Have had an emotional roller coaster of a weekend. Saturday morning discovered a growth on my cat's mouth (really more her lip). She seems okay otherwise so I'm hoping it's just an icky old cat benign kind of thing. But of course I'm still freaking out. Taking her to the vet tomorrow after work.

Then I had to go straight from that to my second date with a guy from Match.com. He's a really nice guy and I like him as a person, but am not feeling the "spark," which is disappointing. Meh. Didn't help of course that I was not in the best frame of mind! So, LJ Nation, how many dates do YOU give it to feel a "spark?"

Saturday night I went to see Alice in Wonderland with [livejournal.com profile] bexatious and [livejournal.com profile] divanoir, and I really did not care for it at all. Actually, I could have found a certain measure of peace with it for most of it, but the last 15 minutes or so just made want to throw things, or cry. At least I apparently amused my movie companions with my occasional heavy sighing. LOL. To think I was so excited for this movie when I first heard about it...such a disappointment.

I am also confused as to how the Karate Kid remake can be called The Karate Kid when he is in China and learning Kung Fu.

Today was a little more mellow, though I've been on pins and needles about the healthcare vote all day. Stayed away from C-SPAN though, as I know I can't handle that.

On the plus side, the weather was GORGEOUS this weekend. In a completely unseasonal way, but it was nice while it lasted.

Still enjoying TAR this season. The team that came in first tonight is my favorite. :D

Oh, I had my first acupuncture session on Friday, and have another one tomorrow, so if anyone is curious and has questions I'd be happy to answer them.

On a final note, as many have mentioned already, yesterday was the one-year anniversary of the Battlestar Galactica finale. Would you believe I have not watched a full episode since then? In a YEAR? That is pretty crazy. I have not even watched "The Plan" yet. So, well done, Ronald Moore. Good job. Sigh. Thankfully, the one thing he can't take away from me is all the awesome times I had with my fellow crazy BSG fans. So there. :D

China's not so much an issue -- karate originated in China, and in fact the original translation of the word that sounds like "karate" was "Chinese martial art," but some Okinawan master changed the kanji character to something that sounds just like it but means "empty hand." Homonyms are your friend when you're trying to propagandize....

The Kung Fu thing, though -- nah, I got nothin'....

Everyone keeps telling me to give it at least three dates to feel the spark. For a match.com set up, though? I'd probably give it four. He might just be a little weird because of the online dating thing? I dunno. You're pretty great, he should be jumping through hula hoops to impress you!

He's definitely a nice guy, just don't know if there's going to be anything more than that. Thanks for the input!

I wait til after the first sex, but if it's too awkward to even get there, then that's not good.

Sebastian had a couple of benign sebaceous cysts on his lips that scared the crap out of me both times. Keeping fingers/paws crossed for your kitty!

What the shit, there is no WAY it has been a year since BSG ended.

Also I liked The Plan because the Cylons are my favorite, but really it just feels like watching an hour and a half of deleted scenes, it does not stand on its own at all.

So, essentially it was BSG for the movie screen?

I also agree with what [livejournal.com profile] austin360 said about the dating. But if you're not feeling it, you're not feeling it.

Ha, kind of. Though at least it never gave me false hope, LOL.

You know one of them is under investigation (http://www.boston.com/ae/celebrity/more_names/blog/2010/03/rhode_island_contestant_on_ama.html), right?

If you enjoy his company but aren't thinking about him all the time, I might give him a couple more dates, especially since you weren't feeling that great for your second date. OTOH, if you know positively right now that you're never going to sleep with him then why waste your time.

I'm very curious about the acupuncture. Definitely let me know how that goes.

{{{{{{Dia's kitty}}}}}

I am very curious about acupuncture; can I ask what you're going for? Or did I miss a post? I am wondering how well it works on migraine prevention.

I'm going mainly for a chronic bladder condition, but the nice thing about acupuncture is they can treat a bunch of things at once, so she's also addressing anxiety, digestion, my fibroids, etc. I know it can certainly be used for migraines as well.

I'm so sorry about Kitty. I read your update too, so I'll be thinking about both of you on Wed.

FWIW, I never feel "sparks" for guys until I've known them for a good while. With Thor, I knew him for over a year before I was attracted to him. And even now, I don't find myself thinking someone is attractive until I've really gotten to know them. If you enjoy him as a person spend time with him. The whole, "head-over-heels" love thing is very over-rated IMO because it's just not sustainable and we create false expectations because of that. If nothing else, enjoy the friendship. We can all use more of that.
