YAY! Oh, I am so happy for that boy. I'd decided that since statistically speaking overall the winners of AI have done better than the first runners up, I wanted Cook to win. I am glad America obliged. ;) Looks like Dial Idol was right! I was very skeptical, but they had it. (And if you go back and look at the last few weeks of Dial Idol results, Cook's win is even less surprising.) I suspect that Simon checks Dial Idol and that's why he backtracked on Cook at the end there. And David was so obviously moved and thrilled to have won, I'm so happy for him.

Best moment though? The very very end, when his brother looks into the camera and says, "That's my brother!" SO CUTE.

And it was so sweet of David to keep bringing Archuleta (and everyone else) into the fold. Can't help but think there was a big brother vibe going on there, with Cook being conscious of Archuleta's young age and wanting to make him feel a part of things. Very classy. Surprised Archuleta Sr. didn't have a public meltdown.

And David Cook was wearing eyeliner, which, GUH. I love that. Guys in eyeliner are hot, truefax. (Ewan being the gold standard, natch.)

Most amusing recurrence: just how much Amanda Overmeyer did not want to be there.

The Love Guru stuff was embarrassing, although the boys were cute. However the Pips stuff had me laughing, mainly because of RDJ. HA! Who knew the main thing I would be taking away from the AI finale was a reminder of just how much I want to have sex with Robert Downey Jr. Awesome.

Oh, my other favorite moment: Blake singing along with Jordin's song. He knows the words to her song! THAT IS SO CUTE.

Michael and Carly singing together = hot. I kind of forgot how hot Michael Johns is. Damn.

Loved the Guitar Hero commercials! I wonder if they'll put the Cook one into regular rotation now that he's won.

Most of the musical numbers were so frickin' random, though. ZZ Top? Bryan Adams? Donna Summer? George Michael? (Although I was psyched about that last one. Faith is one of the best albums of the 80s, my friends. Due respect. He didn't look so good though. He's not sick, is he?) Paula must be a buddy of his, with the way she was crying.

I eagerly await to see Carrie Underwood on Go Fug Yourself tomorrow.

And now I'm sad that it's over for another year. Bye guys! I will miss you. Seacrest, I think I'll miss you most of all. *clicks ruby slippers*

ETA: iTunes has "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" as a video but not as a song release. What is that about? Grrr.
