Yeah, so, that pretty much broke my brain, in various ways.
Ummm...this is probably going to be pretty incoherent.
On the one hand, I LOVE the flashbacks, as it gives us insight into these characters that we didn't have before. On the other hand, part of me is like, you only have a few hours left and you're spending time in the past? I'm trying to get over that part.
One by one:
Adama's flashback: don't know enough yet to say. But I will say for
oeilade's benefit that it reminded me of the beginning of Robotech with Gloval in the limo: "All right, I'll wave, I'll wave." Ahem.
Laura: OMG heartbreaking. And we see the beginning of her closing herself off (and reacting to grief in odd ways). The sushi made me LOL a little. The call about Adar's campaign totally reminded me of ITSOTG, there's a shout-out to my West Wing peeps.
Gaius and Six: Oh Gaius. "I drink, he drives." I heart you. And HIS DAD, OMG. "He changed his accent!" Loved that callback. And of course his dad is like that. And awww, he was taking care of his father, you guys, even though he hated it and wasn't very good at it. LOL. And wow, Six just completely insinuated herself in his life. Damn she was good.
Lee, Kara, and Zak: UM. WOW. The look on each other's faces when she opened the door, gah. And Lee and Zak together clenched my heart. The actors were so great and natural together, it made me verklempt. And Kara happy and warm but still teasing Lee about playing cards with him because he's such a bad liar. (He's always been a bad liar!) And then we see him in the same shirt the next morning, looks like, drunk off his ass and talking about double dog dares. And in the Battlestar Special promo we saw Lee and Kara sitting alone at a table in those same clothes. I am envisioning kissing dares, people!!! Which helps explain why they've always thought they don't deserve to be together. Oh, self-flagellation, you are responsible for so much angst. And they managed to look so young and adorable! Oh, pilots.
The bit with the pigeon was ridiculous, though, especially since that was the last Lee flashback we got, LOL. (I take it the pigeon was Kara, ever just out of his reach. Whatever.) But damn did he look HOT in that Viper jacket! Holy hell.
And then we go back to the present with his out of control hair and it's like a slap in the face. Heh.
Lee/Gaius scenes make me happy because of the pretty and because I imagine Jamie and James palling around between takes. Loved Gaius calling Lee out on letting his personal feelings for Kara affect him. And Lee is still pissy about it, awww.
Chief is a big party pooper, huh? Although his line to Tory "like you have anything better to do" was priceless.
Poor Sammy still in the tub. He was hot in the flashback tub, though. I actually thought that was a really great moment, with him rhapsodizing about the physics and science and beauty in the universe etc. etc. Nice touch.
Poor Sharon and Helo. This is when it gets annoying that they started all this stuff so late in the season, because there is SO MUCH to mine there between them right now and we probably won't have a chance.
Hey look, Bill Adama found his balls! How nice. I like bellowing, inspirational Adama so much more than whiny drunk Adama. That was a really awesome scene, with everyone gathered in the hangar and picking their side, literally. I loved that Lee walked over first (and I am SO GLAD HE IS GOING WITH THEM, HOMG). And the Adama/Cottle scene, heeeee. Surprised that Ishay went over, actually.
And I assumed that Gaius staring at Caprica + Lee accusing him of never doing anything selfless in his life was leading up to him crossing the line...but then he didn't. I have to assume he does, though, since that's so obviously where they were going with that.
Ellen to Tory: "you never could stand to be alone." I love everyone slamming on Tory in this ep, LOL.
Did Hoshi cross the line?
Lee in his uniform with that hair was LOLtastic. I had to rewind that scene because I realized I didn't process anything anyone was saying because I was too busy laughing. It was nice to see him back in the uniform, though, regardless of how silly the hair looked. But really, he couldn't have been wearing tanks like Kara? COME ON. But how much did I love Starbuck and Apollo planning a mission together again? GAH. Completely in synch, back in the saddle. Excuse me for a moment.
*FLAIL*
OK, I'm back. Oh man, I am so NERVOUS about where this is all going and at least I'll get to see Lee and Kara firing side by side again, but, I am worried about every single thing else. So while the ostensible reason for the mission is to get Hera, it's really just leading to the final showdown with Cavil & Co. At the edge of a black hole. Oh yeah, this is gonna end badly.
Meeep.
I can haz icons of pretty young Lee now? Too bad I'm not going to be home much at all this weekend. Dammit. I hate it when life interferes with icon-making. ;)
Oh man, I'm spent. Time for bed. I get to see the nephew tomorrow, yay. Oh, and Happy Birthday
k2daisy! Hope it was a good one.
