber a lot. The end. :D Seriously, usually the more I find out about an actor, the less I like him, so in those rare instances where it's the opposite (Bradley, Ewan, Jamie), it warms my cold cold heart. All in all, a wonderful experience and I'm so glad that I went.
I really shouldn't feel like I can only post if I have reams of substantive stuff to say about TV or whatever, right? Like, I could just hit send right now and that would be okay, right? Sigh.

I need to respond to comments (I've been loving them, truly) and need to do the rest of my DC report and do a TV catch-up post, etc., etc., but just didn't have time tonight. So I just wanted to say:

Stephen Collins is blogging on The Huffington Post. Yes, Tales of the Gold Monkey/Mr. Faye Grant/Seventh Heaven Stephen Collins. What is so great about this is that unlike pretty much every other celebrity blogger on there, Stephen is in the trenches actually responding to comments and participating in a silly thread coming up with names for an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical about George W. Bush. I kind of love him a lot right now. And once again it begs the question: why is Bradley not doing this? COME ON.

And speaking of celebrities I love, Jamie Bamber did an interview with someone on the Dragon Con staff, and, well:

DD: The writing for Battlestar Galactica is spectacular, in my opinion, as tight and engaging as television series like Aaron Sorkin's The West Wing, and Joss Whedon's Buffy, Angel and Firefly. Do you think you've been a bit spoiled by the brilliance -- that perhaps you might find it harder to work with similar quality material in another endeavor in your future?

JB: Definitely. I've been spoiled; there's no doubt about that. I see it already. I pick up scripts all the time. I've [been] a guest star on TV shows, and nothing comes close to the experience I've had on Galactica. Short of working with Aaron Sorkin, I don't really expect to have any of them top it. I'm a big fan of Aaron Sorkin, and if I get to work with him, I can probably [stop].

HE'S KILLING ME. I'm all swoony Scarlett O'Hara in a corset right now, swear to god.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] nnaylime posted a couple of awesome BSG Adama/Roslin crackvids here. Check out "An Ordinary Man," it is genius.

Oh, hell, let me get some quick TV in:

Rescue Me was awesome tonight. Sean's beer goggles, Lou's temptations, the family AA meeting, etc. Someone needs to explain to me what Tommy is up to, though.

The Hills -- Someone needs to explain to Audrina that when a guy you've been with off and on for two years tells you he doesn't want to call you his girlfriend because he wants to take things slow, it means he wants to be able to sleep with other people. Also, Jen Bunny totally had some work done. Also, Spencer continues to be the douchiest douchebag that ever douched. And you know that he and Brody started those rumors together, so I don't know what Brody is up to. Probably just whatever will extend his screen time, I'm thinking.

Rock of Love -- "Could there BE any more sluts in this house?" No, Jes, the question is, could I love you ANY more than I already do? I believe the answer is no, no I could not. Please get off this show and get a life because you are way too cool for this insanity. Also, if I ever go gay, you are the first girl I'm going to call. Spoilers for the elim. )

General Hospital: I am loving the Georgie/Spinelli, even though it's crazy to think a girl as hot as Georgie would go for Spinelli. That's okay. It's cute. Also, I kind of have a girlcrush on Kate as well. Maybe it's her hair. I'm kind of bisexual tonight, apparently.

OK, I need to go to bed now. The nightmare from work lingers on in an embarrassing way, but something possibly cool happened today as well, so that helped. There may be more to come on that front. Fingers crossed. And I have a 10 AM meeting so like I said, must get off to bed. Will catch up more tomorrow.
Well, I had a horrible commute into work, and then when I got there discovered a complete and utter nightmare that evaporated all my lingering happiness over the weekend, so that sucked, and I am seriously considering a career change because I don't know if I can take this shit anymore. I want to cry just thinking about going in and dealing with more fallout tomorrow. So I'll cling to happier times and write about the con instead.

I took notes at the BSG panels so I'm going to put all of that stuff in a separate post. Here's everything else I did. I recap the random Jamie sightings in here as well. :)

Overall, I can totally see why people get "addicted" to this con. It's unlike any other con I've ever been to, wilder and woolier and overall a very welcoming place. That said I think it would be a much more enjoyable con if it were in a convention center rather than spread out over three hotels, and I know it's easy for me to say that as a newbie, so I'll leave it at that. Apparently attendance was way up this year and the hotels definitely showed the strain. And there definitely needs to be some logistical improvement in terms of getting people into and out of rooms, although that definitely got smoother as the weekend went on. But anyhoo.

Of Buck and Stormtroopers and Weasleys, oh my. )
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA I am such a loser.

God, I have so much to say about this weekend, and even just the little story about this picture will take a few minutes to write up, since it also involves mocking Aaron Douglas to his face. Heh. )

Needless to say, I had a super fun weekend with [livejournal.com profile] em_meredith and [livejournal.com profile] kiss_me_cassie and stalking seeing Jamie and Aaron and Em's BFF Mark Sheppard and everyone else. Way, way too much fun, and now I'm coming down off the Jamie high and it's quite a crash. I'll post a full report, probably a non-BSG one and a BSG one separately. Because while there was Jamie, there was also Gil Gerard and James Marsters and Byers and Frohike and a host of others. I also have to wait for Em to upload her photos because she had a telephoto lens and got some truly amazing shots, many of Jamie stretching, ahem. I will leave you with one of the better shots I got: Aaron, Jamie, Hatch. )

More soon! I cannot even believe I have work tomorrow. Sigh.
Weekend was okay. The spa visit with my mom was eh, the massage was superficial and the $18 manicure was not nearly as good as the $7 ghetto manicure I get at home. Whatevs. My mom had a good time, though, and since it was her birthday present, that was the important thing. Then my nephew literally jumped up and down when he saw me, because he was so excited. Of course, he also does that for chicken nuggets, so I'm trying to stay humble.

