how footwear, or the lack thereof, represents love

So, during last week's tragic 24 episode (*sob*), there was one detail that really just slayed me. You see, poor Renee got shot literally three minutes after she and Jack finished having sex, while Jack was in the kitchen getting a glass of water. (Dear Jack: next time you have sex, CLOSE THE BLINDS.) This means Jack carried Renee out of the apartment, down to the street, into a cab, and into the hospital, with her just wrapped in a bedsheet, and him wearing the pants and shirt he threw on to go into the kitchen....and nothing else. See?
He's BAREFOOT, you guys. He ran out into the streets of New York City in his bare feet! Because he LOVES HER. Oh man.
Also, look at this face as he waits to hear her fate. OMG. Oh Kiefer.
ANYWAY, the whole thing with Jack's bare feet reminded me of another example of someone's feet indicating an expression of love. And for that we have to travel back in time to 1998 and another tale of law enforcement agents in love...
I remember this was a detail that was actually pointed out to me byeloiseinparis: when Mulder wrapped nekkid Scully in his outerwear while rescuing her from aliens, he also took the time to put his own socks on her little cold bare feet! Clearly that he would think to do such a thing showed that he loved her! This led to our slogan for the film, "It's all about the socks." (Yes, we were cheesy dorks. This should not surprise you.)
And that, my friends, is why it's always important to pay attention to the details. Because there just might be a love letter somewhere in there.
