meathead makes everything funnier

Thanks so much to everyone who's commented with good thoughts for my kitty. It really means a lot and helps more than you know.

I shall now try to focus on the night of pretty men. :)

I think I fall a little more in love with Michael Scofield every week. He totally ALMOST CRIED when Linc was leaving. GAH. I love him so much. And that look he gets when he's desperately trying to salvage a plan that has gone off the rails, and his APOLOGY to the two women, and the way he laughed when 50 Cent C-Note made the KKK joke -- LOVE. And he is still mailing cranes to Sara and I am convinced that when he finds out her father is dead he will try to contact her again because he will feel so sad for her. LOVE.

Never leave Sucre alone with an intellectual superior, it will not end well.

Totally knew Tweener was going to a different house, but I didn't expect it to be Chickie's. That was pretty great. And wow, okay, Mahone is A PSYCHO. Interesting that he is now essentially the bad guy, when that's not what I thought he would be. Rest in peace, Tweener, I won't miss you all that much. But I like the way you went out.

And ohnoes Sara! I am not worried for her fate but still, eeeeek!

I commented in [livejournal.com profile] crossmymind's LJ that I'm not surprised that Linc didn't immediately figure out LJ going free was a trap, but Michael should have. I'm choosing to believe that Michael just didn't see the point because it wouldn't stop Linc from going.

Awwww, evil Kellerman totally likes Sara. How bizarre. And THREE WEEKS until the next episode?? AAARGH. I mean, I knew back when the season first started that there would be a break for baseball, but I had managed to put that out of my mind. THREE WEEKS? Not to mention the hiatus it will take in the winter. I really don't know how I'm going to manage it.

I'm still undecided on Heroes. I thought the ending was pretty cool and Greg Grunberg is love, but, eh. I'll probably keep watching for now just because nothing is on opposite it. And because the Indian guy is really hot.

Danny drives an SUV and that makes me love him a little less. So, I'm a little disoriented that Jordan got a lot of the best lines in this one. Amanda Peet is growing on me -- she's not there yet, but she definitely has potential. Having good dialogue helps. It's also entirely possible I'm becoming a bit of a Danny/Jordan shipper. It was kind of cemented when she gave Matt a chaste little kiss on the cheek and then totally planted a big one right on Danny's mouth. Plus I just think the whole idea of a network president sleeping with the executive producer of her hit show is really sexy. Okay, moving on.

Evan Handler is not being given enough to do. That said, I liked the scene with him and Danny and Ron when Ron had memorized the quote. Innnnteresting. Ricky and Ron are no Matt and Danny, and not just because they're not as good-looking.

My Simon love continues to grow exponentially. "Okay, seriously, I'm scared out of my mind." And introducing Tom to the hot girl! Hee.

Liked Harriet a lot, thought she had a point about the small towners. More importantly, I thought the bear thing was really funny and I'm not even sure why. But I laughed very hard. I also liked her pointing out the overload on religious jokes, playing the part of the audience. The Matt/Harriet scene at the party was the most adorable thing ever and her doing Holly Hunter for him was utterly charming and I am completely enamored of them as a couple. However, I don't buy for a second that Harriet wouldn't know how the focus groups work. It was a very Josh/Donna exposition moment.

Jack's 9/11 comment hurt, HARD, but I think it was supposed to, so okay. I liked the scene where he told her about her ex-boyfriend, felt very genuine.

I think they should show less of the sketches that are on the show, because seriously, they're not that funny. I was not a fan of that montage, I really wasn't. I'm guessing it won't become a habit because tonight it was just to show how they're on a roll or whatever, but still.

There are so many actresses who would have been a funnier Jeannie. Sigh.

Danny's line to Jordan about only endangering himself felt a bit too much like Sorkin trying to defend himself. Stop it, Aaron. You do shrooms for fuck's sake. That said, the expression on Danny's face when he sees the article...GAH. I'm so in love with this character already.

One of the awesome things about this show is having someone like Rob Reiner on and he's barely in it.

Danny and Cal yelling at each other across the stage was love. Danny at rehearsal with his arms draped over the sides of the chairbacks was also love, in a different way. Rowr.

Speaking of rowr: the sand scene. Holy LORD. Slashiest scene EVER. The way Danny was wriggling on top of him? OMG. Also, good job on the tackle and fall. "What should we do?" "Get off of me." And then they still had sand on their jackets later. Hee. Liked that Danny had the question put in there to rile Matt up. Also loved Matt's line about saying something about the Democrats if they would just say or do something. Amen, Matty, amen.

