geeks don't always need to unite

Wound up buying BSG 4.0 at Best Buy tonight with girlunravelled as it was the same price as Amazon, plus instant gratification. While we were perusing the display and I was trying to decide whether or not to get the special exclusive edition (I ultimately decided against), this nerdy dude was on his cell phone having the same quandary. Only for different reasons.

(Please imagine this in total stereotypical nerd voice.)

"Yeah, I don't know which to get -- I like the art on the special edition better because it has Tricia Helfer on it, and I'd much rather look at Tricia Helfer and she's really hot. And Katee Sackhoff is on the other version and I'd rather look at Tricia Helfer than at Katee Sackhoff because Katee Sackhoff is SO ugly."

LOLOLOL. (girlunravelled was amused that I actually laughed out loud at him. Why, was that wrong? *g*) Anyway, as I noted as we were leaving, he would be lucky to get a woman who looked anything remotely like Katee. LOL. Ah, good times, good times.

Perhaps my favorite part was that this guy could have taken the chance to chat up two attractive women who share his geeky pasttime, but instead chose to expose how incredibly superficial he is instead. Hee.

In other BSG news, taragel is setting the internets on fire with her BSG Facebook spoof, and with good reason, as it is HILARIOUS. "Dr. Gaius Baltar became a fan of himself." "7 million of your family and friends attended the event: The Destruction of the 12 Colonies." Etc. Genius.

For the record I'm not worried about the LJ layoffs, as my company laid off three times as many people and we aren't going anywhere (so far as I know *g*). Just a sad sign of the times.
