meh-ness

Wow, that was an underwhelming night, wasn't it? Don't think I got excited about anyone. Liked Michael Johns the best, maybe. Wondered if the judges should be reminded if maybe the reason Fantasia's performance of "I Believe" was so emotionally uplifting was because she had a full gospel choir behind her. Blinked over Simon liking Carly's hideous outfit. Yawned, mostly. Oh wells. Not sure I'm going to bother watching tomorrow night since pretty much no one I'm interested in is going to be on, except Bono, who will probably be on for 30 seconds. May half-watch since ANTM is a clip show. We'll see.

So apparently Bobby Cannavale has been cast as Trevor in the Cupid remake. I'm really disappointed, as that guy does absolutely nothing for me. I'll probably watch the pilot to give him a chance, but odds seem good that I won't be watching. Sadness.

Collection of "What?"s from Lost. The ones in Korean are my favorites.

There's going to be a special Star Wars-themed episode of Deal or No Deal, with Carrie Fisher etc. Dammit, I may have to watch that.

Nicholas Kristof has an interesting meditation on the difference between sexism and misogyny in his blog today. It's thought-provoking, with no easy answers.

Of course, it's even more acceptable to hate atheists in this country. Sigh.

What is this wackiness with Rob Lowe being blackmailed by the nanny?

Nightclub in California is giving away boob jobs as prizes because that's what girls are "into." *cries*

Glenn Greenwald on priorities in the media. Civil liberties vs. bowling, eh wot?

They're opening a JC Penney in the Manhattan Mall this summer. While on some level I suppose I should be depressed about a JCP coming to Manhattan, I'm mostly pleased, since it's one of the few places left anymore that a woman can buy petite length pants. Especially since New York & Company has started making all of their pants flares. Memo to retailers: women who are 5'2" cannot wear flares, as it makes us look like TROLLS. Kthxbi.

Found out that the BSG guests at NY Comic Con next weekend will be Grace Park and Tahmoh Penikett. Could not possibly care less about Grace, but Tahmoh! Woot! Hope I can get in.

Thanks for the good thoughts; doctor went as expected. Basically need to get test results and if those are negative, decide whether to see a specialist or decide that it's anxiety and will just go away. Wibble.

Finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] hannasus and [livejournal.com profile] krazykitkat!

I was super-bored by AI, too. I think I hate inspirational songs, btw.

And I read about that Rob Lowe thing in the paper. I don't have much to say about it, since I don't know what the what is going on, really, but I love his use of the phrase a vicious laundry list of false terribles in his post. False terribles! It sounds so dramatic.

I hate inspirational songs as well. Unless it's something REALLY inspirational like Twisted Sister's "I Wanna Rock," natch. ;)

False terribles! It sounds so dramatic.

Doesn't it, though? A Vicious Laundry List of False Terribles would be a great name for a play. Martin McDonagh should get on that.

AI was a snoooooozefest tonight. I still like the people I did before (Michael and David C., mostly) but no one was "knock your socks off" tonight. I think I liked David A. best, scary as that is.

David A. did very well, though I still just kind of blink confusedly when the girls go crazy for him.

The atheist thing irritates me. I can't stand thought policing of any sort. Besides, last time I checked freedom of speech was one of the founding principles this country was built on and God was specifically separated from the state. Why do these people always conveniently forget that?

NY Comic Con coming soon! Woot!

hahaha, that What What What thing makes me first think of Kyle's Mom from South Park, then the West Wing. Because clearly nobody could hear anything on TWW and everything had to be repeated. ;)

Apparently, though, the letter the nanny sent to Rob's wife is contradictory to the blackmail she is pulling now. I'm curious how this play's out.

::headdesk:: boob jobs *cries*

Don't forget Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft!! I am their bitch because I am also 5'2" :) And their tops fit me well too since the torso and sleeves are usually the right length for me.

Thanks for the political article!

[livejournal.com profile] chanel19 has been watching CSI:New York and we came across an episode where there was reference to a now defunct New York address "Reason Street". It was named after Thomas Paine's book, "The Age of Reason" one quote from the book reads,

"I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish Church, by the Roman Church, by the Greek Church, by the Turkish Church, by the Protestant Church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church."

It was changed by political pressure to Barrow street, in memory of artist Thomas Barrow, a Trinity Church vestryman. That whole debate on church and state just keeps on rolling.
