Hey all. Had a mostly good weekend; kicked off when I got promoted on Friday, so, you know, that was nice. ;) Small raise as well. Yay. Then I had a lovely dinner at Odeon with [livejournal.com profile] oeilade and [livejournal.com profile] girlunravelled (f.k.a. leftofcenternyc -- still getting used to that). Yesterday I went to a party thrown by [livejournal.com profile] melissa_tlc (I know her IRL, I haven't suddenly joined Harry Potter fandom, heh) and it was an enjoyable, if slightly surreal time. (Harry Potter fans + middle-aged Staten Islanders = one interesting crowd.) But she rented out a loft apartment and had a DJ and I brought [livejournal.com profile] oeilade and [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63 with me and it was a fun Saturday night. Then [livejournal.com profile] oeilade stayed over and we did brunch and watched the premiere of Scott Baio is 46 & Pregnant, which was awesome. (Who watches this besides me? [livejournal.com profile] intopolitics? [livejournal.com profile] purple_elefants? Someone come talk to me.)

Also awesome of course was Rock of Love. The big shocker? Contestant Megan is Megan, winner of season three of Beauty and the Geek. WTF???? I am now wondering if this will come out in the course of the show and Bret will be all hurt and suspicious. I can see it now. Anyway, I guess I'm rooting for her because she was really nice on BatG, although if she's on this show I guess she didn't undergo that much of a transformation after all, ha. My other favorite part was the other girls looking down on the one woman for being "so old," i.e. 45, which is, you know, BRET'S AGE. Good lord.

Also watched Sarah Connor Chronicles and enjoyed it very much. I have a kink for pre-apocalypse as well as post-apocalypse, so this was up my alley. I hope the level of momentum continues. We'll see.

Fake Golden Globes? Not even worth mentioning.

Oh, and I keep forgetting to pimp How to Look Good Naked with Carson Kressley. Seriously, this show is adorable. And, I hate to say it, but it does a lot of things right that Tim Gunn's Guide to Style doesn't. It's also only 30 minutes long, so it's just a nice bite-size bit of fun and female empowerment. And Carson is hilarious. I highly recommend it.

And Psych was awesome too! Especially the Short Circuit reference. So happy this show is back.

Not so awesome? Tonight was my cat's last dose of antibiotic, and I don't think she's better. Well, she's better than she was, but she's not better. She's still having breathing issues which are making her drink more than normal, etc. So I think I'm going to have to take her back to get her tested again and if she's still positive, we'll have to try another antibiotic or something. DAMMIT. I am so fucking sick of this I can't even tell you.

Thought-provoking editorial on sex and the teenage girl, using Juno as a jumping-off point.

Jim Butcher wrote a Thomas novelette that is illustrated by Mike Mignola, and that is pretty much the coolest thing I can ever imagine. Must get my hands on a copy.

Prison Break comes back tomorrow night, and I wish I were more excited about that. I am however hella excited that American Idol returns this week as well, even if I'm not a big fan of the audition episodes. I have so much TV to watch you guys, I barely even know there's a writers' strike on. It's crazy.

It's supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow, but of course right now it's raining instead. I hope that holds, because otherwise I just keep dwelling on the irony that I would have snow boots in my possession if the fuckheads at JC Penney hadn't sent me the wrong size. Because, of course, the new ones haven't arrived yet. Sigh.
