monday nights are going to kill me

Seriously. Prison Break (Wentworth). 24 (Kiefer). Studio 60 (Bradley). After all I have done for TV, TV is now trying to kill me. Et tu, tee vee?
Prison Break made me giggle and gigglesnort and cackle with delight. Considering how violent this show is, that's quite an achievement. My love for this show can be summed up in one exchange, when Michael was quizzing Kellerman about the logistics of the compound, mapping everything out in his head, and Lincoln told Kellerman that if anything went wrong he'd blow his head off. HA HA HA. I love those boys, I really do. So, yeah, all that stuff was great. I was spoiled for Steadman offing himself but I'm sure it would have been really shocking if I hadn't known about it. And I kind of forgot about the whole Veronica thing until Lincoln brought it up, heh. Wentworth's letting his hair grow in a wee bit and I like it, as long as it doesn't get much longer than that.
The T-Bag stuff was pretty great, mainly because of the crazy ass stuff he was saying. "See what I did there? Maize is the Indian word for corn." "I don't get it, I'm cornfused." HA HA HA HA. Also: CREEPY. Loved the picture of domesticity quickly devolving into terror. Robert Knepper rules.
Bellick: seriously, who the hell cares. I hope they beat the shit out of him. Man, that big guy was BIG. Holy crap.
C-Note: Meh. Although I thought his talking to the doll was cute and funny.
Mahone: I liked that you could tell that was a very expensive white t-shirt he was wearing. Killing the guy: awesome. Calling Bill Kim "Kimmy?" Priceless.
Overall, decent ep, but the real action comes next week and the week after that. Cannot wait.
24 made me scream in surprise. A lot. Whenever I see that guy I think oh, it's Leonard Betts/Dr. Romano. So for a minute I didn't even REMEMBER that he was the guy pulling President Logan's strings last season! AND THEN I DID REMEMBER. HOLY SHIT. THAT IS SO COOL. Just when I think this show can't shock me anymore, they go and do it again. SO MUCH LOVE. And Jack is torturing him already, ha ha ha ha. Brotherly love. And Rena Sofer! That was a nice surprise. Love her. Interesting that she used to have a thing with Jack. Guess they're keeping her in reserve in case they can't get Kim Raver back.
For a split second I thought the bimbo who got in that guy's car was Kim. Whew.
DB Woodside is hot as hell, but, I'm starting to realize that he can't really act. I think in the past I was always blinded by his hotness. Sigh.
I'm kind of loving the guy from The Matrix Reloaded. Wahlid? Anyway, he needs to keep on keepin' on. Regina King is getting annoying, though.
The helicopter scene was off the hook. Look at them, blowing their budget and everything. So adorable.
All in all, mostly a filler episode, but the Greg Bauer reveal was so cool, who cares?
And then Studio 60 was on. And, I think this Monday night lineup is making Jack Rudolph my favorite character. So I just finished watching two hours of the PB boys trying to unravel a government conspiracy and save their skins no matter what it takes, and Jack Bauer beating the shit out of terrorists and saving the world at all costs. And then...there's the people who work on Studio 60, who seem very indecisive and whiny in comparison. Which, you know, normally I'm fine with, but they're really suffering in this lineup, let me tell you. But Jack Rudolph is being all ballsy and take-charge and throwing caution to the wind and saving the day, and I'm like, OK, this is more like the characters I've just spent the past couple hours with, thank god! Seriously, Jack was AWESOME tonight. Loved, loved, loved the scene where he's practicing Chinese outside the concert hall. That was my favorite scene of the episode. Loved every moment of that entire sequence, actually. Loved the boardroom scene, too. Loved him chomping on a hot dog while on the phone with Jordan. He was off in his own cool little show, there. Yay Jack. Who knew??
Anyway. So, I thought that Danny in the Christmas episode was hot, take-charge, going after what he wants (see above). And then tonight he was totally a stalker. WTF. Danny, STOP. STOP IT. Maybe we're getting to see why he's already been divorced twice. The letter of recommendation idea was funny until he actually DID it. Oy. Then again, I thought the scenes for next week looked interesting (and well-lit), so we'll see. But tonight? No. Just...no.
Matt and Suzanne were hilarious together. So happy Suzanne is getting more scenes. Sexyboss, ha ha ha.
Tom and Lucy are so cute I can't even stand it, and part of that is because Nate Corddry is reminiscent of Martin Freeman, but I'm okay with that. Too bad he's going to have to dump Lucy to take the businessman's daughter. Poor Lucy. Poor Tom. So cute.
I think I really love Darius now. I mean, I always did, but now I really do. You show 'em, Darius.
The Jordan story was only saved by her realizing she was being a bitch and apologizing. Because you know what, there ARE good reality shows and bad reality shows -- I watch both, but I know the difference. And people who turn their noses up at all reality shows are usually people who've never seen the good ones (or the bad ones either, for that matter, but anyway). Whatever, Sorkin. It resolved well, though, so I'm mollified. A little. Liked Jordan and Harriet having lunch, that was cute.
All in all, not a bad episode, but Jack's story was the only one with any movement or verve.
Note for GH viewers: Tony Geary returns on February 1st. Thank god. Also, Stuart Damon's storyline may not resolve the way it was originally reported. If I find out for sure I'll let you know. (He's still leaving, though, and apparently very unhappy about it.)
That's all I got. Eye doctor can't figure out what's wrong with my eye, but it looks okay, so...yeah. Story of my life.

