Did anyone watch Paradise Hotel 2 tonight? Something awesome happened.

Nothing awesome happened on The Hills however. Yawn. Where is Stephen??? /whine

And apparently Heidi really does have a clothing line?? Ewww.

Important announcement! The intrepid [livejournal.com profile] alikander informs me that FelonSpy is a hoax! So that's a relief. Geez, the one time I don't check Snopes for something my mother sends me....figures.

Here's the most depressing article I've read in a while: Costs skyrocketing on some prescription drugs. UGH.

Did I link to this writeup about an Illinois state representative going batshit insane on an atheist? Someone needs to read her Constitution. It's still okay to hate atheists, clearly....

I was very distressed to read that Disney's planned release of Rapunzel is going to be in 3D. WTF? I thought that was going to be traditional animation, dammit. And now it will come out and look like creepy crap and no one will see it and Disney will say "no one cares about fairy tales" when really it's that no one cares about creepy 3D crap. DAMMIT. (ETA: OK, it's more Pixar than Polar Express? That's better, but I'm still unhappy. I miss REAL animation. And if this movie is a hit it will be used as "proof" that traditional animation is dead. Bah.) The Princess and the Frog had better be awesome, since it's apparently our last great hope.

In the end, I console myself with Cat vs. theremin, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] bentleywg. (YouTube link.)

Rapunzel's been announced as 3d for a hella long time. The animators at Pixar were giving Keane special lessons long before the merge. Sorry, Dia.

(I think it looks pretty good, actually.)

Spoiler images? Why yes, yes I will. (http://theartofglenkeane.blogspot.com/2006/07/rapunzel.html)

YouTube no longer works. Not digging the earlier artwork, either. :( Oh well. I will be happy to be proven wrong, I'm just sick of everything having to be 3D. (And I say that as a big Pixar fan.)

Yeah, the Youtube vid's been down for ages. (Disney had a right shitfit as you can imagine, and naturally I didn't save it.)

I think it looks great, but the actual screengrabs leave me a little cold. The more recent images (the prince on the tower with the hair (http://bp1.blogger.com/_0hrrWXjfxC4/R_-daJYAboI/AAAAAAAAAS4/2bqKZU4Ye9w/s1600-h/Rapunzel+26.jpg) and Sant-Michel as the Disney Castle) make me a little happier.

I will try to have faith! I'm just really bummed b/c for some reason I'd thought it was traditional animation. I feel like the art form is dying in this country. :(

Hobbes (icon!cat) was dozing on my lap when I clicked on the cat vs. theremin link, but she popped her head up and looooked at it. Apparently theremins are inherently fascinating to cats.

I am really really excited about The Princess and the Frog as well. I love the fact that it takes place in New Orleans.

I was hoping that Rapunzel would be more along the lines of Beauty and the Beast. A few digital effects but mainly good old animation.

And I read an issue of Shape magazine the other day that spoke about Heidi's fashion line - I thought of you. LOL

Noooo, don't think of me when you see Heidi! LOL.

Does this mean the felons in my neighborhood aren't old?

Does it really count as a clothing line if it's just slutty clothes? I mean if I I put together a bunch of clothes that I wear and called them a clothing line for waiters or something would that really count as a clothing line?

Having seen further "reviews' of Heidi's "clothing line," I'm not sure it really counts, no.

Stayed up late last night to watch my recording of Paradise Hotel 2... am WAY too addicted to that show. Yes, the twist was AWESOME! I just hope that he sides with Mike and co, because I really do like them. And I loved Mike and Tayna, I wish I could go kick Myrna off myself….

I was SO EXCITED about Zack because he was one of the main sources of crazy on the first season (Amy and Toni being the other sources, natch). Unfortunately he seems a lot less crazy than he used to be, but I can't figure out what he's doing! Is he "playing" the new people and still really on Mike's side, or is he screwing over Mike and all the Originals because he didn't like what James said about turning on Ryan? I am so confused! All I know is I like Mike and don't want him to leave. When he said to Zack "You got her letter" you could just HEAR the wistfulness in his voice, awwwww.

I can't stand Myrna at all. It's funny, on the first season the new people were so much better than the originals, but in this edition I'm rooting for the originals more, except for Ryan, who is such a douche.

It's good to know someone else feels the same way I did about this move/episode! I totally can't figure out what Zack is going to do, although at least it's pretty clear that he doesn't like Myrna...

Yes, I totally LOVED when Zack read that letter to Mike! I hope Mike wins and then goes and shows Tanya a good time once he gets off the show. They do have a reunion show for this right? Because I hope they're still together, they were so cute. (And I'm usually totally gagging over such hook-ups on the reality shows).

Agreed… last time I was totally all for the newbies. But this time, I really don’t care for any of them. The originals (agreed - except Ryan… and TD) are much more entertaining, and likable.

And OMG Myrna saying to Mike that she shouldn’t be blamed for Tanya’s leaving because she went and chose to stand next to a guy that she knew was going to kick her off. Well, where the heck else did she have a choice to stand?! She either had attempt to take out one of her friends (which probably wouldn’t have worked anyway) or go stand by a guy who would kick her off. There were no other choices!

I really hope they do have a reunion show, as I will NEED to know whether Mike and Tanya wind up together.

And Myrna needs to shut the hell up. UGH.

That was great.

When the turkeys get you down...the cats (and sometimes the dogs (http://mfrost.typepad.com/cute_overload/2008/04/i-swear-i-am-no.html)) will always make us feel better.

Rapunzel is going to be in 3D

Now I'm afraid her hair is gonna come out from the screen and attack me!

I was very distressed to read that Disney's planned release of Rapunzel is going to be in 3D.

Yeah, I heard that too...I then I heard they changed their minds. Though reading your entry, I think I may just have been getting confused with The Princess and the Frog.

3D animation can be nice, but to me nothing will ever replace traditional animation. It just looks prettier. Or maybe it's because it's what I grew up with. Still, it hurts me inside to see cartoons becoming more and more CGI these days.

I am glad to find someone who agrees with me about animation! I often feel like a lone voice yelling in the wilderness. :D
