home again, but not much jiggety jigging

Home from OBX. Managed to have a very nice time at the beach despite pet drama back home (for those who don't know, basically my cat had to be hospitalized while I was away). She is now home and doing a little bit better, although when I got home and saw her I called girlunravelled and said "THIS is better??" but she assured me that it was. My poor baby. It *appears* that she had a very rare, unfortunate reaction to a vaccine that the vet browbeat me into giving her a few weeks ago. Yeah, never doing that again. So upset and angry over the whole thing I can't even tell you. She's obviously uncomfortable and my heart is breaking for her, but supposedly she is on an upswing so we'll see how it goes.

Aside from that, and despite the fact that it was a smaller group than usual this year, I really did have a great time in the Outer Banks with bbennett, harpinred, intopolitics, and chanel19 & flamingcarrot. A great group of people and wonderful friends who were understanding of my anxiety through the week. Still managed to get in lots of pool time and beach time and hot tub time and TV time. :) We totally lucked out with the weather -- with the exception of a couple of ten-minute sprinkles, all the rain we got was at night so didn't affect our beach-going. Sunny and hot the rest of the time. Awesome. :)

Now I'm back for four days and then it's off to Dragon Con. This already seemed a bit overwhelming when I *didn't* have a sick cat. :P Thank god for girlunravelled who is the greatest cat caretaker ever. (And many thanks to bexatious this week as well for help above and beyond the call of duty.) Both Miss Parker and I are grateful.

OK, on to the week. Way behind on LJ, obvs, will try to catch up a bit. And work is going to be, um, interesting this week. Hoo boy. Welcome back to me. :P
