Or, "His name is WHAT????"
Yeah, I watched. Although I kind of stopped a couple times because the Sky One logo makes me BATSHIT INSANE. Holy lord. It makes the SCI FI bug look like the most unobtrusive thing ever. I will have to rewatch on Friday so that I can pay more attention to what is going on on screen rather than to how incredibly distracted I am by a logo on someone's face. Anyway.
First of all, I have to get this off my chest: DO LEE AND KARA EVEN REMEMBER EACH OTHER'S NAMES? Like, do they EVEN REMEMBER THAT THEY KNOW EACH OTHER and are totally in love? Because I don't think the writers do. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK, MATE. I mean, shit, if nothing else, Adama having his big revelation about not being able to live without Laura (AWWW) should maybe MAKE A FUCKING LIGHT BULB GO OFF IN LELAND'S HEAD.
Speaking of which, in my personal canon his name is not Leland. EVER. BECAUSE THAT MAKES ME THINK OF LELAND PALMER AND THAT IS NOT A GOOD THING. Seriously, I am SCRUBBING OUT MY BRAIN RIGHT NOW. Ahem.
So, yeah. I need to go write porny fic about the new president of the colonies banging the troublesome hotshot pilot in his office to soothe my soul.
I was also all about writing reams and reams of fanfic that consist of nothing more than Lee and Romo hanging out (nagging him about his cat! talking about his housekeeping! THEY ARE SO MARRIED OMG), until Romo lost his shit at the end, there. Was it all a ploy to push Lee into taking the position or was it for real? I was too distracted by the Sky One logo to be able to tell. Maybe on rewatch. Great scene, though, and both actors were fantastic. A lot of this episode served just to have Romo being Romo, and I have no problem with that. I loved how he kept calling Lee "counselor," heh.
I was very happy to see the Red Shirt of Unspeakable Hotness, though I wished there had been more. And now that he's president, does that mean he'll finally get a new suit? GOD.
I of course loved the scene with Romo listing all the presidential qualities of my man, even if I snickered at the idea that a president has to be "honest." HA.
I also snickered at the beginning when everyone was like, "Do you really think your father will ever acknowledge this tool Zarek?" and Lee was all, ".....No."
Sharon is losing her shit and I couldn't be more bored.
CAPRICA SIX IS PREGNANT WITH A BABY TIGHT. First true Cylon baby!!! Holy crap, I didn't think they would go there, I really didn't. My jaw hit the floor. What will Gaius say???? Also, loved the old man fisticuffs, that was fantastic, and yes, I cringed when the ship got ruined again. Is Six over Gaius or what? Because if so that makes me very sad. Or maybe this is really the baby she was referring to all along, and not Hera? And I wonder if they were only able to make the baby because Tigh is one of the final five and they're special?
Speaking of Gaius, very disappointed we didn't get any of him and Laura on the baseship this week, woe.
Tigh is so fucked up, yo. I hope he calls a secret Cylon meeting to discuss all these momentous changes in his life! It's going to be a very busy agenda!
Dear Admiral Adama, you can't not speak to the president just because you don't like him. If that were true, how many people do you think would still be talking to Bush? Just sayin'. You did the right thing in theory by handing over the reins, but ooops, you totally handed them to a Cylon. That's going to chap your hide later.
All the Adama pining was very sweet, even though I'm aggravated with both of them. I mean really, it's about time he found his damn balls when it comes to her. Maybe he'll take his wedding ring off finally. It's not like his son is going to, APPARENTLY.
JAKE! Yay, Jake! I'd heard he was going to pop up again. Find it hard to believe he was just up for grabs, though. There are so few dogs left in existence you'd think he'd have people fighting over him.I hope he and the cat get along! (ETA: I'm an idiot.) I confess I really wanted Lee to keep Jake for himself, just because that would have been SO ADORABLE OMG, but I'll get over it.
Overall, not the best episode, but I do love the political machinations and at least Lee finally had something to do, so you know I'm not going to complain about that. And he's PRESIDENT. PRESIDENT LEE ADAMA. (Do you think Bill was proud, even for a nanosecond? I wonder.) You know, last year at Dragon Con, when someone asked what was Lee's destiny and I said "President," it got no response. Suck on that, bitches.
It's going to be REAL interesting when Laura gets back. At least I hope so.
OK, that's it. Possibly more upon rewatch.
By the way, my co-worker just emailed me at home at 11:30 PM to tell me that CBS has put every episode of Twin Peaks online for viewing. Wow.
And VH-1 announced their summer slate. New York Goes to Hollywood premieres in August. YEAH BABY! And of course I Love Money in July. Also, they're apparently going to do a Charm School with the Rock of Love girls, hosted by Sharon Osbourne. AWESOME.
And apropos of nothing, in case you haven't heard the lunacy about Dunkin Donuts having to pull a Rachel Ray ad because she's wearing a black and white scarf around her neck...and that's ISLAMOFASCISM, there's a great evisceration of it here. Insanity.
ETA: And I did make a small dent on the Indy icons, you Indy whores, and you know who you are. I do love how I managed to generate such stunned man lust. It warms my heart.

