So hot on the heels of the Robotech movie news, which still has my head spinning, [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63 alerts me that they may also be remaking V! This is entirely too much 80s fannish news for my brain to handle. Who, who could be Mike Donovan for the 21st century!? The mind reels. No way they get anyone half as awesome as Faye Grant for the female lead, though, I'll tell you that. :P

This movie What Happens In Vegas, starring Cameron Diaz, Ashton Kutcher, and Rob Corrdry, is filming in my neighborhood. That's pretty big budget for this area! I will keep an eye out when I walk to the subway.

I had Pinkberry for the first time this weekend. I took my first bite and thought, Eeek. Then I took another bite. And then another. And by the end I was sorry I hadn't gotten the larger size. Do they sprinkle crack in it or something? I'm already dreaming about next time. It's so wrong. And a small size is only 125 calories with zero fat. Wibble.

I ordered myself this comforter this weekend. I'm tired of the one I have now since it wasn't the color I had thought it would be (the website led me wrong), plus the color I have now is kind of blah and I wanted something fun to brighten things up. My bedroom is pink (not my choice) so I think it will look cute.

I want this bag a lot. I don't know if I could say I NEED this bag, especially on the heels of ordering that comforter yesterday, but I could definitely use a bag that size, and it's so cute, and I have a 30% off promotion code, and I want it. I'm becoming a LeSportsac whore, it's weird.

I watched the first couple episodes of Mad Men today and enjoyed it, so I'll probably try to watch the rest of the eps I have stored on the TiVo. Weird to see Elisabeth Moss in such a role, good for her.

So I found Jes' My Space page and she's only 23! Holy crap. Now I know why they keep bringing up how young she is. And she has her status listed as "in a relationship," hmmmm. And check out all the modeling photos on Magdalena's page. As for the show tonight, at first I thought it was kind of a shocker, but maybe not? I thought that he was intending on getting rid of Heather, but that Brandi's disclosure changed his mind. But then he had the pass, so I don't know if they did an editing bait and switch on us or what. I would LOVE to know what the intention was. And boy, was Bret pissed! Which makes me think he WAS going to send Heather home. Of course, Brandi is a stripper too, so I'm not sure what the big difference is.

So did Lacey and Jes have sex with Bret? What do you guys think? I'm guessing yes, but it's hard to tell without the Flavor of Love style sound effects, ha ha. Also, Heather, if you couldn't figure out why he chose Jes for the private date after that evening, I don't know what to say to you. But I had to give you props for taking the food back with you. HA.

I am so psyched that "Dick in a Box" won the Creative Emmy. That is made of awesome.

West Wing vid rec! It's to "Walk On," and it's by [livejournal.com profile] viddersweet and you can find it here on YouTube. It's a cast & crew farewell video, and it made me smile and it made me sniffly all at once. I'm amazed at the amount of footage she amassed. Check it out.

News roundup:

Congress passed a bill to give college students a little more help. Somewhere, Sorkin is smiling.

Steven Weber blogs about Fred Thompson. "But Fred Thompson is like Ronald Reagan! He was a Republican! He hated commies! Fred Thompson hates commies, too, I bet! I hate commies! Russians! Hate 'em!" Heeeeee.

Two-thirds of the world's polar bears will be dead by 2050.

The best 100 packaged foods for women.

Pete Doherty gives his cat crack. Errr, okay.

I'm totally in love with this icon I just snagged from [livejournal.com profile] iconseeyou. I miss making icons. :( It's the last thing I have time for these days, though.

We're getting a Pinkberry by the end of the year, supposedly. I'm eager to try it.

This news about Congress is kind of ... okay. I mean, now I stand a reasonable chance of /getting/ a Pell Grant next year. And I have a Perkins and Stafford every year now, but the change isn't retroactive. (So like, way to go, Congress. You couldn't have gotten your shit together two weeks ago?)

It was so weird, because I really didn't care for my first bite at all, and then I couldn't stop eating it. Crazy.

And...yeah. Things could absolutely still be better. Still, it's more than they've done in a long time, so that's something, at least.

I am recently, totally addicted to regular yogurt. So I can only imagine the level of crackitude I will reach when it gets here.

You know, though, because I'm totally anal, it's totally going to bother me that some of my federal loans are at 7 and the others are at 3.5. It's UNEVEN.

YES! Remaking V! I just found what is apparently the novelization for something or other on Amazon! I am both excited, and fearful.

And you're right? Who in the world would play everyone?!

OMG you know what that book is? It's a "sequel" written by Kenneth Johnson, the guy who made the first miniseries (but who refused to do the second one for artistic reasons). He's been trying to get the sequel made for years and years, so he finally gave up and wrote a book. I flipped through an advance copy at Comic Con. It looks lame, but let's face it, I'm totally going to read it.

Hahaha. Yeah, you and me both. Sad that its lame - but, you know, I've read a lot of lame things, and seen a lot of lame movies due to fannishness. ;)

Do they sprinkle crack in it or something?

Yes, yes, in fac they do. Which is the reason I had Pinkberry just this afternoon.

I watched the first couple episodes of Mad Men today and enjoyed it, so I'll probably try to watch the rest of the eps I have stored on the TiVo.

Come on in, baybee! The water's more than fine. *g*

Like I just said upthread, it's so weird, because I didn't even LIKE the first bite, and then I couldn't stop eating it. I got Cocoa Pebbles, but I think next time I definitely have to go for the Fruity Pebbles, they will go much better with the tang of the Pinkberry. :D

I vote for Matthew Fox as Mike Donovan.

Robin should be the girl who played Lily on "Veronica Mars."

Elias = J. August Richards.

Juliet Parrish = Sarah Paulson

Harmony = Merrin Dungey.

Willie = Breckin Meyer

The fact that I was able to name this many characters offhand should trouble me but does not.

You are scary. In a good way.

Definitely on board with Matthew Fox (duh). Merrin Dungey as Harmony is inspired. Not sure I can get with Sarah Paulson, though, although I think my main mental stumbling block is her height, so I should probably get over that. Juliet needs to be someone more in Katherine Heigl's age range, I think.

Marcia Cross as Diana! Or Tricia Helfer, although she probably wouldn't want to risk typecasting. *g*

They've been filming "What Happens in Vegas" over on Irving Place around Labor Day. There's a lot of filming done around here but geez, these guys have more trucks, more equipment and more general folks than anything I've seen here in 15 years.

I don't like frozen yogurt or ice cream so the entire Pinkberry (and Berrywild which just opened on 3rd Ave. in the 20's) appeal has passed me by.

Take Care

I bet he hates the French! hee! Steven Weber is an honorary Brit! *g*

What I chiefly remember about "v" is the mice-eating, the hammy acting and that damn ugly alien baby... but Marcia Cross would be fab as Diana.

Oh, and thanks for the vid link. I'm not big on fanvids but that one made me sniffle.

I actually almost started liking Heather after this episode. The whole thing with the food was hilarious! I was wondering about the sex myself. Oh, Jes. Rise above it! Don't sleep with him - he's icky! I don't understand why anyone wants to date him. I guess I'm just cynical. They're not looking for love! They want fame! FAAAAAAAME!

Next week looks interesting. I hope he finally gives asshatty Lacey the big leather boot.

Seriously, when Heather was taking the food, I was like, maybe I could be down with this chick after all. LOL. And you are right, they are all famewhores. But I want the happy ending anyway. If Jes winning is a happy ending. Hmm.
