insert clever subject line here
Jan. 21st, 2008 11:44 pmMeh, I'm here. Spent most of the weekend worrying about the cat. I've reached a point with my vet where I either do a full ultrasound or go to another vet. I'd probably go for a second opinion before doing the ultrasound, but now part of me is thinking that maybe I'm overreacting and the breathing issues are just because she's so fat and do I want to keep putting her through stuff unnecessarily. Aaaargh. It's so hard to know what to do. For me, anyway. I kind of just want to curl up in a ball and hope it all goes away at this point.
I was feeling crazy enough about it all yesterday that I called
girlunravelled and begged her to let me come over so I could get out of my house for a while. She obliged and I brought an assortment of DVDs with me. I want it shown for the record that she is the one who picked Battlestar Galactica. ...and then we wound up watching the entire miniseries in one sitting. I think she's hooked! *insert evil laugh here*
And thank goodness for television, really. I'm not sure what I would have done this weekend without TAR, Psych, Rock of Love, Scott Baio, Celebrity Rehab, and My Fair Brady. Sadly I'm not sure I can add Prison Break to that list tonight, although Sarah Connor Chronicles does get an honorable mention.
( TAR )
Rock of Love, I will just share my favorite quote: "I'm looking for a woman I can connect with spiritually. And any woman who can lick chocolate off her own breasts? That's a spiritual connection you can't deny."
My Fair Brady: *explodes of squee* I am so happy this show is back in my life. So interesting that now he's the one who wants kids instead of her. I love it.
Back to BSG for a moment --
dionusia has once again done me the honor of writing me a Lee Adama rap parody that is of the very finest crack. You gotta fight! For your right! To eeeeeeee-mo! ZOMG it is HILARIOUS. Genius. Get thee over there and laugh. (Spoilers through end of season three, natch.)
More X-Files 2 goodies -- very fuzzy footage and screencaps of filming can be found here. Thanks to
kelbelle for the heads-up.
Speaking of nostalgia -- remember Circus of the Stars? They're remaking it. Only they're calling it Celebrity Circus, as if that somehow makes it different.
Article on Barack Obama's very own Toby Ziegler, who is....26. God I feel old.
This is awesome: in order to stave off closure, the Creation Museum is auctioning off a mastodon skull. And: Heritage Auction Galleries says the skull is estimated to be 40,000 years old. Um. Hee.
Very scary article courtesy of
ozlelila: Potential use of a credit score by health care providers, to assess a patient's ability to pay their bills. Un. Fucking. Believable. Let's hope this never makes it past the development stage.
NYT editorial on overfishing. This is a topic that also scares the hell out of me. Did you know if we keep going the way we're going, we're going to be, quite simply, out of fish? Just....period? In the not too distant future? And it's fixable, but of course no one can be bothered to do it? Sigh.
mabfan mentioned today the Urban Paramedic blog, which I found very interesting reading. I especially liked (although I'm not sure that's the right word) this entry about poor folk using the ambulance and ER as routine medical care because it's the only way they can get it for free. A great snapshot of how broken our system is, and an interesting blog to boot.
flamingcarrot, you should definitely check it out.
Apparently someone at Lucasfilm uncovered a promotional film made in 1979 touting all the licensees for Star Wars and all the products they made. It's quite the trip down memory lane. I think the pajamas made me giggle the most. Part one is here and part two is here.
Off I go. I'm even worse about responding and keeping up with people than usual thanks to my cat emo, so please forgive me.
