As for the icon, no, my Don/Rachel love will never die. You can't take that away from me, Weiner! Oh man, I am SO SAD the season is over. I may have to make many icons in order to console myself.

AAAAAAAH MAD MEN YOU WERE SO FUCKING EPIC TONIGHT IT WAS LIKE YOU WERE WRITTEN JUST FOR ME THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I felt there was a need for a Mad Men post! Have been absolutely loving this season, and this past week's episode was the best one yet. Amazing.

Day 28 is first TV show obsession.

Kind of tough to answer because I guess it depends on your definition of "obsession." I guess it would probably have to be....

But, it was quickly followed just one year later by a show that sent me into a frenzy:


Moonlighting.

And this was before the days where you could record stuff, by the way. IT WAS TORTURE.

Day 27 is best pilot episode ever.

Well that's an easy one. Except that it's a tie. But it's an easy tie.

The West Wing.

Lost.

If you've watched either pilot, you know why.

Other great pilots: The X-Files, Alias, Gilmore Girls, Twin Peaks. And if "33" counted as a pilot I'd put BSG in there too.

Day 26 is OMG WTF? Season Finale.

This was both easy and hard, in that three finales immediately came to mind, but I had a lot of trouble choosing a "winner." So screw it, I'm going to cheat and do all three. It's a lazy Sunday afternoon after all. ;)

The first is one that I would probably rank first just in terms of the effect it had on television as a whole. Couldn't find a YouTube clip, unfortunately.


Season 1 finale, 24.

Jack is racing to save his wife from CTU mole Nina Myers. He shows up at CTU, subdues Nina, has her taken into custody, and races to where his wife Teri is tied to a chair...only to discover that Nina has shot and killed her. This episode not only warned you that NO ONE was safe on the show, but it had reverberations throughout the television landscape and upped the stakes for how far showrunners felt they could go. I remember that after watching this, I called up my boyfriend at the time, who didn't even watch the show, so I could yell and scream and blither like an idiot. "You don't understand," I told him. "TV shows just DON'T DO THAT!" Except after 24, they could.

Second was probably the most "mind-blowing" for me, personally. Still remember watching this, oh so well.

Season 2 finale, Alias.

After a knock-down drag-out fight with Fake Francie (still probably the best woman/woman fight scene ever on TV, goddamn), Syd wakes up in Hong Kong. She scrambles to a pay phone to call the CIA...only to find out they think she's dead and two years have passed. Aaaaaaah! The first show to do this kind of time jump, and I still think the best to do it. Completely blew my mind. (Too bad after this was when the show started to suck.)

And third -- well, it really is in third place, but I couldn't resist.

Season 3 finale, Lost.

Deserves a mention here for completely changing the format/nature of an incredibly popular show in one jaw-dropping swoop. "We have to go back, Kate! We have to go back!" Still gives me chills watching it.

Hi guys. I know, I'm the worst LJer ever. But I was at Comic Con, and then I got back, and five days later I left for my annual Outer Banks vacation, and just got back from that yesterday. So I haven't really been around the past few weeks. But I'm back for the rest of the month, now, and hope to catch up, and post some Comic Con pics, if people are interested.

In the meantime, back to the TV meme, since I'm close to finishing. Day 25 is a show you plan on watching (old or new). There are lots of possible answers to this question, since there are plenty of shows that I'd like to check out that I haven't had a chance to yet. For the purposes of this meme, let's go with:


Community.

I've seen a few episodes, but would like to get more fully on board. Seems like a funny show and I know so many people who are in love with it. So I'm hoping to get on that train.

Other shows: Leverage, Dexter, The United States of Tara, Treme. Mostly pay cable stuff, since I don't get any premium channels. ;)

In other TV news, I am LOVING Mad Men this season and can't wait for tonight's episode, especially since it looks like it might be Joan heavy. Woo hoo!

Day 23 is most annoying character.

This is one of the easiest ones for me. And I know quite a few of you reading this will nod your head knowingly (and sadly).


Sonny Corinthos, General Hospital.

This one character single-handedly destroyed the once proud and popular soap. Where once upon a time GH was about love and romance and adventure and family, now it is about....the mob. He is the ostensible romantic lead of the show, and he is a murderer, a racketeerer, and a misogynist. He (accidentally) shot his wife in the head while she was in labor with their baby. He is currently in a storyline where his teenage daughter is realizing that he is an emotional abuser of women...and when he asks his ex-wife if she agrees with that diagnosis, she does...and we are still supposed to root for him as the romantic hero. My disgust knows no bounds. Also, the actor playing him is horrifically awful and has become a caricature of himself. Here's a scene where his fight with his wife gets so violent that his little son comes running downstairs saying "I'm not gonna let you hurt Mommy." SO ROMANTIC.

Really, "annoying" is too benign a word, but, it'll do.

Barbies weigh the merits of Twilight vs. True Blood. This is hilarious. I think it's by the same folks who do the "I'm a Marvel, I'm a DC" fake ads.

Day 20 is favorite kiss.

Well, that's just cruel, to ask a shipper whore like myself to choose. I was chewing this over for a while, when finally the answer, for me, hit me from out of the blue:

Moonlighting, "Witness for the Execution."

In this episode David thinks he has committed a murder (he hasn't, of course) and needs go "underground." He and Maddie say goodbye, and TV history is made. Sigh. This kiss is INTENSE. And all the more so for being completely unexpected. Shrieks must have gone up across America. It sent junior high me into QUITE the tizzy. Hee.

(Runner-up: Josh and Donna's first kiss, The West Wing. Although, you know what else was a really good kiss? Tony and Angela's first kiss on Who's the Boss. In the kitchen with the flour. Hee.)
