our long national nightmare is over

I had a feeling it could happen tonight, and I'm so glad it did. Simon could hardly contain himself, ha. You know, for anyone who's actually watched this show for more than one or two seasons, there was never any concern that he would win. It always corrects itself eventually. It's just always a shame when more talented people have to leave first as a result. Anyway, I felt bad for the kid, he was obviously crying pretty hard at first from the way LaKisha was hugging him and he wouldn't let her go (she was such a mom there, awwww). I mean, he's 17, and has gone through a LOT of shit that was not of his own making. So, good for him, really. He's obviously a sweet kid and handled this better than most would have. But, I am glad he's gone. *g*
(Also, Fergie? WTF?)
Brittany is my favorite actual model, so it pains me when she's a whiny bitch. Sigh. And I hate weeks where there are no actual photographs, just film footage. Bah. Goodbye, Jael, you were entertaining but in looking at all your pictures together like that, you really weren't that great a model. They seem to travel earlier and earlier each season, don't they? Oh, and I don't understand why the judges were falling all over themselves over Natasha's video, which I really didn't think was that great. Whatever.
Okay, Jin telling the ghost story in Korean: fucking funniest thing I've ever seen. HILARIOUS. And the way Hurley was riveted...just genius. OMG, so funny.
How Desmond didn't figure out it wasn't Penny when he saw that the copy of Catch-22 wasn't in English, I have no idea. But, she was clearly sent by Penny, so that's pretty damn cool regardless. I thought the Desmond backstory was kind of blah, although I did obviously like seeing how Desmond and Penny met, and did you notice that Fionnula Flanagan was in the photograph on the monk's desk? Heeee!
The sound effect of the helicopter faltering and falling was very cool.
The stuff with Kate and Jack and Sawyer made me laugh and laugh (and then point and laugh some more), but they're starting to run the risk of overdoing it, so I'm of two minds on the whole thing. I did love how Kate was so.... obvious. And the Jack/Sawyer ping-pong game was great. Man, I want to play ping-pong on the beach. That would be awesome. It's so weird to see Jack and Sawyer basically interacting as friends, though. Weird in a good way, but still weird.
Still haven't watched Gilmore Girls yet. Is Supernatural new tomorrow? That will pretty much determine whether I get to GG tomorrow night or not. I did watch Desperate Housewives and don't have anything to really say about it except that Carlos/Edie makes my eyes bleed.
I have so much to say about today's events that I have nothing to say at all. The abortion ruling makes me physically ill (I've said it before and I'll say it again: if anyone reading this ever needs to travel to a city like NYC to get an abortion because you're having trouble getting one where you live, you can sleep in my bed while I crash on the couch. No questions asked.), and at least 170 people, mostly civilians, died in Iraq today. Oh, wait, no one cares.
And on that cheerful note, Happy (slightly belated) Birthday to
kradical! Hee. Sorry I didn't realize it was your birthday when I saw you earlier today. Ooops. :)

Date: 2007-04-19 04:40 am (UTC)Ditto! I'm relieved Brittany didn't get the boot; I would have felt really bad for her if she'd gotten the boot for something entirely not her fault.

Date: 2007-04-19 04:58 am (UTC)Agreed. Um, he hasn't yet been officially booted here on the west coast yet, but I pretty much figured it out, heh.
I have this recurring nightmare where Fergie just shows up in random places and tortures me with her horrific singing/face. Was that real?
I can't believe that fucking abortion ruling. ugh. And I read about the 170 people who died in Iraq today, and I thought the same thing. sigh.

Date: 2007-04-20 03:13 am (UTC)Ha ha ha ha ha. I'm afraid it was real, although apparently it was also pre-recorded, not live. SCARED, FERGIE? Or, as I like to continue to call her, Stacy Ferguson (http://www.batnet.com/emgordon/blog/kidsinc/keeponstacy.jpg).

Jin's ghost story? Best part of the episode right there.

Date: 2007-04-20 12:34 am (UTC)There's also the National Network of Abortion Funds that lists similar groups as well as groups that offer funding to pay for abortions.
None of which will help if what you need is the procedure now banned, of course.

All too true. Sigh.
