Wound up going for a massage today; even though it took a big chunk out of my day, I think it was the right thing to do. Am in pain and feeling vaguely ill now, but it's for the good. (For NYC peeps, I highly recommend Supple Spa if you just want a no-frills, super-thorough massage -- not a high-end spa experience, but perfectly okay and a really good massage for only $65/hr.)

Came home and caught up on some TV including the season finale of In Plain Sight (errr...huh?) and tonight's I Love Money (Megan is gonna win this thing, I swear, and then the earth is going to implode) and Mad Men (FLAIL). More on Mad Men. )

Speaking of Mad Men, [livejournal.com profile] daygloparker linked to this post on [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt full of DELECTABLE photographs of Jon Hamm. GUH.

And speaking of guh, [livejournal.com profile] _jems_ has a list of her top five romantic moments, and one of them is the Josh/Donna snowball scene from West Wing, and it reminded me that it's probably my single most favorite scene in that entire series (as my past banners and default icons indicated). Pure perfection. Go watch and relive the magic, won't you?

So, is it weird that I'm more excited about/plan to watch more of the Democratic National Convention than the Olympics? I'm okay with that. I checked the schedule: tomorrow night is Michelle Obama, Tuesday is Hillary Clinton and Mark Warner, Wednesday is Joe Biden and Thursday is of course the man himself. Woo hoo! Now to juggle my regular viewing schedule around it...

Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] jjworld today! And Happy Belateds to [livejournal.com profile] sternel and [livejournal.com profile] suehypno -- so sorry I forgot last night!
I thought Michelle Obama did really well, although I absolutely loathed what she was wearing (seriously, WTF?). Great speech, well-delivered. Those two girls are ADORABLE. At first I was like "Take the microphone away from the 7 year old" but then it turned out to be super cute. Hard to top a cute seven year old spontaneously telling her daddy she loves him.

The Ted Kennedy piece almost made me cry. I'm so glad he was able to be there tonight and I hope as hard as he does that he will be there in January to help push through health care legislation. Health care is a right, not a privilege! Dammit. On a related note, here is a great article about a man who founded a volunteer medical corps to assist people without health insurance. And a related article here, about a woman who wants the volunteers to pull all her teeth so they'll stop becoming infected. People camp outside overnight to see these doctors and dentists. In the United States of America. So fucking shameful I can't even bear it.

Nancy Pelosi, not so great with the public speaking, but she held her own later when Ann Curry interviewed her for five minutes and spoke/asked about nothing except Hillary Clinton. Jesus. Actually, the first 20 minutes of MSNBC I watched was nothing except the "pundits" obsessing over Hillary and her CAH-RAZY supporters, those skeery womenfolk! Talking heads make me want to kill myself, for reals.

John and Teresa Kerry, awww. I miss you guys! John Kerry is getting interviewed by David Gregory and Teresa spends half the time with her hand on her husband's thigh. I love her.

Probably about time I get an Obama icon, hmmm.

Hillary tomorrow, which I'm looking forward to, but only for the speech itself, not for the lather the conventional media blowhards will work themselves into over it. Ugh.

Meanwhile, at least four people are under arrest in Denver tonight under suspicion of plotting to kill Barack Obama. It'll shock you to learn one of them was wearing a ring with a swastika on it. I hate people. Although, unlike these asswipes, not enough to actually try to kill somebody over it. :P

Moving on to a much more vapid subject: The Hills. You know, it never ceases to amuse me how little Heidi is in the opening credits. Couple minor thoughts on tonight. )

In news that had me checking the calendar to make sure it wasn't April first, American Idol is adding a fourth judge. I find this to be sick and wrong.

Susan Lucci is going to be on Dancing With the Stars this season! That's almost enough to make me watch. Almost.

Handy list of fall TV premiere dates. I can't believe Gossip Girl and Prison Break are so soon -- and on opposite each other. Dammit.

Alternately hopeful and depressing article about a science teacher's quest to teach evolution in a Florida high school.

British tourists behaving badly.

Lost casting spoiler that has me VERY ANGRY. VERY ANGRY!

I saw a chick with this bag on the subway the other day and now I want it really badly. Looks like eBay might be my only hope, if someone would list it already. Grrrr.

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] suricattus! I'm very envious of where you got to spend it.
