I was 90% sure it was gonna happen, but that 10% of hope wouldn't die, you know? So much for that. Am glad the scene was insanely well done, and Renee is now the only character to get the silent clock twice, but, ugh, I am so upset and angry. I know that as a fan of 24 part of the contract is that NOBODY is safe, except maybe Jack and maybe Chloe, and that is honestly one of the things I love about the show (I mean, when they killed off Palmer, Tony, and Michelle in the course of FIVE MINUTES I thought it was the most amazing thing ever even when I was sad), but this one felt a little too obvious, like, Jack loves her so of course she has to die! Like, they kept talking about how shocking it was going to be, but it really wasn't that shocking. The second Jack said to her "When all this is over, I want to be there for you..." she had a huge target painted on her back, and all us fans knew it. As someone on Twitter said, considering what an awesome character Renee is and how much she has been through, it's really not fair that she gets killed just for being Jack's girlfriend.

I think I'm glad I'd figured out she was going to bite it this week as it meant I spent the last week mourning and preparing myself, but I'm still really sad and upset. And I hate feeling that way over a television show. :P And I hope Annie gets something else soon but now that she's pregnant that probably won't happen in the near future.

And the saddest part is I can't even fully appreciate those INCREDIBLY HOT scenes between the two of them, GUH. Thank you, 24, for letting us know exactly how long the sex lasted and that Renee was on top. LOL. And what slays me so much is how damn HAPPY Jack is that scene in the bed. He's practically GIDDY, which is so UN-BAUER-LIKE that it just underscored that Renee was a dead woman. I am trying to console myself with the fact that Kiefer suffers beautifully and there will be much Jack angst and Jack on a vengeance quest. But.....couldn't they have killed her off later in the season????? There were way too few Renee eps this season. I don't think the showrunners realized how popular she was. Sigh. (Not to mention the backlash they're gonna get for killing Renee but keeping Dana around, LOL.)

Oh well. I just had to get that all out, for myself. I am very very sad. :(

I was just going to mention that! Jeeeeeeeez.

Those moments had a lot of impact, but it also felt kind of...I don't know...cheap? Like they didn't really earn it. Maybe if they'd waited a few episodes to fake us out it would have been shocking, but killing her mid-afterglow was a little trite.

Yes. This. Exactly. It felt more like they were trying to get Renee out of the way, or trying to set up something for the movie, like they were forcing the plot points into place rather than letting them happen organically. Like [livejournal.com profile] dianora2, I was also hoping they wouldn't kill her, but I wasn't surprised that they did, but I'm still pissed.

Completely agree. They wanted it to be so super shocking, but it really wasn't. Would have been more shocking if they HADN'T gone that route.
