Went tonight with [livejournal.com profile] bexatious, [livejournal.com profile] leftofcenternyc and [livejournal.com profile] intopolitics to see a taping of The Colbert Report. Bex and Lz had gotten there super early and as a result were #1 and #2 on line, so we got front row seats right in front of Stephen's desk. It was pretty cool, even if R. and I did have our view blocked a couple times by the stage manager. It added to the showbizziness of it all. It was a funny episode and as they were premiering a new episode of Tek Jansen, it was a kick to see how delighted Colbert was by it. And when he came out before the show and did the hand slappings, he just brushed my fingertips. He blows a ram's horn during the show which he said smelled disgusting, and then after the show he blew it again for the studio audience and offered it to us to smell it. We all declined except Bex, who got her nose right in there. I think she got eye contact with Stephen out of it, so it's all good.

And then, when we were leaving, everyone in the audience got a free box of new Chocolate Chex! It's a little embarrassing how excited I was by that. Free cereal, woo hoo!

Oh, and on my way to the studio I passed Seth Meyers on the street. He's pretty hot.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the season finale of Rescue Me, at least until the final montage. Tommy and his dad seriously got to me. I don't know -- what did you guys think?

One of my Overheards went up today, yay.

[livejournal.com profile] em_meredith sent me this great link, recasting Star Wars with BSG characters. Her selection of Lee as Leia is fucking inspired.

Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams broke up? How did I not know that? That's too bad, they were such a cute couple, not to mention they live(d) in Brooklyn.

Bobby Flay's restaurant Bolo might close, which is a shame. That's a great restaurant, I've been there a couple times.

This news, however, truly makes me want to cry: Two of the soldiers who wrote the New York Times Op-Ed about the war were killed in Iraq. Every soldier's death is tragic, but this especially hurts my heart. Dammit.

Also, a chunk of ice the size of Florida melted in the Arctic, much faster than scientists had thought. We are so screwed.

I have a scary doctor's appointment first thing in the morning for more scary health stuff, so if you could spare me some good thoughts I would truly appreciate it. I hate this.

Happy Belated Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ascian3! I'm glad you had a good day.

And Happy New Year to those celebrating!
