weird kitty question

dianora2So...this morning my kitty has a bald spot above her eye. And I'm wondering if I did it. Because I had just been petting her for a while in bed (our normal good morning mutual affection routine), and I was really rubbing the area between her eyes and ears, you know? And then I lay back down for a while and when I got up again I noticed the bald spot. All of the hair between her eyes and ears is quite thin, thinner than it used to be, and now there's just a small bald spot too.
Can this be caused just from a combination of me petting her there all the time, and her rubbing her face against stuff all the time, and grooming, and scratching her ear, etc? Plus old age? A Google search is yielding ringworm as a possible culprit but that doesn't seem right to me. It's only this area above her eyes that is affected and she seems perfectly fine otherwise.
