I'm watching Search for a Supermodel or whatever it's called, and I'm kinda bored. Anyone else? Not sure the Tyson eye candy is enough.

Edmund Hillary died! I am very sad about this. I read his book View from the Summit last year and recently acquired his other book High Adventure through the generosity of [livejournal.com profile] bbennett but haven't read it yet. (I've also been watching his son Peter on After the Climb.) I'm a bit of an Everest buff so he was a hero of mine. In addition to being one of the first two people to climb Everest (as far as we know) he dedicated most of his life to bettering the lives of Sherpas in Nepal. He was truly a great man.

NYC had its own case of Weekend at Bernie's! Crazy.

I'm mostly just posting to share with you something that sums up everything that's wrong with this country. The link to the full story is here, but to underscore how my rage has nothing to do with any particular candidate, I am removing said candidate's name from this quote:

"Ms. Long said that she likes [candidate] for...experience and attention to policy, but she would make her decision based on her personal sense of the candidates. 'If we've survived the past eight years based on policy, we can survive a little more poor policy,' she said."

Um.....WHAT? What the hell are you talking about, you stupid, stupid woman? OH. MY. GOD. *breaks things* "We survived having a president who made shitty policy decisions, so what's another one, so long as I think the president is likable?" Ms. Long, you are everything that is wrong with America. Congratulations.

Oh, wait, this one is good too: FBI Wiretaps Dropped Due to Unpaid Bills.

And one last link of horror and amusement: [livejournal.com profile] johnpicacio shared this with me today, it's a commercial for a local San Antonio theater production of Camelot....starring Lou Diamond Phillips. Go. Watch. Point and laugh.

I would kind of like to have Harry & David Dark Chocolate Moose Munch in my house at all times, but that would probably be a mistake. Right? Right?