Date: 2007-01-23 05:43 am (UTC)I'm so with you on Jack. LOVED him tonight. Danny...ermph. Is it supposed to be attractive? Cause it's just ickyscary. I think that's my biggest problem with the show right now. I like all of the characters except for him, I don't GET him, and I don't think they've really developed him enough to make this stalkeryness understandable. He's just a little assy and creepy, which isn't really working for me.

Date: 2007-01-23 05:47 am (UTC)Hee! Especially with Jack Bauer in the vicinity, I mean, you're already starting from a deficit, there.
I think the one thing that saves the Danny situation is that it's NOT supposed to be attractive. He was acting inappropriately, and Jordan was right to call him on it. I think, I hope, that what we're going to see is him discovering the right way to go about doing this sort of thing.
Then again, I've been wrong before.
Danny is definitely underdeveloped as a character, to the show's detriment. Hello, you have Bradley freakin' Whitford, how about giving him something to do? Because I'm PRETTY SURE he can handle it.

Date: 2007-01-23 05:54 am (UTC)Right. I've only seen a handful of eps of 24, but something tells me he's not shy about hacking off limbs.
Yeah, I agree...it's such a criminal underuse of a great talent. I don't care about the 'ship, but I like Jordan, it's never been an issue with Jordan or Amanda Peet here. The disconnect has always been Danny, which is distressing because it's Bradley freakin' Whitford. I want to like him, I want him to be a great character, and right now, neither is happening.

Date: 2007-01-23 06:51 am (UTC)Jack Rudolph = all sorts of amazing awesomeness. And sigh, Danny. I guess I did like it when he got all excited at the letters of recommendation idea because that really was a cute "AH-HA!" moment, but yeah, like you said, that was until he actually went through with it.

Right. Like, at the very beginning of the episode, the first phone call to Jordan was really cute, when he realized she wasn't coming to the party and was going out of town. That was classic adorable Brad. But then it went to the bad place. Sigh.

For a few seconds, I actually thought the letters of recommendation idea was a joke. I clung to that notion for as long as I could...
Oh and I agree with you about DB Woodside as well - I've only seen the first two eps so far, but he was pretty iffy. I thought he looked like he was going to break down and cry like a girl at the end of the second episode. Or stamp his foot and sulk. And Paul McCrane's back? yay!

Date: 2007-01-23 04:42 pm (UTC)And yeah, DB is not very good in this last episode. Thank goodness he's so pretty.

Date: 2007-01-23 05:00 pm (UTC)This is what I'm saying. Pre-Christmas speech? Awesome and lovable and not a little bit not. Post-Christmas stalking? NOT OKAY. And it's not just the writing--Bradley's creeping me out. Quit that, guys, will you?
Oh my heavens yes. Nate Corddry is, like, twelve, and he has a tiny head, but somehow...cute. And if they end up together, does that mean he's her lobster?
The Hot doesn't hurt, either.
Yes. Nice chemistry between the two of them. On the other hand, why is Sorkin neglecting his man-friends? Why no Matt/Danny this week? What up, Sorkin?
That is all I have to say about that.

Date: 2007-01-24 01:25 am (UTC)And I kind of forgot about the whole Veronica thing until Lincoln brought it up, heh.
Hee, I was even like "Why the hell does Linc care about Veronica the Lawyer? Oh, right, they had a thing." :)
For a split second I thought the bimbo who got in that guy's car was Kim. Whew.
I thought so too - that was a scary moment.
Brothers! I knew about Romano (er, Greg? Whatever.) coming back too, but whoa, brothers! And that kid is sooo Jack's son. I was waiting for the tender father-son piano music to start playing in the background!
Loved, loved, loved the scene where he's practicing Chinese outside the concert hall. That was my favorite scene of the episode. Loved every moment of that entire sequence, actually.
Loved it too! I haven't cared much for Jack either way so far, but in this episode be definitely got me to fangirl him a bit. My favorite part of that sequence at the concert hall was when the daughter told him to her dad that she was quitting viola and taking up improvisational comedy and Jack said "Ok..." and then reached for his little pocket dictionary. Hee!
Danny amused me, but yes, CREEPY. And yes about Tom/Lucy too. Awwwww. I hadn't realized a Corddry/Freeman resemblance but....yes, it's there. Good call. :)

Date: 2007-01-24 03:46 am (UTC)Thank you! He's driving me nuts. Boo.
I think that Kim Raver said somewhere that she was gonna be in a couple of episodes...and that was when her other show was still on the air. It's possible that I totally made that up in my head.
For a split second I thought the bimbo who got in that guy's car was Kim. Whew.
Gah! That would have suuuuuucked.
And your S60 analysis is spot on. Pretty much exactly what I was thinking...though I'm sure that doesn't surprise you. ;)
