thank you, television gods

For giving me a fucking amazing Lost tonight. Seriously, at the last shot, my jaw dropped, and stayed hanging open for at least a full sixty seconds afterward. Holy crap.
Apparently Sayid did not get Daniel's memo that they cannot change anything in the past, LOLOL. OMG!!!!! SERIOUSLY, WHAT NOW? OMG.
Thank you, teevee, for giving me a week of Sayid with hot hitman hair. I needed that.
So do we think Lone Gunmen girl was really hired by Ben or no?
I loved Sawyer's, "Three years with no burning cars, until you're here for ONE day...."
Also loved Hurley's, "They live together. Not as roommates. Like you guys used to live together." Oh Hurley, never change.
Also, when they went to the torturer, and Sayid said, "Who's that?", who else said, "I'm Larry, and this is my brother Darryl, and this is my other brother Darryl?" If you didn't even think of that I'm not sure I want to know you.
I really love that not only is Sawyer part of the Dharma Initiative, he's one of the LEADERS. That will never make me not laugh.
I think that's all I've got, beyond a general HOLY SHIT WHAT HAPPENS NOW. I love this show.
There was this one part with Smokey Robinson on American Idol tonight that made me laugh and laugh and laugh. I'm curious if it made anyone else laugh too. So Adam is going to sing "Tracks of My Tears," and asks Smokey, "What inspired you to write that song?" "Well," Smokey says seriously, "I thought, what if someone had been crying so much, that if you really got right up in their face, you could actually SEE the tracks that the tears had left behind?" "Wow," Adam says, as if the mysteries of the universe have been revealed. LOLWHAT. TRACKS OF MY TEARS IS ABOUT SOMEONE HAVING TRACKS ON THEIR FACE FROM TEARS? REALLY? OMG that was so fucking funny. Brilliant.
I thought it was an overall good night, helped by the fact that they sang some of my favorite Motown tunes, so even if the performance wasn't good but I loved the song (i.e. "Ain't Too Proud to Beg"), I couldn't get too upset. The only performance I really bopped along to was "Get Ready," but again, that might just be because I love that song. Thought Adam easily had the best performance of the night even though I'm not a huge fan of his, and my girl Allison brought it, woot! I hope it saves her. I suspect Megan will be going.
Paula giving Simon a coloring book and crayons WTF. And then Simon drawing a mustache on her face LOLOLOL. So cracktacular.

Hey look, volcano monitoring actualy saves lives. *eyeroll*
Really moving piece about the 20 year anniversary of the Exxon Valdez spill, written by a former Alaskan fisherwoman.
You knitters are really getting out of hand.
On the street reactions to Bill O'Reilly's dirty audiobook.
Gallery of some of the items up for auction from Michael Jackson's Neverland ranch. There's a lot of pictures and stuff of little boys. Eeek.
And finally, I love this song so very much, because I could have written it myself. Hey Paul Krugman!
Awesome.
And yes, I'm still incredibly bitter and sad about BSG.
airings's cracky icons help, though. (Spoilers there, obvs.) I need to go upload some of those now. Oh! And
jo_march wrote this great post about the narrative paradigm and why the finale flunks the test.

Can I plead "too young to know"? ;)

Date: 2009-03-26 04:30 am (UTC)Oh and Lost--great ending. I dozed for a bit in the middle, but that should be a gamechanger I would think. Pretty sure Michael Emerson ain't going nowhere though...He's way too good to lose.

Date: 2009-03-26 04:51 am (UTC)Lil could use the reality check, yeah. I just hope Allison isn't in the bottom three this week.
I am very glad that a lot of my BSG peeps watch Lost, so we still have a (GOOD) show to talk about. :D

Date: 2009-03-26 05:41 am (UTC)I think Allison is totally safe and bottom will be Megan, Michael and...probably Scott actually.
I don't know that I find Lost good anymore. They fucked around entirely too much in the middle seasons and all the hiatuses made me lose interest, plus I don't care about any of the characters the way I did even the extraneous ones on BSG. BUT the past two episodes have been better I thought.

Date: 2009-03-26 02:26 pm (UTC)And I so disagree about Lost! I think it's been amazing this season and have loved it every week. And I actually care about a greater breadth of characters on Lost than I ever did on BSG. :)

Date: 2009-03-26 05:43 am (UTC)I can just imagine Damon and Carlton in their little tower of *who can we get for this role* fuckery. Priceless. The joy Lost brings me is priceless.
As for the rest of it, my brain hurts. What happens now?
I could've hugged Jack tonight when I realized he really is letting Sawyer figure stuff out. Sometimes I almost love that guy. What I really love is since the Losties spent 100 days together, but for the audience it was 3 years, I adore that those 100 days makes Sawyer so loyal to his fellow Losties, but his actual three years with the DI actually makes him loyal to them too, in his own strange way. So great. Every week I think I can't love it more, only I do!

Date: 2009-03-26 02:23 pm (UTC)I really loved that scene with Hurley asking Jack what he was gonna do about it etc., because it showed just what I said last week: that Jack is actually a bit relieved to let someone ELSE try to figure things out for a change, since he never asked for the leadership role in the first place, but continually has it thrust upon him by people like Hurley. I loved him just showing up at the van fire all "What the heck is going on?" Hee.
And I think what's so interesting about how Sawyer is with Dharma, etc., is that this is clearly the first time in his life that he's ever had a real home, and it's interesting to see how determined he is to protect that.

Date: 2009-03-26 09:38 pm (UTC)And Sawyer blaming him and the others for coming back--three years no burning vans, one day back and a burning van! It's just so typical of Sawyer to see causation there. Takes me back to the boar stuff in S1.
I'd much rather see Jack and Sawyer working together than being at odds, so I hope that's how it's going to play out. Can't wait for next week!

Date: 2009-03-26 02:47 pm (UTC)For me, it was the whole time travel paradox thing that broke my brain, until Adam pointed out to me the the paradox may be fixable by a simple resurrection. (OK, that too is weird come to think of it...)

Date: 2009-03-26 05:33 pm (UTC)Oh, thank God it wasn't just me. I was laughing hysterically. WTF?
I loved Adam's performance though. He is actually one of my favorites. Though I like almost all of the guys this year. Kris...what a hottie. RAWR. Not a huge fan of Michael or Scott, but the others are all strong, IMHO.
Oooooo, too much coffee.

Date: 2009-03-27 12:13 am (UTC)Heee! Yes. And when he said, "Maybe I should have just used half a drop?" it sounded *just like Larry* Made me smile.
I'm wondering about Razinski (sp?) since he was earlier implied to be crazy, but now he's just Mr. Kill-em-all!
I was not expecting the last shot though. Sayid making his own journey. But what if Ben messed up the island's purpose and this has all been the island's way of correcting it? Of course there are 80 bajillion plot twists in the 23 remaining episodes, so I'm sure it's too early to call.
I'm with you though that Lost has gotten much better. S2 & 3 moved too slow for me. I'm much happier with this pace.
