bsg and lost

(My DSL was out again last night, so I'm posting this now....wrote it last night.)
My two favorite shows were both awesome this week, yay! You know, oddly, I think when it comes down to it I enjoy Lost more than BSG, yet I am fannish about BSG and not about Lost. It's weird. Best I can figure is it's due to the fact that 90% of the time (the other 10% being Kate/Sawyer scenes, heh), Lost gives me exactly what I want, so I don't feel the need to expand upon it in fic. If only I could say the same for BSG. *g* Anyway. That just struck me today for some reason. Anyone else have shows they love that they have no desire to be fannish about, even if they are for other shows? I'm curious.
Moving on...
This was a kickass episode, I thought. FINALLY. It just felt like it was firing on all cylinders and stuff actually happened and lots of different folks had great scenes.
Boy, Lee was an officious prick in the beginning, wasn't he? Dude, settle down. I think you need to go wear a really hot red shirt in order to find your zen. Just a suggestion. He made up for it later, though -- I much prefer Lee the peacemaker. I also thought it was funny how in that Zarek Quroum scene everyone looked to Lee. Was it just because he used to be in the fleet so they figured he had inside info, or has he really become their default leader already? Damn inherent leadership qualities. ;) His hair also seemed darker to me but maybe that's just because there's more of it, seeing as how he had a couple of weeks without being onscreen to grow it in more. ;P
I have to say Laura's line about not having the energy to hold the hands of 12 needy representatives or whatever the line was made me laugh and laugh. Hee.
I was VERY VERY SAD that Lee and Kara were in the SAME ROOM and yet nothing could happen between them. WOE. WOE I SAY.
Natalie is well-spoken and persuasive, which kind of makes her the most dangerous of them all, doesn't it? I like how she essentially has to speak V E R Y S L O W L Y to the Sharons and the Leobens so they can understand all her scheming. Loved the scene where she explained about the final five and you could see Tigh trying not to jump right out of his skin. And then his oh-so-subtle tactical suggestions later. Hey Saul, I am right there with you on keeping the Threes boxed, BELIEVE ME.
(Also loved his yelling "Hold weapons" at the beginning, sensing something wasn't right -- and how awesome was that entire sequence? Contrived as hell, but still cool.)
Tyrol, however, apparently wants the fifth Cylon to be revealed so he or she can join the secret club and go to secret meetings. I think it's hilarious that Sam thinks it might be Gaeta because he likes to sing. Oh, Sam. It's a good thing you're cute.
Speaking of Gaeta -- who knew he could be so damn hardcore? Listening as his leg gets cut off OMG. However, later, all I'm saying is, if I had been in the sickbay with him, I would have been yelling at him to shut the hell up already. Yeah, he has a nice voice, but screaming at the top of your lungs in the middle of cranky sick people is not cool. Anyway, poor Gaeta. Nice going there, SAM. I'm glad they showed his actions having such horrific consequences, except I'm confused as to why he's not facing any disciplinary action for shooting a fellow officer. I guess in a mutiny rules don't apply? Meh.
Laura and Tory: OUCH. And then I got kind of aggravated because while I can totally see why Laura would consider it a betrayal, on the other hand, it's not really any of her business who her aide chooses to sleep with. But that was inevitable, so I'm glad it's out in the open. And then we got Gaius looking yummy in bed so that made me happy. But...we didn't know that Six told Romo about the visions, did we? I'm terrible about remembering these things, so maybe we did.
Gaius also looked very yummy later in his white shirt and dark coat, rowr. I'm sure he was THRILLED about going back to a basestar, LOL. I liked that Gaius showed up in the vision, and noticed that in the vision Six is wearing the same dress she wore when she showed Gaius the vision of Hera in "Valley of Darkness" or whatever ep it was. Gaius wasn't wearing pilot tanks though, so it wasn't completely consistent.
Hera's drawings were priceless and more than a little hilarious. Sharon shooting Natalie was pretty effed up, especially since hello, she has TOTALLY DIFFERENT HAIR than the Six in your vision. Hee. Also loved Tyrol Not Wanting to Get Involved. Snerk.
Laura: I have this vision and I can't ignore it, I have to find out what it means etc.
Kara: Um, welcome to my world.
Speaking of which, I hope both Lee and Kara, after stopping by to see Laura in sick bay, also stopped by to say hello to poor Gaeta with his leg chopped off. He needs visitors too!
And an awesome ending. Laura and Gaius stuck with each other on the other end of the galaxy. I love it.
And the promo for the next episode -- GAH. Tigh/Six revealed! Romo returns!! Lee getting sworn in as something was not a cut scene after all! *flails* Maybe Laura is MIA, so Zarek becomes acting president, and Lee becomes acting VP???? Or Zarek yields his VP spot and nominates Lee instead? My mind is reeling. Why do we have to wait two weeks? Sob.
OK, how good was this episode? So much awesomeness in one hour.
Getting to see the Oceanic Six arrive in the US was priceless. Favorite moment by far: Hurley bringing Sayid into the fold to meet his parents. Awww, HURLEY. Loved how their story started to fall apart pretty quickly with the reporter questioning whether Kate was actually six months pregnant when she was taken into custody. Ooops. Also, I'm guessing Jin really is dead, which makes me really really sad. If they blow up Jin, Desmond and Michael, I will be VERY VERY ANGRY. But only about Jin and Desmond.
But back to Sun, who rivaled Sayid for pwnacity in this episode! Giving the smackdown to her father was glorious. I can only hope this somehow leads to her getting tangled up with Charles Widmore.
Jack finding out that Claire was his sister -- fantastic scene, even if I found it slightly ludicrous that Claire's mom flew over from Australia just to do it (and wasn't she in a coma?). Loved how it was like a physical blow when he heard her name. I was so glad to be able to see that scene. I couldn't tell if Kate overheard or not, though, that was weird. And then Claire's mother compliments her own grandson, sniffle. And Claire never knew! At least Jack got to find out. Although I guess maybe Dead Christian told her. (Ooooh, it would be interesting if flashforward Jack starts seeing visions of Claire in addition to his father, wouldn't it?) Anyway, I wonder if this does indeed give credence to my theory that Jack has trouble being around Aaron because of the family connection, not in spite of it.
Poor Hurley, starting his downward slide. I think it's funny that his first reaction to those numbers is still the lottery, though, instead of the whole pushing the button thing. *g*
Going back to the island, I need to take a moment to express my love for the brief Jack/Kate scene where she points out how he looks you in the eye when he lies. Adorable scene. Also loved Sawyer walking out of the jungle with Aaron, it just felt so WRONG, making Claire's absence feel so ominous.
Favorite line of the episode: Jack's "Son of a BITCH" after Sawyer tells him Hurley is with Ben. Perfect delivery, hee.
Ben was not entirely truthful, who'da thunk it? Ha. Whatever is going to happen at the Orchid station cannot possibly be good, can it?
It's still making my mind spin trying to figure out how those six particular people wind up on the helicopter. I can't wait to find out.
I'm very sad neither show will be on next week.
Oh, and while I'm here: I thought SPN was pretty kickass, too. Their best season finale cliffhanger by far. Holy crap! Also, I may have sung along with Sam and Dean in the car. I am also sure I was not the only one who must have done so. *g*

