So I spent about two and a half hours tonight backing up my files and then attempting to install Windows XP Service Pack 2, which did its thing for about an hour and a half and then crashed before it was done. I fucking give up with this shit. I can't believe I feel like I have to buy a new fucking computer even though it's only two years old, because I can't install the stupid fucking service pack. AAAARGH. I shouldn't have attempted it when I was already in a terrible mood because now I'm really filled with rage.

Last night [livejournal.com profile] oeilade and I went to a special screening of Sleuth starring Michael Caine and Jude Law and directed by Kenneth Branagh. After the movie Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh sat and did a little interview, which is why we went, obviously. That and the fact that [livejournal.com profile] oeilade harbors an indecent love for Michael Caine. And I have to say, I can never truly love Kenneth Branagh after the Emma Thompson thing, but he's so damn smart and talented and sigh, I would still totally have sex with him. I'm not proud.

The movie is...weird. I mean, I guess I enjoyed it, I'm just not entirely sure "enjoyed" is the right word. It's a really interestingly crafted and acted film, and I think it is definitely worth seeing for the exercise that it is. It's like watching a filmmaking class in a way. Michael Caine is pretty amazing in it. Jude Law has bad hair but is still pretty. The conversation afterward was more entertaining than the movie, for me. Both Caine and Branagh are just so good at what they do and speak so intelligently about it that it was great to just sit there and bask in their insights. I really enjoyed seeing them.

I'm way behind on my TV watching -- have only managed to really watch ANTM, Top Chef, and Survivor, because of the spoilery issues. I was fine with the results of all three, if anyone wants to discuss, come on in. The dramas are all sitting on my TiVo. Oh, I did watch Supernatural tonight. It was good, not great, I thought. The way that guy died is going to stay with me, though. Ick.

In case you missed it Go Fug Yourself does Hottie from Flavor of Love.

I also just wanted to wish Happy Belated Birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] timesink and [livejournal.com profile] powerof3. Yesterday was also Janel Moloney's birthday and Jack Wagner's birthday. Yes, I still remember when Jack Wagner's birthday is, I realize that's sad. It just stuck in my brain for some reason. I'm sure he had a great day with Heather Locklear. ;P

Okay, more this weekend, when I have a chance to catch my breath.

I had no idea that I shared a bday with Janel. That's cool. Also Gwen Stefani, Tommy Lee, and Asslee Simpson. Neat.

Thanks for the bday wishes, lovely. You're wonderful. *snugs*

then attempting to install Windows XP Service Pack 2,

Ack! Don't do that...installing that thing is what caused my computer to crash completely and me have to reformat the hard drive. It's EV0L.

Hmmm, you're not the first person who's told me that. It's just so frustrating because I can't install new versions of IE or Java or some other stuff without it. Grrrr.

Ooo, you don't need that -- Firefox! That's so much better than IE. I haven't touched IE in a couple of years, and I haven't missed it for one second. ;)

Um. EXACTLY. And I was invited to the very same event out here for tonight but blew it off because I have to be up early tomorrow, but it was very painful to give up my one opportunity to drool at KennethBranagh in person. That and I'm not sure I could refrain from yelling something insulting about Helena Bonham Carter.

It wasn't easy, believe me.

Amen, sistah. I have an unnatural love for that ridiculous movie they did together where they were each the reincarnated spirits of each other, which was only cool because at that time they were such a great couple. *sigh* Speaking of great couples, I love your icon pic. :)

Much Ado About Nothing is possibly one of my favorite movies and yet it makes me so sad. Sniffle.

Co-stars who are just friends are much safer. :) *uses icon again*

*shudders* Ewwww, yes, that image of mingled neon green and blood on the ground is forever burned into my memory.

Is there ever a time when you can try to install Windows that will make you NOT be filled with rage?

I believe scientists have established the answer as "no."

I never liked Branagh, even before the Emma Thompson thing. But telling people he makes my skin crawl because of that instead of his horrible accent in Dead Again is somewhat more reasonable-sounding, right? So let's go with that.
