and the horse you rode in on

Well, that was lame. I enjoyed the episode for the most part, right up until the not at all surprising "shocker" that Michael was dead. From the brain condition that was supposedly curable. See, here's the thing. If they had made his death meaningful, and had it happen within the context of the story in a way that I could understand and appreciate, I would have been okay with it. I always suspected this show wouldn't really have a happy ending. But the way they did it instead was DUMB. "Oh and then Michael died. Ha ha!" And don't get me started on how, just like with BSG, everyone except Michael gets the happy ending no matter what they did. Just because Michael was set up as the good guy, means that HE has to be punished for everything he does while the others don't. Whatever. I need to write up a Michael Scofield/Lee Adama conversation, I swear to god.
It also just reeked of HEY LOOK AT THIS SHOCKING THING WE DID, which is also lame. Like I said, if they had made me believe it, fine. But they didn't. And instead, just like RDM, they were assholes just for the sake of being assholes. Nice. Way to shit on your fans who stuck with you through the whole thing, especially considering how few of us there were left. ;P
(I confess I did get misty-eyed when Linc put the crane on the grave, though. Someone on EW.com theorized that was actually a note to Michael, who is in hiding, that the General is finally dead and he can come out of hiding. Hee.)
(Also, why did Sophia look so HAPPY as she sent Lincoln off? "Have a great time visting your brother's grave!" WTF?) And did they bury him in PANAMA or something? Because of all those great memories there? WTF?
Plus, to add insult to injury, it turns out that the REAL reason they did this was so everyone will buy the DVD movie coming out in July, that covers the period from the end of the series to Michael's death. WOW. That is beyond lame, it is desperate. A marketing ploy of a series finale. Nice. And Matt Olmstead's insistence that this is a happy ending (also at the link) is just insulting. He and RDM should sit down and have a chat, they'd get along famously.
So, yeah, that ending was crap. The rest of it was good though. My favorite part is Mahone ending up with agent chick whose name I can't remember. Awwww. And Kellerman being the one to set them all free? HILARIOUS.
Oh well. Even though I've watched all along I haven't really been emotionally invested for the past couple of seasons, but I still bid the show a bittersweet farewell. And I will always be grateful to them for creating Sara Tancredi, who I truly believe was one of the most interesting, layered, realistic, kick-ass female characters on television (not that she ever got any credit for it). So that's that. And I wish the cast luck finding future work.
And I think I need to just not watch series finales anymore. ;)
In other news, I almost peed my pants watching James Callis on Numb3rs. OMG so funny. He's this redneck Charles Manson -- well, a redneck Gaius Baltar, if you will -- and I couldn't stop giggling. Good times. And Rob Morrow is still hot, good to know.
Speaking of hot,

What else. I thought the Supernatural finale was good despite some pacing problems. Talk about a cliffhanger, LOL. Looking forward to seeing where that one goes.
And in OMGWTF news, Kristin Cavallari is replacing Lauren on The Hills next season!!!!!! Holy crap! I'm not sure how I feel about that, to be honest. Hmm.
I'm in love with this picspam: Rose/Nine compared to Beauty and the Beast. Awesome.
Going to see 9 to 5 on Broadway tomorrow night. Should be fun, I hope!
ETA2: Going by an NBC viewer survey I just took, sounds like they might be considering making Mary pregnant on "In Plain Sight." Interesting.
