Tonight I went with [livejournal.com profile] leftofcenternyc, [livejournal.com profile] sternel, and the ex-boy to see Dule Hill in Dutchman Off-Broadway. It's essentially a two-person play, and the theater was small and we had third row seats. Dule was....right there. Maybe twenty feet away. And at the end of the show he gets carried out of the theater so for a moment he was even closer, heh. The play, by Amiri Baraka, was an expression of racial rage that I am sure was extremely powerful and shocking in the 1960s when it was written, but feels a bit dated, now. But there's a good 15 minutes of nothing but Dule screaming and pacing and being a fountain of pure rage, and it was extremely cool to see him let loose like that. Certainly the kind of performance I've never seen from him before. And, um, he looked really good. Hee. Anyway, very glad I got to see it.

Came home and watched Gilmore Girls, which I thought was fairly good tonight. I'm so glad that after wanting to punch Luke in the face for most of last season I am back to loving him again. Now I just want to punch Christopher in the face instead, which is preferable for me. ;) Lorelai's letter almost made me cry. Also, I love how the principal from 90210 is in every show on the planet, and I always think of her as the principal from 90210. I can just see her in my mind's eye, chewing out Steve Sanders.

[livejournal.com profile] intopolitics did an all-Bradley version of the ABC meme, and if you haven't seen it yet, you should, right here.

I am so behind on responding to comments, for which I apologize. Hopefully tomorrow. And there are far too many people on my f-list who are sick or slowly recovering from being sick. Feel better, people.
So the most exciting thing about reupping my LJ subscription was getting more userpics. But I'm up to 113, now, and isn't that the limit? I can't remember. ETA: According to [livejournal.com profile] adventurepants, it's 132, and I have no reason to doubt her. Yay.

That was quite the sucker punch on American Idol tonight, wasn't it? Just when you think this show has bottomed out it pulls something like that on you. *sniffle* AI is not supposed to make me cry, yo. At least it was counteracted by my cracking up at Simon being so deliciously delighted over the "Sing like the Stars" thing. Hee.

I was displeased with tonight's Beauty and the Geek elimination. Although the show is almost over now, so what difference does it make. Quote of the night: "I think if perfume has been tested on animals, it's okay to use on animals." So many things wrong with that statement I don't even know where to start.

How weird is it that two shows this week had dog house building challenges??? I Love New York was not as quotable this week -- I only wrote down four! The winner: "Boston wants a sex room and a weed room. The dog don't hit no blunts, man, it's a damn pooch. What's a damn pooch look like sittin' back blowin' breezies?" The rest, and a couple comments. )

I'm getting more than a little tired of General Hospital being some kind of fertility cult. The whole "OMG we could NEVER consider a SURROGATE" and "You are carrying PRECIOUS LIFE INSIDE OF YOU" and Sam, I'm sorry that you have no identity of your own and measure your self-worth by your ability to bear a man's child, but come ON. Ugh.

Go Fug Yourself showcased Bob Saget with the Olsen twins, and the funny thing is that for a minute I was wondering, what is Bob Saget doing with the Olsen twins?? Duh.

I am very very sad about Molly Ivins. She will be missed. :( Here is the very personal Texas Observer obituary. Rest in peace, Molly.
