Kitty update: her bloodwork came back normal. That's good, right? I think, I hope? Now I need to decide whether to drag her in for x-rays. She does seem to be acting a bit more like herself tonight than she has since this started, which I'm hoping is a good sign. I don't know. I guess I'll give it a couple of days and see how things go. We both need a couple days' break, that's for sure. Aaaargh, so frustrating.
Law & Order: CI was filming in my neighborhood today. Didn't see any celebs, but I did walk past Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe's trailers. At least, I think I did -- they were labeled GOREN and EAMES and I assume that's who they are. *g*
The Studio 60 ratings make me want to cry, but I'm not entirely surprised, either.Weren't they supposed to be folding DVR ratings in with the Nielsens? That never happened, eh? Sigh. I love that everyone knows the Nielsens are a corrupt and ineffectual system (my brother's friend used to work for them and oh, did he concur) and yet that's still what everyone blithely goes by. You know, like the New York Times bestseller list. ;P
Speaking of S60, I can't believe I forgot to mention Lucy Davis in my post last night. LUCY DAVIS ON STUDIO 60. That is so awesome I can't even stand it. I hope she's going to be recurring, assuming episodes continue to air. :(
Lane is pregnant? Oh, I do not like that one bit, I most certainly do not. Blech. Geez, Sookie, Liz, now Lane -- Stars Hollow is a freaking baby factory. I confess I thought the thing with "Kirk's" was HILARIOUS. I really did. I was laughing more than was seemly. I also loved the Asian tour (Hello Kitty shrine!) and really loved how Rory was the voice of the audience and called Lorelai out on her shit. I've liked Rory more in these past couple of episodes than I have in the past couple of seasons. And I kind of loved the frozen food section scene. They're both so full of shit. Sniffle. Also, Luke in a t-shirt? Um, yes please.
This week on Jeopardy is little kid week and I can't even watch it. It freaks me out.
I don't have much to say about the news because, you know, fish in a barrel. I love how they're turning on each other, in particular. I also love how certain factions are trying to make this into a gay thing. Um, this isn't a gay thing, it's a PROTECTING A SEXUAL PREDATOR thing. Asswipes.
(Meanwhile, 17 soldiers have died in Iraq so far this week.)
So there's this movie in production called The Tourist, starring Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman, and Michelle Williams, and it's an erotic adventure that takes place partially in Manhattan sex clubs, and it is apparently SO sexually explicit that Fox has decided not to distribute it domestically. Which I don't understand, because to me it sounds like THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE.
OK, I'm going to try to go to bed early tonight since I'm utterly exhausted.

Date: 2006-10-04 03:33 am (UTC)Yesterday one of the questions was about philately. I was very Josh like about it, while giggling of course. And then I remembered it was kiddie week and it all became awkward. None of them got it right.

Date: 2006-10-04 03:34 am (UTC)I can't even look at the ratings for S60, because I'm scared of what I'll see. I guess your post confirms that.
A friend and I were just IMing each other about how weird it is that Lorelai and Luke make a much more interesting couple now that they're not a couple. The frozen food section scene had more emotion than *any* L/L faux-snogging scene of last season. And yes, GO RORY. Ahem. I'm done shouting.
Finally, I saw this jaw-dropping interview on one of the cable networks yesterday with a representative of some 'family values' group insisting that the failure of anyone reprimanding Foley sooner lay on the Democrats' shoulders because liberal groups have made it impossible for anyone to criticize homosexuals. A big wtf at that.

Yes, that is exactly the kind of bullshit I am talking about. Who do these people think they're kidding??? Talk about desperate attempts to shift the blame.

Date: 2006-10-04 03:35 am (UTC)The Studio 60 ratings -- sigh. They really suck. :( Thirteen episode committment. *rocks back and forth*

Date: 2006-10-04 03:37 am (UTC)It's going to be a Joey type situation where it actually would cost them more money NOT to air the show.

Date: 2006-10-04 03:45 am (UTC)Yeah. I have the feeling that if things don't pick up by January, which is when Sorkin pops off to Morocco, we're going to end up with a 13 episode box set. Which is kind of what I thought was going to happen all along, but I want to be wrong.

Date: 2006-10-04 03:38 am (UTC)GG does not screen here until 10pm which is annoying but I laughed my head off with Kirks, and even though the sushi thing was gross it also elicited a snigger. Plus, I do so love TJ. The pregnancy thing was so obvious from the start but perhaps it's their plot device for getting Mrs Kim back into the picture.

Glad she seems to be feeling better.

Date: 2006-10-04 04:00 am (UTC)Actually, it did. If you read any of the ratings stories from the networks, the ratings are "live plus same day", which incorporates the DVR/TiVo crowd.
I love that everyone knows the Nielsens are a corrupt and ineffectual system (my brother's friend used to work for them and oh, did he concur) and yet that's still what everyone blithely goes by.
Believe me, everyone would like a system to work but no one can come up with a better one and companies have spent multi-millions to create a competitor and nothing ever took.

Oh, I know. But it's still frustrating.

Date: 2006-10-04 01:50 pm (UTC)But the only way you'll have the ratings the next morning is to use same day as a measure. There is also a "live plus seven day" rating but that's not available for two weeks. Again, terrible system but the only system we have.

Date: 2006-10-04 02:38 pm (UTC)So does TiVo know if I'm watching a show live? Like, I record S60 and watch it live. When it's over, should I then watch the recording on TiVo to generate a rating? It's so confusing.

Date: 2006-10-04 05:22 pm (UTC)For the ratings, it doesn't matter what TiVo knows, it matters what the Nielsen meter in the Nielsen households knows but rewatching something on teh night it is broadcast doesn't add anything to the ratings.

Date: 2006-10-04 06:37 am (UTC)I have a question for you about GH, since I don't keep up on the behind the scenes stuff anymore. Maybe you don't either. Anyway, do you know if Laura is waking up or what?
I didn't look at the ratings.. Now I'm so depressed. I wonder if it's not really a good show and I'm just blinded by the Brad/Matt/TimB/Sorkin/Shlamme love (not necessarily in that order).

Date: 2006-10-06 03:14 am (UTC)Laura is waking up but only for a few weeks. It's all part of a Luke & Laura anniversary celebration.

Date: 2006-10-06 05:32 am (UTC)I had a feeling she was only waking up temporarily, but do you know if she is going to die at the end of the few weeks or just go back to being catatonic.

Date: 2006-10-04 01:25 pm (UTC)Y'know, I'm sure I'm wrong about this, but it seems like there are fewer films in which Ewan *doesn't* show his penis than there are films in which he does. Am I wrong about this?

Date: 2006-10-06 03:17 am (UTC)Apparently TiVo is folded in but only if you then watch it the same night, which doesn't make much sense to me.
