Finally! Well, I didn't take notes at Chuck and Fringe, so it will mostly be pictures. And then at the end I have a few random shots from the exhibit hall floor.

On to the show. )
Finally saw the XF movie last night with [livejournal.com profile] md1016 and [livejournal.com profile] eloiseinparis, and the three of us had a wonderful time. It had been five years since the three of us were all together, so it was like old times. Great dinner beforehand, great seats at the movie theater, great dessert and discussion afterward.

If only the movie itself had been half as great.

Yeah, I'm afraid I didn't like it very much. Sorry. It could be because getting thrown a bone just doesn't work for me anymore; I'm too over it all. Of course, I'm sure the chip the size of Rhode Island on my shoulder didn't help any. ;) I didn't HATE it, but, it was deeply flawed and I'm not sure the good stuff was enough to outweigh the bad, for me. Which isn't to say there wasn't some good stuff. :)

Further thoughts -- don't read if you're looking for nothing but rainbows... )

All that said I do plan on seeing it again this week with some other people. And after we got home last night [livejournal.com profile] md1016 and I watched all our old fanvids (which still hold up BTW) and ironically, THAT got me much more excited/nostalgic/wistful about Mulder and Scully again than the new movie did. So maybe I am going to be in a better frame of mind for my second viewing. I think I will be. And it will be nice to see the shippy stuff again.

other stuff

My TiVo went wacky tonight and stopped automatically keeping the previous half-hour in its memory. So I turned on I Love Money 15 minutes in and couldn't rewind! WTF? I rebooted and then it was okay, but that was strange. And now I have to record a later showing instead. :P

I love Mad Men but never feel like I have anything substantive to say about it. Let's just say I enjoyed the Peggy stuff, I was in Don's corner tonight, and Pete may be a weasel, but sometimes he can be a hardcore weasel. Oh, and Joan is a delightful bitch.

Thursday night [livejournal.com profile] divanoir and I went to see the one-time-only two-hour edit theater showing of Long Way Down. Really enjoyed it a lot, and it made me eager to see the rest of it. Interestingly, there were a LOT of guys at the theater -- I'm assuming it was the lure of the motorcycles. One guy was even wearing a Ducati t-shirt. But there was definitely a contingent of obvious Ewan fangirls there as well. :D Anyway, it was nice to see Ewan on the big screen in something GOOD, ahem.

I am still very sad about Jamie canceling Dragon Con, but am somewhat mollified by the fact that they have added Michael Hogan instead. If I yell out "TIGHT!" in the middle of a panel it will be all [livejournal.com profile] alissabobissa's fault. Seriously, he was the only person who could make me feel any better at all about losing Jamie, so that's something, at least.

Speaking of BSG, I love these icons.

Tim Gunn was not paid for his first season on Runway. A travesty!

US Airways to no longer offer free WATER. WATER! Holy crap.

Nice Doctor Who Season 4 tribute vid.

Gossip Girl fans, have you seen these Team Blair/Serena/Chuck/Nate t-shirts? Awesome.

I like this Ten Things We Love About The X-Files article because it credits us for "shipper" AND uses the acronym CITC. Clearly the writer is One of Us.

I also really love this snippet from the DD/GA Dark Horizons interview:

Anderson: There was a scene in the pilot where we're in this pouring forest rain that's freezing and I'm screeching at him about one thing or another -
Duchovny: 'You mean to say thirty miles?! Came here?!'
Anderson: Are you making fun of me?
Duchovny: No. I just remember it.
Hee!

Video game pitch meeting from 1979. (Video humor.)

How did I not know Amber Tamblyn, Zachary Levi, and Tricia Helfer were in a crappy movie together? Talk about fandom collisions.

Only four more work days and one icky doctor's appointment to get through before vacation! Yay. It's sad that my life has reached a point where only one doctor's appointment in a week seems like a light schedule. Sigh.
