guess where i'm not?

If you guessed the Outer Banks, you are correct! Our 12:53 plane to Norfolk VA was first delayed until 2:20; then, around 2 PM they canceled it all together "because of weather," although it has yet to rain more than a drizzle here in the NYC area. Had we actually left on time, we probably would have made it out of here. And as you might have guessed, there aren't a whole ton of flights headed to Norfolk VA every day. So now we're taking an 8:30 PM flight to Richmond, VA, and will start driving to OBX from there when we get in at 10:10. Assuming that flight is not canceled as well. They were canceling or delaying basically every flight on US Air this afternoon.

Oh, and what kind of compensation will we be getting for this? That's right, none. Just a letter saying "Sorry." Never flying US Air again. At least Continental usually gives you a travel voucher. They didn't even give us $5 food court vouchers! Nothing. They suck SO HARD.

So now we're sitting in [livejournal.com profile] oeilade's living room, considering ice cream sundaes to try to numb the pain. Our new ETA in OBX is 1 AM. Please send us travel vibes that we even manage to make that. The NYC severe thunderstorm watch ends at 7 PM according to weather.com, so we're hoping against hope right now.

US Air's customer service has long been along the lines of "hey, we let you buy a ticket, didn't we?" Fuckers.

Ice cream sundaes are good.. or you could just skip directly to applying hot fudge to your taste buds. I've found that works wonders.

May the rest of your travels go smoothly, and the vacation be decadent...

HA. Yeah, that was pretty much how it went. "Customer service" chick was all "Wow, you're giving me the third," when [livejournal.com profile] oeilade dared to ask a couple questions.