And Danny dancing with Harriet was so hot I can't even stand it. Okay, Harriet was kind of nonessential there, Bradley Whitford dancing like that was so hot I can't even stand it. SO HOT. He was so good! And limber. Did I say rowr? And I only imagined it was Josh and Donna dancing at their wedding for ONE SECOND, really. And I liked how it was Danny and Harriet fast dancing the week after Harriet making the comment about Matt being jealous if they slow danced. Nice.

The ending montage was lovely. Ending montage good, skit montage bad.

It pained my heart to see all the talk of audience retention when the retention for S60 has not been good. Wibble.

Almost forgot -- Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] em_meredith! Hope it was a great one.

TOTALLY AGREED on the dancing. OH man, he was so hot there. Even my mom said something about it.

And Matt/Harriet is so freaking adorable and so much love and GUH. :D

Is it just me or does Studio 60 have like, one good scene for every bad scene? For every scene where Sorkin starts going off on how his drug use doesn't hurt others (Oh, like, your wife and daughter, you fuckhead? Seriously, you want to do cocaine, that's fine with me. I actually don't have a problem with drug use, so long as you're aware that other people are getting hurt)

And there's a scene like the big three making jokes while the power flickers on and off. Or the bear thing, which was funny.

I liked Jordan a lot tonight. But mostly my heart is all aflutter with "MATT/HARRIET = LOVE FOREVER." Yes.

::glares at sloooow download:: Hurry UP so I can say something intelligent about this episode, please!

Did Danny drive the SUV again tonight? I was hoping that was his PA's car he drove in the pilot.

Sorkin needs to do a quick reveal on which characters are Jewish. I have a paper to write, dammit!

[identity profile] skywaterblue.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
In the pilot script it was Matt.

Danny was driving the SUV, yes. It made me v. v. sad.

I was spoiled for the Tweener's death, knew that he would be in custody and knew that Mahone would be in hot water because of it, and I was still SHOCKED when I saw how it happened. Which for the record is the first time I have ever been able to say that about anything on Prison Break.

My love for Kellerman grows exponentially with every scene he is in. With my luck, he'll end up dead after the baseball hiatus.

[identity profile] dianora2.livejournal.com 2006-10-06 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
That icon cracks me up.

Never leave Sucre alone with an intellectual superior, it will not end well.

Okay that made me laugh A LOT. Oy.

And I only imagined it was Josh and Donna dancing at their wedding for ONE SECOND, really.

Oh my god yes! Yes, yes, yes. I think I just squealed a little.

[identity profile] kradical.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't imagine for a second that it was Josh and Donna because one of the things Brad is doing so very very well here is not being Josh. Part of why this show is working is that this isn't Josh and Chandler, it's Danny and Matt. There was precisely one Josh moment in the whole episode tonight, and it was when he yelled "Cal!" after the second blackout in the exact same tone Josh used with Donna. Otherwise, he even played the kibbitzing scene differently -- when Josh kibbitzed, he leaned forward and gestured a lot; when Danny kibbitzes, he's laid-back and relaxed. (Kinda the difference between D.C. and SoCal, really....)

[identity profile] dianora2.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't see him as Josh at all, it was just me having a little delusional fantasy moment, like in My Fellow Americans when Brad is rolling around in bed with a blonde.... *g*

One of the awesome things about this show is having someone like Rob Reiner on and he's barely in it.

And referencing All in the Family in the same ep!

It pained my heart to see all the talk of audience retention when the retention for S60 has not been good.

I feel your pain. I have to wonder just what Sork's retention quota is.

Only just catching up now - I saw your post about Miss Parker. I hope she's okay - make sure they check her for circulatory stuff as well, because sometimes blood clots can cause mobility problems in the back legs. She's young, though, so it seems much less likely that she'd have a serious problem. My enormously fat, bad-tempered black cat lived to be eighteen.

[identity profile] dianora2.livejournal.com 2006-10-06 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I didn't know that about the circulatory issues, I will definitely keep it in mind. She seems to be moving much better now, so we'll see.

I hope your kitty is doing better. Mine recently got so sick I had to leave her overnight at the animal hospital. She would just lie on my bed a growl in a "I feel absoltely awful" way. I've never been so scared in my life. I can only imagine what it must be like when you have kids.

