Thanks to a tip from
shellysmk I watched
Stonehenge Decoded tonight. Pretty fascinating stuff and some incredible new archaeological discoveries, I recommend it if you're into the whole Stonehenge thing. And while I was watching (it was last night's broadcast), they ran a commercial for another special,
Undercover Titanic, about how it turns out Robert Ballard's expedition in 1985 was really a secret Cold War mission to find a Russian sub, and the
Titanic was really just a cover story, but they, you know, found it anyway. So cool! So I recorded that tonight. And ooh, I just discovered another one called
Carpathia: In Titanic's Shadow! Maybe I can just watch National Geographic specials all summer.
Especially since
Rescue Me is not returning until April 2009. The hell? They are running 10 "minisodes" online this summer, but that is not the same thing! I am disgruntled.
(On the other hand, so many shows coming in July!
Burn Notice!
Psych!
Mad Men!
I Love Money!
Project Runway! 'Twill be an embarrassment of riches.)
There's a new Street Fighter game coming out and the
non-stop flagging of it over at Wired is reviving my Street Fighter love and making me seriously consider buying it. I was a pretty big fan of that game back in the day, not that I was all that great at it.
suehypno alerted me to this appalling story:
Chinese selling goldfish in trinkets. EEEEK.
Jeff Jensen at EW's
Lost finale recap is pretty great. I especially like the following two tidbits he caught:
( Cut for spoilers. )Anyone who watches ANTM, you MUST go to the
NYT main video page and click on "Lynn Hirschberg Talks to Tyra Banks." It is (unintentionally) HILARIOUS. Tyra expounds at length about all the different smiles (over 200!) and demonstrates for the camera. Narcissistic genius. If you've ever seen an ep of ANTM you will laugh pretty hard.
The California Tax Board has to, by law, publicly post the biggest tax delinquents, and
near the top of the list is OJ Simpson. That amused me in a grim fashion.
How do you know the economy is bad?
People are stealing waste grease from restaurants. Glenn Greenwald speaks for me on what should be taken away from the Scott McClellan brouhaha.
I'm sad about Bo Diddley. :(
I'm glad the Indy icons seem to be a hit, though. Yay. :)