Date: 2008-05-29 05:07 am (UTC)Hee! You know that he will! As commander of the ship, he can call secret meetings everywhere, and they can stay extra-long to help reassure Anders, who is all puppy-faced with worry that he might get pregnant too. How do they know it doesn't work like that??

...Isn't the cat dead? It was in the bag, and Lee was all "it's been dead for weeks" which would I guess mean that the cat was all in Romo's head...? Right? I was only half paying attention at that part, I was too distracted by the Red Shirt of Unspeakable Hotness.

Date: 2008-05-29 12:46 pm (UTC)Well crap. Now I will too. *headesk*
Was it all a ploy to push Lee into taking the position or was it for real?
I've watched the scene twice and I still can't quite tell, though I think I'm leaning more towards actually batshit.
no subject
Date: 2008-05-30 07:00 pm (UTC)And I was thinking batshit too, the only thing that makes me wonder is Romo's smug expression when he listens to Lee taking the oath. Hrm.

Date: 2008-05-30 07:02 pm (UTC)I now have a new Last Supper/Final Cylon theory and I'm going to have to post it and God is going to KILL A KITTEN AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT.
I'm willing to accept that responsibility.

Date: 2008-05-30 11:50 am (UTC)I love your capslock of rage. :D I agree wholeheartedly. I think at some point very soon I will break and post a rant about the complete abandonment of the Kara/Lee ship but I was trying really really hard to stick to the positive in this ep in my review. Because there was some! \o/
nagging him about his cat! talking about his housekeeping! THEY ARE SO MARRIED OMG
Hee! They so are! They're adorable.
I confess I really wanted Lee to keep Jake for himself, just because that would have been SO ADORABLE OMG, but I'll get over it.
Yeah, I wanted that too. And I agree that people would have been falling over themselves for that dog, but I'm going to fanwank it that Lee actually had to pull in lots of favours but did so for Romo because he loves him THAT MUCH. :D
so you know I'm not going to complain about that. And he's PRESIDENT. PRESIDENT LEE ADAMA. (Do you think Bill was proud, even for a nanosecond? I wonder.)
Yeah, no. Bill was not proud. And I'm totally with you on just partying about PRESIDENT LEE ADAMA (still hasn't really sunk in!) and ignoring the other annoyances.
when someone asked what was Lee's destiny and I said "President," it got no response. Suck on that, bitches.
Ohhh, nice. :D That must feel good! I would never have expected it because it is simply too good to be true to me. Even now! I guess they threw in 'Leland' to make things a bit more balanced.

Date: 2008-05-30 12:08 pm (UTC)In my head he's wondering around saying: 'Hi, I'm President Lee they-won't-let-me-be-compLETEly-awesome Adama.'
no subject
Date: 2008-05-30 07:04 pm (UTC)Yeah, no. Bill was not proud.
I mean, seriously, they couldn't have had him say ONE kind word, or call him "Mr. President" as he was leaving or SOMETHING? Sigh.
PRESIDENT LEE (NEVER LELAND NEVER NEVER) ADAMA! Woot!

Date: 2008-05-31 04:09 am (UTC)Speaking of which, this icon is just an early start on the ones I'll be eventually making for this ep, so feel free to snag. *g*
Did someone on the writing staff maybe GO to Stanford?
Very possible. Also possible that they're Twin Peaks fans. ;)