I want someone (OTHER THAN ME) to write that fic.

I liked Gaeta's singing for what it did for the episode, but oh man, I agree that the people in sickbay would get *really annoyed* hearing him belt out that one song over and over.
Laura and Gaius stuck with each other on the other end of the galaxy. I love it.
SPINOFF!

i loved the tory/laura scene. talk about a smackdown. and while normally i would agree that laura has no right to butt in, i can see that she wants tory to know that she has her eyes open, no matter how sick she is. badass.
Laura: I have this vision and I can't ignore it, I have to find out what it means etc.
Kara: Um, welcome to my world.

Date: 2008-05-17 06:54 pm (UTC)I cannot wait til the next episode, when we (hopefully) see the look on their faces when they realize what's happened. Hell, I'm looking forward to next episode for a LOT of reasons.
Oh, and Lost. Ohhh, Lost. I'm mainly just antsy to see how the Six end up together. Oh, and I hope the boat doesn't blow up, but it probably will :(

Speaking of Gaeta -- who knew he could be so damn hardcore?
Brother did stab Baltar in the neck with a pen. I think Gaeta doesn't get as much street cred as he should because he's a wee effete bastard, but if you look things he's actually done over the course of the series -- gotten a bitchin' tiger tattoo when drunk, played double agents on New Caprica, fucked with Roslin's plan to steal the election -- he's a bit more hardcore.
Why do we have to wait two weeks? Sob.
Fucking Eurovision.

And, yeah, Hurley being the nice guy and introducing Sayid to his folks. Love that Hurley.

Lee was an officious prick in the beginning, wasn't he? Dude, settle down.
Hahaha, yeah he was. I kinda love it. :D He was much better later on though, yeah.
I was VERY VERY SAD that Lee and Kara were in the SAME ROOM and yet nothing could happen between them. WOE. WOE I SAY.

Heeee! Oh, I love you. I fangirl your summaries every week.
I think it's hilarious that Sam thinks it might be Gaeta because he likes to sing. Oh, Sam. It's a good thing you're cute.
OH! Was that the implication you read?! I mean *I* was busy thinking that (Sam and I are on the same page, it's a MIRACLE!) but I thought Sam was just being spazzy and random. ;)
I'm confused as to why he's not facing any disciplinary action for shooting a fellow officer
And so am I. I think it comes under the same clause in his character contract that says his leg will heel miraculously between eps. :)
Speaking of which, I hope both Lee and Kara, after stopping by to see Laura in sick bay, also stopped by to say hello to poor Gaeta with his leg chopped off. He needs visitors too!
Me too! I was all :(( about his lack of visitors (though I think the singing as off-putting!)
And you just spoiled me for next week but in a VERY HAPPY-MAKING WAY. \o/ YAY SPOILERS! (Geez it's not often I say that.)

I don't know. My first thought was that he was being spazzy and random, and then I had the Cylon thought, but the only other person I've seen also see it that way is
(though I think the singing as off-putting!)
Ha ha ha ha ha. "Hey, I think I'll go see Felix -- wait, what the hell is that racket??"
And sorry about promo spoiling you! I'm glad it was good spoiling. I am VERY EXCITED.
