I kind of hate the new version of Firefox.

Bill Clinton didn't pull any punches tonight. An unequivocal endorsement of Barack Obama that I think went a long way toward healing some wounds. I was actually surprised by how straight-up it was. Then again, I've never bought this bullshit that the Clintons are after themselves more than the party -- they like power, sure, as do all politicians, but they are both policy wonks to their CORE. It is All About the Party. And I'm right there with them. He's lucky he ever got a chance to speak considering the reception he got, hee! He's such a rock star. And you know he was loving every minute of it. I love how eventually he was basically like shut up already! Anyway, a good speech, and he's always a pleasure to watch because he's so damn comfortable up there. "...when people were impressed by the power of our example, not the example of our power." Great line. Oh, 90s prosperity, I miss you.

John Kerry ROCKED IT. Damn that was a good speech, well-delivered. He's grown so much and I only wish we had seen more of that fire when he was running. Sigh.

Joe Biden did very well, although he didn't blow me away or anything. The short film was lovely (as was the Spielberg-produced/Hanks-starring film on the soldiers) and his speech was both passionate and grounded. And then the man himself shows up, that was pretty great. Soaking it all up and loving every minute of it. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night even though I'm going to have to go to bed the minute it's over since I have a 7 AM flight the next morning. Eeeep.

This Daily Kos diary has a nice selection of quotes from speakers who weren't covered on channels other than CSPAN or PBS this week. (My favorite? "John McCain calls himself a maverick, but he votes with George Bush more than 90% of the time...that's not a maverick, that's a sidekick.")

On another note, guy gets roughed up by police for trying to go to the bathroom during "God Bless America" at Yankee Stadium. Apparently "God Bless America" is now the national anthem and we now all live in a fascist police state. Who knew?

Project Runway was great, I thought the right person won and the right person went home, and it's rare both of those things happen. And I got some more icon ideas, too. I hope I have the chance to make them at some point...

[livejournal.com profile] marakara alerted me to some great Chuck casting: Bruce Boxleitner and Morgan Fairchild will play Captain Awesome's parents, and Carl Lumbly will appear as a mentor for Casey. That is...dare I say it...awesome!

[livejournal.com profile] oeilade told me about this crazy news -- four songs from U2's new album leaking because Bono plays his music too loud. I'm glad I'm not his neighbor!

[livejournal.com profile] croberson shared this great link: the X-Men reimagined as Victorian Extraordinary Gentlemen types.

I am so busy I feel like I'm drowning, you guys. Looking forward to having some silly fun this weekend.

I hate to admit it, but I've only been reading half of your posts the last few days. I really don't care about this convention, but I care about you! ;)

That's funny about Bono. And Captain Awesome's parents sound, well, awesome.

I'm half-dead from staying up too late because of the insanity that is DNC commentary, but it was SO worth it! Have a safe flight tomorrow morning. <3

Hey, here's some good news: on the strength of the first six episodes, NBC has already picked up the back nine for Chuck, so there'll be twenty-two episodes this season. Yay, more Chuck. And I'm thinking those first six eps must be FAB.

I kind of hate the new version of Firefox.

Hear, hear. What's with the new URL filler-inner? So fussy! Ugh.

Oh, 90s prosperity, I miss you.

This was exactly my reaction, as well. I did not love the way either of the Clintons--but especially Bill--acquitted themselves towards the end of the primary, but their convention behavior is re-ingratiating them to me. Way to regain your balance, guys.

Bruce Boxleitner and Morgan Fairchild will play Captain Awesome's parents

I gave up on Chuck fairly early on (though I hear it improved after I did), but that is indeed pitch-perfect. I heart Captain Awesome, man.

Apparently "God Bless America" is now the national anthem and we now all live in a fascist police state. Who knew?

Thing is, it takes stuff like this to help ensure that nonsense like a "no movement policy" (WTF is that?) gets contested. I just wish there was a way to challenge such things before it gets to this place. Or that we weren't such frakkin' sheep that we just go along with things like that. Crazy.

And I'm very happy with PR too. Although I am really waiting for Jorel to win one. He's really very good and I feel like he's getting ignored a bit. I just wish Blane would stop skating through. Of all the people to make it from Seattle, why did he have to get national exposure?
