So, did anything interesting happen in your city today?
Crazy (and wonderful) that everyone survived. Thank god the pilot was able to make a water landing or it would have been REALLY ugly. It was funny (not ha ha funny), I was watching General Hospital on the DVR when the broadcast was interrupted for the initial report about the plane, so I was watching it already having heard that everyone was going to be okay, so was just checking out the cool shots of the plane in the water. But the news anchor obviously didn't know anything yet and was REALLY upset. Her voice kept quavering and she sounded like she was about to cry. It was very affecting and strange at the same time.
So, on the one hand, it is TOTAL AWESOMESAUCE that Tony is working with Bill and Chloe. On the other hand, part of me is kind of disappointed that Tony isn't the Big Bad for the season. Oh well. Man, were Jack and Tony about to kiss in that interrogation room or what? I was very amused by Chloe's kung fu being better than Janeane Garofolo's kung fu. Still think Janeane is completely miscast, and annoyed they're trying to make her another Chloe. Female FBI agent whose name I can never remember continues to kick ass and IS TOTALLY JACK'S SOULMATE IN TORTURE. LOL. It's times like this that I hate that the show takes place over only 24 hours, alas. Next week looks excellent, can't wait.
Do you Highlander fans know that Peter Wingfield is playing a baddie on 24 this season? Consider that your public service announcement.
Keanu Reeves is going to play Spike in a Cowboy Bebop movie. Ewwwwwwwww.
This card from
fandom_secrets had me DYING. Awwww, my emo OTP. Thanks to
airings for linking it.
Speaking of one half of that OTP, if you haven't seen Jamie Bamber's contribution to the BSG cast book, you really should. It's a crack epic poem. No, really. I love him so much.
What I also love is this AMAZING vid by
chaila43. It's a Battlestar Galactica vid set to "We Didn't Start the Fire." And it is BRILLIANT. It is clever and fun and it completely works. Huge, huge thumbs up. Go check it out.
Oh, and ETA:
queenofthorns has this lovely collection of her favorite Lee Adama moments, Lee fans everywhere need to check it out.
Hey, you know what's really fucking refereshing? These statements made by Eric Holder today:
“Waterboarding is torture.”
“Mr. Chairman, no one is above the law.”
“The Department of Justice first and foremost represents the people of the United States — not any one president, not any one party.”
Less than a week to go! My enthusiasm for the inaugural has been irrevocably dampened by the whole Rick Warren debacle, but I'm still so excited for a new administration that I can't see straight.
Speaking of which, an awesome article about Joe Biden about the limits of the vice presidency, in which he compares that Bush/Cheney relationship to pudding. Oh, Joe. You make me laugh so hard, and you're not even trying.
And here's our future Geek-in-Chief talking about inaugural plans, including "texting" and "webcasts." Just cracked me up for some reason.
Ugh, I owe so many people emails. I should really try to do something about that. I'm also thinking about getting a massage tomorrow after work. I really shouldn't spend the money right now, but I'm in pain and I'm going away next week, so.... what do you guys think?

Date: 2009-01-16 05:04 am (UTC)Yeah, but even Alexander Siddig couldn't get me to watch 24, so I don't see that changing.
Edit to add: Live action Cowboy Bebob? That is not okay, Dia. Not okay.

Some a**hole decided at 6.30 am when the temp was alredy pushing 30 to set fire to our botanical gardens/forest in the middle of our city... right down next to houses and across the way from a Uni and a Hospital!
Firyies have been at it all day trying to contain it, just when they thought they had it, the wind changed... twice... they are still battling!
