Whew, it's past midnight, so my birthday is officially over! Except I'm still 35. DAMMIT. Anyhoo, many, many thanks for all the birthday wishes. I had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] oeilade at one of my favorite Italian restaurants and then dessert at Max Brenner, where I got this RIDONKULOUS dessert of cake and ice cream and whipped cream and bananas and sprinkles and toffee cream and chocolate sauce and...it was frickin' huge, OMG. [livejournal.com profile] oeilade took a picture, if she sends it to me, I will have to upload. And the waitress saw me opening presents and took it upon herself to bring over a piece of chocolate with a candle and do the whole singing thing. Oy.

I just wanted to do something simple tonight (group dinner is Friday) because I was excited to get home and watch the premiere of Prison Break.

Ah, Wentworth. I have missed your pretty face. And I have missed the PB crackitude as well. Thoughts on the premiere. )

As if that wasn't enough, Bradley Whitford was on Living With Ed! He came over to Ed Begley Jr.'s house to check out the green living. He was so weird and adorable, barking at their dog and being uncomfortable at their marital squabbles and buying Ed a chair. And when they looked at the "engine" of the electric truck, Brad lifted the hood and his shirt rode up a little bit. That was my favorite part. He also wore his sunglasses on his forehead Danny Tripp-style, which was a bit disorienting. Sigh. Love that man.

And The Hills was catty-tastic. Meow. Also, it's disturbing when the most mature person in an episode is arguably Jason. Also also, Elodie was awesome tonight. BURN.

Speaking of The Hills, Lauren's fashion line is now live. Simple, but pretty, and quite reasonably priced, all things considered.

I TiVoed K-Ville but didn't have time to watch it tonight. I have to assume it's doomed, but since they're actually filming in New Orleans I want to check it out.

Happy Birthday (a few minutes late now) [livejournal.com profile] kirbyfest! You have a good birth date. :D
Man, was I cracking up at Beauty and the Geek tonight. One of the guys is a LARPer (every time they show his name it says "LARPER (Live Action Role Player)" and another is a filker. Premiere )

I watched K-Ville tonight, and I'm undecided on it. I thought some of the NO stuff was too heavy-handed (and for me to be saying that, that's saying something), and the show was at its most interesting when it was just dealing with the different facets of the main characters, and when all the cops were interacting, etc. They need to have a little more faith in their actual storytelling abilities and let NO just be the backdrop -- still folding in the obvious, of course, but letting it BE the setting, rather than hitting us over the head with it. I'll probably watch next week to see if they manage to do that.

GH news: they signed "Leyla" to a contract. I really wish she were a better actress. And Amelia is leaving to be on 24. Good for her. Scenes with Kiefer instead of "Mo?" Easy decision there.

BSG and especially Lee fans must, must, must go read The Future Civilian Leader Lee Adama Rap Song that [livejournal.com profile] dionusia wrote me as a birthday present. It is AWESOME. And I'm not sure I ever truly made the connection between my love for Lee and my progressive politics until that moment, but it makes sense.

There was an interesting article in the NYT today about a community of Liberian refugees living on Staten Island, and one of the men said something poetic and wise. "People are saying to move forward," he said. "But when you sweep everything under the rug, the rug will be uneven." True, that.
