this week actually went quickly

Here's a decent quality link to the Stayin' Alive video from American Idol last night. Seriously, just go watch. I'm not sure you've lived until you've seen Hugh Laurie and Helen Mirren lip-synching to "Stayin' Alive." Too much fun. And Gillian for a split-second! Whee.

"Crabman, listen to me! This is The Crab Shack. That's your wife. Tonight you're going to go home and play Atari. It's okay." Heeeeee. I love Darnell so much. And boy, did they do a great job of making me wonder how teachers manage to make it through the day sometimes. The bit about the kid thinking he was going to be a rock star because he's good at Guitar Hero was genius. I may have to buy the TV Guide for next week's Scratch and Sniff!



Boy, Mookie and Alex really are a couple of tools, aren't they? I loved that they thought they were going to stir up so much shit and then....they totally didn't. I loved how everyone was so much more outraged over Alex and Mookie going through Yau Man's stuff than actually caring that he had the idol. I mean, they have to have figured that either Yau or Earl had it anyway, so I'm sure they weren't shocked by that part. Plus it's always fun when Probst is disgusted at you during tribal council, and that was some prime grade disgust.

Boo popping out something in his knee and then popping it back in? Awesome. Loved Peachy's wince. I thought the voting to tie idea was stupid at first until I remembered that you then have to have a second round of voting before going to a tiebreaker, and then it became kind of brilliant, if unnecessary. And then after all that Alex voted for Mookie! Holy crap. I really wouldn't past him to get some finagling done next week, but I don't know, he seems so untrustworthy it's hard to believe anyone would form an alliance with him at this point. Except maybe Dreamz, because who knows what's running through his head from moment to moment.



It's funny -- I already knew going in, thanks to last week's preview, that this week was going to be about the boys purposely breaking into prison to catch a ghost. So, you know, it's basically the plot of Prison Break. Okay. And as the show starts, I'm thinking, you know what, I bet that tool Shiban was watching Prison Break and was all "I can do this, only better! Just like I did Bad Blood better than Vince!" and hey, wouldn't you know it, guess who wrote the episode??? And the prison was Green RIVER, even. John Shiban, you are a loo-ahoo-ahoo-aser. Also, prison rape jokes = not funny. Oy. Other than that...eh. It was kind of cool to see Hendrickson again and yay, Jeff Kober. Among other things he was in the XF episode "Ice," which was written by Morgan & Wong, who are also much better writers than John Shiban.

Man, I should just not even watch the Shiban eps, shouldn't I. Hee. Seriously, the chip on my shoulder would not still be so freakin' huge if he didn't still freakin' suck. It's his own fault, really.



corellianjedi gave the heads-up that the banner on NBC's Studio 60 site says the show is coming back on May 24 at 10 PM. That's a Thursday. Interesting. Oh well, I'm glad we'll get to see the episodes that are in the can. Yay for Sorkin's play-or-pay contract clause!

So People Magazine released their Most Beautiful People issue and wow, it just gets more irrelevant every year, doesn't it? Okay, not that it was ever actually RELEVANT, but...you know. Yawn. Gee, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie and Jessica Simpson and Halle Berry and George Clooney are on it. I AM SO SURPRISED. (Although Wentworth is on there, so, good for him.)

And they have this gallery of Stars Without Makeup, which cracks me up, as, you know, they're totally wearing makeup. It may just be foundation and in more than one case some eyeliner, but, come on. Favorite quote I saw on the site is from Carrie Underwood: "I had a couple of freckles on my face that I didn't like, so I had them removed." FRECKLES? That's...wow. Kudos, Carrie. Kudos.

Here's the full list. (http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/6562235.html#cutid1) There's actually quite a mix because they have stuff like "Beauties Around the Globe," but few African Americans. And one of them is Isaiah Washington. Errr, I thought People used to at least PRETEND that you were supposed to be also "beautiful on the inside." That's lame, even for them.