I so meant to take a picture of this, but -- on my bed were the same Star Wars sheets we've had since 1977. Boy, are they soft at this point. Hee. But what was so funny was that apparently they recently got an Empire Strikes Back pillowcase somewhere to go with them. Hilarious because we didn't have the ESB sheets growing up, we had the SW ones and the ROTJ ones but not ESB, which always made me sad. So I don't know if they got it at a garage sale or what, I forgot to ask. Too funny.

The Charm School reunion was off the hook, eh? Oh, girls. )

I had been considering going to a free old school rap concert tonight in Brooklyn. I knew it was in a bad area, but was thinking about it anyway. Then woke up to the news that last night two police officers were shot by guys in a stolen SUV 8 blocks from the subway stop I'd have to use. Um, NEVER MIND. Sigh.

Great NYT editorial about the real activist judges.

And another in which Damon Lindelof shares his wish for how Harry Potter will end.

And a funny article for tourists about navigating the NYC subway.

NYC has highest ratio of single women to single men. (Cool map at the link.) I can't wait to send it to my mother. Ha.

The San Diego Comic Con programming schedule is up, and Jamie Bamber is not on it. Alas. It pisses me off considering he's doing every little pissant con that comes down the pike this year, but not, you know, the largest one in existence. But Katee Sackhoff will be there, and Mary McDonnell and Tricia Helfer. They're trying to spin it as a "Women of Galactica" panel which makes me laugh, as you know they only came up with that after they figured out who was able to attend. Also, the BSG panel overlaps with the Supernatural panel, which both Jensen and Jared will be attending. What genius came up with that? There's a half-hour left on the SPN panel after the BSG one ends, so I think I will leave BSG a little early and sneak out to the SPN one. My relationship with SPN is casual at best, but hello, those are some pretty pretty boys and they're probably even prettier in person. And with Jamie not being there and my being unable to attend the Torchwood panel, I gotta get my boy quotient in somehow!

Also, no Lost cast members, apparently. Just Damon and Carlton. Whatevs.
Norm McDonald was on My Name Is Earl tonight and he was funneh. (He is the source of the subject line quote, yes.)

Survivor tonight was a reminder of why I keep watching this show; every once in a while, they pull out something like that. One of the best votes ever. )

Supernatural was fun tonight, although the pace dragged a bit. So many in-jokes, and McG! Ha ha ha ha ha. Oh, McG. You stupid-ass-name-schlockmeister, you. And Dean actually working was hilarious. And Gary Cole! Love.

Finally watched Gilmore Girls. It was okay, but way too much Logan for me. I liked the ending, natch. I also think it's really, really, really, really wrong that Zach is on the show more than Lane. Was Keiko Agena actually pregnant or something?

I just need to make a quick comment about today's General Hospital, I just feel the need to declare my white-hot and abiding love for Tracy Quartermaine. LOVE. Tracy and Luke are by far the most interesting couple on the show right now, IMO. (Which does not, however, mean I want to see them kiss. Ha.) Also, how stupid was Patrick? Very, very stupid. Sigh.

Oh, Jamie:
Out.com: Is Gaeta gay?
Jamie: Almost definitely!

Hee.

On a more sobering note, this is insanity in a sentence: 70 percent of Iraqis lack regular access to clean water, and 80 percent lack toilets that do not contaminate water sources, according to the report.

Canada's health system is both cheaper AND better than the U.S.'s. Gee, what a shock. ...pause, pause, pause...NOT. /Borat

Tomorrow I have a Very Important Lunch and I am crazy nervous about it, so good thoughts would be appreciated seeing as how I'm so anxious about the whole thing that I feel ill. Doesn't help that I've been in the middle of some insanely stressful stuff at work the past couple of days -- I need a break, dammit. Sigh.
I hope many of you were able to partake in the national holiday known as Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day. I got a Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz and it was fabulous.

Tonight my co-worker and I got to go to a screening of Knocked Up, the new Judd Apatow movie starring Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogan. (Being on the list at a screening is the life. You show up, bypass the line, and sit in the VIP section. It never gets old.) It's a very funny film, with a lot of oddly sweet moments despite being largely filthy -- too many graphic sex scenes to really feel comfortable seeing it with a co-worker, thank you very much -- and Paul Rudd is frickin' genius in it. Also, Ryan Seacrest has a hilarious cameo. Even co-worker, who despises American Idol and everything it stands for, admitted, "Seacrest was awesome." Anyway, I highly recommend it. Plus it's amusing to see just how many Freaks and Geeks alumni Apatow manages to squeeze in there.

Speaking of American Idol (ah, I am so smooth with the segues, just like the Seacrest)...man, I hate country music night. No, really. )

In case anyone on my f-list who hasn't seen it might care, Calabasas Magazine (which did that hot Janel Moloney photo shoot showcased in my icon) has done it again, this time with Jamie Bamber and Tricia Helfer taking pictures together. You can see them here. Be warned, your brain may explode from complete hotness overload.

Oh my goodness, there is a baby whale in Gowanus Bay in Brooklyn. Poor thing. Choice expert quote: "My main concern is not what it is doing but simply why it is here. This is not really an environment conducive to its good health." Snerk.
