my wallet is losing more weight than i am

Whassup. Had a pretty good time at Lunacon this weekend. Got to see some peeps, attended a wonderful memorial celebration for
dochyel (Lunacon last year was the last time I saw him alive, so that was a little rough), and wasn't too traumatized by the breakfast buffet this morning. I also spent way too much money on jewelry. OMG. I spotted this pair of earrings on Saturday, and just thought they were so adorable, and kept thinking about them, but they were a little over a hundred dollars and seemed so frivolous. So this morning I was back there and had picked out a pair of amethyst studs that I wanted and a pair of oxidized topaz studs to go with a pendant I already owned, cheaper and more practical purchases. But I had to try on the frivolous earrings and kept looking at them and finally the artist said that if I bought all three pairs, she wouldn't charge me any tax, and, well, I succumbed. Aaargh. But they are so cute and look nice with my hair!

They're iolite and....blue topaz maybe? I thought it was another "ite" but they sure look like blue topaz. I never listen when they tell me these things, I am too distracted by the pretty. Now I just need to figure out where the heck I can wear these, since I'm determined not to only wear them once a year or whatever.
Anyway. I'm not allowed to buy clothes for a little while. Unless it matches my earrings. ;)
Came home and watched Rock of Love and Scott Baio. I'm in a position on RoL of thinking Ambre seems like a pretty decent person, which makes me wonder if I should not be rooting for her. Megan is painful to watch because I just always think of how nice she was on Beauty & the Geek and how that was clearly all an act. (And Flav would never stand for one of his women having been on such a high-profile reality show!) That was pretty wild at the end with Kristy Joe, though. I think Bret really, really liked her, which was crazy, because I don't get it, although to be fair, despite her being insane Kristy Joe still seemed to have more of an actual personality than any of the other girls. Anyway, it was wild to see him so thrown for a loop. But crazy girl needed to go. As for Scott, can we talk about the fact that he named his daughter Bailey Baio? That is cruel and unusual, right there. Anyway, I really enjoyed this finale, thought it was very sweet and I loved seeing the Daddies with their babies and all the stuff with the centerpieces was hilarious. Not surprised that they set up another potential season at the end, you knew that had to be coming. Scott Baio is 47...and Married With Children? Sounds good to me.
Since Scott Baio and My Fair Brady are both wrapped up, I'm glad Celebrity Fit Club is back. I wasn't going to watch this season, but: DUNKLEMAN. OMG. Dalton Ross must be so excited. DUNKLEMAN! And Erin Moran! And Willie Aames! How can I miss this? And I'm currently trying to decide about I Know My Kid's a Star, it has train wreck potential.
Speaking of train wrecks, I watched another episode of Gone Country tonight and Bobby Brown got drunk and started talking to his shoes, which were on the seat beside him. "Come on, shoes. Come on! Let's go! Come on, shoes!" Then, later, he got a cheesesteak sandwich and started talking to that as well. "You are the greatest sandwich ever. Do you know that? You are the greatest sandwich." My favorite part was the other stars being surprised by his behavior. They clearly never watched Being Bobby Brown.
NYT has a long and comprehensive article about how the Supreme Court came to favor corporate interests, which was interesting (and depressing) reading.
Oooh, a documentary about Jay McCarroll!! That is VERY EXCITING.
intopolitics, it is playing at the Philadelphia Film Festival, you should go. *g*
ohnotheydidnt has some shirtless Hugh Jackman. Holy crap. Arms alert!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
paleologa! Sorry we didn't get to spend more time together this weekend.

Date: 2008-03-17 04:40 am (UTC)And I totally agree about Rock of Love - the more I watch the more I like Ambre and want her to get away from that load of crazy. Megan is HORRIBLE and I couldn't believe it when

Date: 2008-03-17 05:45 pm (UTC)I'm so disillusioned about Megan, because B&tG is one of those shows where you can fool yourself into thinking that the people are there because they really do want to improve themselves and have a great experience, and then Megan goes and blows the illusion right off of it. Although even when she was on that show, it was really her partner who had the impressive transformation, not her so much. But she was so sweet to him! Sigh.
Here's a clip of a challenge that she actually won:

And Daisy freaks me out. I have trouble looking directly at her. It's like, not even a real face.

Date: 2008-03-17 05:02 am (UTC)Erin Moran and Willie Aames on celebrity fit club? I may have to watch that. Danny Bonaduce's show kind of baffles me. Are the parents familiar with him? Do they really want him giving their kids advice? I wouldn't think that's a path we'd encourage, but hey.

Date: 2008-03-17 02:45 pm (UTC)I wasn't really a big fan of Jay's back when he was on PR (didn't really get into the show til the 2nd season), but the documentary seems interesting.
Also, Hugh's arms ... Holy Crap! Even if he is a bit scruffy for my tastes.
