v icons

What better way to celebrate Independence Day than with icons celebrating our independence from human-eating alien overlords? I ask you.

Because I do things to excess, I bring you 65 icons from "V" and "V: The Final Battle." Disclaimer: the caps are poor quality, and dark, so I didn't do anything fancy with them. Also, the SCI FI logo was in the corner of the screen for all of them, so there were a lot of shots I couldn't make work because of it. None of that is meant to seem ungrateful to [livejournal.com profile] goodieuk, who is AWESOME for making these at all, and even more awesome for re-uploading them just for me when I found out they'd expired. So, big thanks to him. The icons also show my biases, which means lots of Mike and Julie. Hee.

Happy Independence Day! I was going to post the Declaration of Independence, but [livejournal.com profile] suricattus beat me to it, so rather than do work myself I shall just link to hers. I read it in its entirety yesterday for the first time since, I don't know, high school, I guess, and I have to say, reading it when you're older, and in our current times, is a punch in the gut. I highly recommend reading it and remembering what we're supposed to be fighting for.

Anyway. Went over to [livejournal.com profile] oeilade's for a little while where we watched Pirates of the Caribbean in preparation for PotC2, and then watched the pilot for The Greatest American Hero, because really, what is more patriotic than that? Now, I was a HUGE fan of that show. Huge. And, well, boy. That show is really stupid. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's one of those things (like Electra-Woman) that makes you wonder what you were thinking. When the show was on, by the way, I had a crush on Robert Culp. I suspect I was the only 9-year old in America to have a crush on Robert Culp. And I gotta say, watching it today? He's still kind of hot. [livejournal.com profile] oeilade and I figured out it's because he's the Han Solo of the joint. Mmmm, cocky. Also, watching it in my current age makes me think that Robert Culp and Connie Selleca should have been the real couple, because they had all the chemistry. Also, Michael Pare was really beautiful when he was young. Whatever happened to him? As [livejournal.com profile] oeilade pointed out, he disappeared just like Eddie in Eddie and the Cruisers.

Look what I discovered: [livejournal.com profile] the_visitors. There really is something for everyone on LJ! Also, in searching for "V" as an interest, I came across [livejournal.com profile] mta. Ha. I may have to friend it.

Speaking of friending, I am loving [livejournal.com profile] henryjenkins. His latest post was about voting practices on Big Brother, so BB fans should check it out.

GH today was LOVE. The Scorpios are LOVE. I covet a screen cap of the group hug. COVET. Oh, Finola, please don't leave me. I know you're going to at the end of the summer, but what if I beg?

I'm digging the latest spoilers for Studio 60. Especially since it's dawning on me that Danny is, in many ways, the Leo role. With addiction and everything. Love it.

A negative review of Superman Returns that touches on a lot of the problems I had with it. Just to prove I'm not the ONLY one. ;)

In case anyone on my f-list hasn't seen the news about the new companion on Doctor Who, here you go. I still suspect I will leave when Billie does.

Hope everyone had/has a safe and happy 4th!
