oh, oh, we're halfway there
May. 1st, 2007 11:30 pmSo....this may be crazy, but today I bought Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova for my PS2 to use for exercise purposes. I went to the nearby Gamestop and asked them for the bundle with the mat, so the sullen clerk went and got one from the back. It looked a little dinged up, but I figured, it was sitting in the back, whatever. I go back up to the office. Before I leave for the day I decide to actually inspect the box and realize that everything is open -- the box is open, the game box itself is not sealed, etc. My co-worker is like, "Oh, it's fine," but the more I think about it the more pissed off I get. So after work I go back and explain the situation to the one female clerk, who goes and gets me a sealed one from the back.
Which means there was a sealed one back there, but the boy clerk decided not to give it to me. Can we talk about how much I hate gaming stores? I have never gotten good service from a male clerk in a gaming store. They completely ignore you, and then when they have to talk to you, treat you like you're an idiot. Grrrrr.
Anyhoo. I hooked it up tonight and figured out how to play and have already cleared the beginner and intermediate levels on easy. I win at life. Or something. And it has songs like "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and shows the actual 80s video while you're doing the steps. Too cool. There is an actual workout mode which shows you how many calories you've burned, that's the mode I plan to use normally, but tonight I had to do the gaming!
I did watch TV, though.
( Gilmore Girls )
( American Idol )
I don't have much to say about last night's 24, except that I love Jack's mangst and eat it up with a spoon. Oh, and Tom's OMGWTF face when talking to Powers Boothe was CLASSIC. Otherwise: meh.
Last night and this morning the lights started flickering in my apartment. Now, I have a condition where my retinas have pulled back from eyes, so I get a lot of floaters and stuff and live in constant fear of the day one of them detaches completely and I have to have surgery. So when the lights started flickering, I could not tell if it was the lights, or my eyes. This morning I became convinced it was my eyes and I was freaking out, planning when I could call the doctor, hoping I wouldn't need surgery, etc., etc. Also, and here's your insight into the mind of a hypochondriac, I remembered how some character on TV who had a brain tumor complained about flickering lights, so clearly I have a brain tumor, etc., etc.
Yeah, I get outside and realize it was the lights in my apartment. All of them. And in the foyer were tools and a light bulb and I don't know, something is going on. WAY TO FREAK ME OUT, LANDLORD. THANKS. Sigh. Just another day in the life.
Last night I also went to the TWoP ANTM boards as I do occasionally to find out what past models are up to. It's kind of not worth the blood pressure raising, though, because the boards are just filled with people who do nothing but wait for pictures of a model to be posed and then say, "Ugly!" or "Hate them!" or "Doesn't look like a model to me!" Seriously, how devoid of entertainment must your life be? Oy.
But, it's all worth it because I found these awesome pictures of my reality OTP, Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry. ( Where is my season 3 of My Fair Brady, dammit. )
In other news, here's an article to make you queasy: Most Katrina Aid from Overseas Went Unclaimed. One of the most depressing articles I've read in a long time.
Lastly, I liked this meme so I snagged it from
paleologa: This is a list of the 50 most-visited (non-religious pilgrimage) tourist attractions in the world. Bold where you've been, italicize where you WANT to go, and name one place you want to go that is NOT on the list. ( Behind the cut. It helps if you live in NYC. )
Okay, this post is insanely long, and I have an early meeting tomorrow. I've also been on the near-verge of panic attacks today and yesterday about various things, isn't that great? (That was a rhetorical question.) Need to try to calm down a bit. Peace out.
