of archaeologists and housewives
May. 25th, 2008 11:58 pmWent with
oeilade and
divanoir to see Indiana Jones... this morning. I had a truly brilliant idea to go to an early show (the ex-boy and I used to do that once in a while for big movies), and, on top of that, went to this movie theater on the east side that no one ever goes to, and it has this huge theater built in the 1920s with a big balcony and an enormous screen, it's really the second best screen in New York after the Ziegfeld (you can see it here), and, so, the upshot is, we got there and at first there was a grand total of one other person in the theater. We sat front row center in the balcony. Eventually about 8 or 10 other people joined us as well...and that was it. It was AWESOME. I have to remember to do that more often.
As for the movie...I unequivocally, unabashedly, unashamedly, LOVED IT. I loved everything about it. Was it the greatest film ever made? No. Did I adore nearly every moment? Yes. I could have lived without the gophers, but that's about it. I loved that just as Raiders was an homage to 1930s serials, this movie was a great 1950s pulp film. ( Spoilers. )
I also watched the season finale of Desperate Housewives today and....WTF? I was kind of with them for a while there, except for the Gabby and Susan stuff, which....no. Also, is this going to become a trend? They're at least the third series to use this conceit, and it's getting old. Next season will be very interesting...I admit I am trepidatious.
Another article on Idol which has some interesting chatter about why they don't reveal voting margins on the show more often.
Apparently chipped fingernails are a new trend. I had no idea my laziness now means I'm in fashion. :P
NYT ran a focus on my neighborhood which only highlighted how lame it is. I love how in talking about what there is to do there, they basically have to admit there's nothing. Ha.
The weather this weekend has been absolutely glorious, for which I am grateful. We should have at least another week of it before summer hits. :P
