the oncoming storm

So I've now watched Doctor Who "Midnight" and "Turn Left."
Thought "Midnight" was brilliant. The only force in the universe the Doctor can't conquer: the human mob mentality! Hee. And the "being" was suitably disturbing and irritating all at once. That it was so riveting despite its static setting merely underscored the glacial pacing of the two-parter that preceded it, IMO. And Rose soundlessly screaming "Doctor" on the monitor gave me chills. And Tennant was genius in the scene where the Doctor can't move or speak. Fantastic job by him. I guess they were trying to give Tennant and Tate (that sounds so cute!) a break, since this one was Donna-light, and "Turn Left" was Doctor-light. "Turn Left" was great, although I couldn't help but feel that it could have been even better, at times -- I think maybe all the flurry of writing RTD was doing at the end may have diluted things a bit. But that's a minor quibble, as it was a grim, maddening, intriguing ride. I loved trying to guess what mishap was going to befall Britain next -- and actually, I think my favorite minor detail was the lifelessness that takes over Donna's mother's eyes. Catherine Tate was stellar, and oh yeah, HI THERE ROSE FUCKING TYLER. I MISSED YOU A LOT. *flails* She was so damn enigmatic and badass and so...composed. She's really grown up. I loved her caressing the TARDIS and her look when Donna asked if they were "..." killed me ded. And then when Donna said "Bad Wolf" at the end it's possible I shrieked and bounced up and down a little. Ahem. And I hated myself for not knowing she was going to say Bad Wolf until she said it, and then once she said it I was like OF COURSE THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID, BECAUSE ROSE TYLER IS THE FUCKING BAD WOLF! *happy dance* And the look on the Doctor's face....yeah. Good stuff.
(And then I watched a vid that had "Doomsday" footage (which STILL makes me cry) and I was reminded that Rose DID actually say "I love you" and the Doctor was about to but he got cut off and gah, I'm having a little mini-Renaissance over those two. So adorable, and then so tragic! SOB.)
Anyhoo. My only other problem with the episode was the GIANT FUCKING BUG. WTF, mate. W.T.F. Brrrrrr. I had to shield my eyes many times because they kept LINGERING on the damn thing. UGH.
So I'll watch 4x12 before Saturday and then I'll be all set to flail along with everybody else. :) I didn't think I would cave, but I'm a shameless Rose fangirl, so it had to be done. (Is the Torchwood content in the finale going to spoil me for Torchwood's most recent season? I'm only up to episode 5 or something.)
And I've been watching this dance routine from SYTYCD set to "Bleeding Love" now and then because I love it so, and in comments on one of the uploads someone noted that the song and dance made them think of the Doctor and Rose, so now I really really want to see a Doctor/Rose vid set to that song. Someone make that happen. *waves hand imperiously*
In other exciting news,
anitchka is writing Shannon/Sayid, and I couldn't be happier about that.
I'm glad she's writing, since I'm not, but according to the GCCAs I'm not a good writer anyway so I guess you should all be thankful that I'm blocked. ;) That's what happens when you don't write Josh/Donna for 18 months, I guess. LOL. (Geez, has it really been that long?) Still can't decide if I'm going to write them or Lee/Kara (or Lee/Kara/Sam) for
dooooooom. Guess I should decide soon, huh. If anyone gives a shit and has an opinion, let me know.
Rumors are abounding that Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford are an item. I believe the appropriate term here is OMFG. Thanks to
bliss_ for the tip.
Scully's dad died. :( Dammit.
In brighter X-Files news, TV spots have started running. Check it out. I think it's better than the trailer, actually. And Duchovny has a blog, called, in a stunningly original fashion, Duchovny Files (JESUS), so let the wank begin.
New milk jug causes chaos and confusion at Wal-Mart. People are so frickin' dumb.
Might want to think twice before taking your laptop on your next international trip. Up to ten percent of them are being seized.
So I ordered these earphones on sale from ifrogz, and didn't pay close attention to the picture, and got them in the mail and thought they were defective because one earphone cord is much longer than the other. But no, that's apparently the way they're made. On purpose. Can someone please explain that to me? I am old and feeble and not getting it.

SIGH. I loved that routine. Chelsie and Mark instantly leaped to my top 3 with that one.