As for Studio 60...

There are so many actresses who would have been a funnier Jeannie. Sigh.

True... but there are few actress that would have brought the sweet, gentle nature to a character that has basically been introdiced as Matt's friend with benefits. She could have easisly been "Sally" from Studio 60", instead she was something completely different. And yet as sweet as she is... she still has no problem calling Matt and Danny "Idiot Boys." I like that about her.

And I only imagined it was Josh and Donna dancing at their wedding for ONE SECOND, really.

I did NOT have you restraint!!

[identity profile] dianora2.livejournal.com 2006-10-06 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, poor kitty. I hope she's doing better now. It's true, I can't imagine what it's like to have an actual human being to worry about. Animals are hard enough.

And Jeannie isn't terrible, or anything, I just think she could be...better. Sigh.

[identity profile] yahtzee63.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I am totally with you on the Simon love -- the more DL Hughley gets to do, and the sooner, the better. :D I enjoyed the rest of the episode overall.

[identity profile] deelaa.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn it, you took all the comments right out of my head!

Especially these, were exactly the things that stuck out for me the most:

-Danny and Cal yelling at each other across the studio. The way he said "akay" at the end was my Josh moment of the night.
-The dancing at the end.
-WHY did I laugh so hard at Harriet's bear thing?
-Sorkin's drug rationalization was a little much.
-Harriet is becoming Donna with the asking questions about polling, uh, ratings and talking about small towns where they make bread.

her doing Holly Hunter for him was utterly charming

Yes. I have this fear that Sarah Paulson is tragically unfunny, which would be bad, as they're trying to convince us of how funny Harriet is. But when she busted out the (spot-on) Holly Hunter accent, I totally giggled. Maybe she's a little bit funny (to be clear, I want SP to be funny. I'm just not sure it's in her blood.).

I don't buy for a second that Harriet wouldn't know how the focus groups work. It was a very Josh/Donna exposition moment.

Seriously. Harriet: "How do focus groups work?" Me: "Okay, Donna." Eh, he likes explaining things, and she lets him.

I think they should show less of the sketches that are on the show, because seriously, they're not that funny. I was not a fan of that montage, I really wasn't.

Me neither. Let's not do that again, okay, guys?

There are so many actresses who would have been a funnier Jeannie. Sigh.

Yeah. She's a non-entity. I didn't even remember who she was, until someone called her by name. If she and Sarah Paulson end up being not funny, then things are going to be problematic.

Danny and Cal yelling at each other across the stage was love.

I have love for Cal, and he's barely even been on. But I love watching him and Danny interact so much that it doesn't even matter. CAL.

And Danny dancing with Harriet was so hot I can't even stand it. Okay, Harriet was kind of nonessential there, Bradley Whitford dancing like that was so hot I can't even stand it.

I know. I'm not even a coveter of BW, so much, and I was thinking, "OH, that's the best thing EVER! Look at him DANCING! He never danced with Donna, not really. Stupid. But look at the dancing!"

Yay. S60.

Danny/Jordan shipper

Did you notice how he totally ogled her ass when she was walking away from him in the hall?

Oh, the HoYay! of the beach tackle. I love it!

Cal and Danny yelling across the stage was my favourite part.

[identity profile] dianora2.livejournal.com 2006-10-06 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Did you notice how he totally ogled her ass when she was walking away from him in the hall?

I didn't, LOL. But then, that could just be Brad, since he does seem to have a habit of doing that sort of thing. *g*

[identity profile] badboy-fangirl.livejournal.com 2006-10-06 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I may be in love with you. Word to everything you said about Studio 60... I mean it, every cottonpickin' thing you said, I totally agree with (especially the montage hate part, I was like, Hmmm, am I the only one who thinks this is a waste of airtime?). I hope that this show gets more popular as it goes on and does not go the way of Sports Night, although SN did get two seasons because even when it's not popular, everyone knows Sorkin is a friggin' genius.

Anyway, I also loved your mention of Josh and Donna...*sigh* Honestly, what is Janel Maloney up to? Why can't they just be the Tracy/Hepburn of TV and do everything together? I would always, always watch, and long, and long, and long. I mean, we had to wait so long for Josh and Donna and it was so worth it. I did notice Jordan kissed Danny on the mouth though, a dead give away of where that's headed. But then again, if given the chance, I'd kiss Danny on the mouth too. Even if it headed nowhere :)
